I believe your first stop was around Benson, AZ which is a nice place but next time you come through try going south a little bit to Tombstone, AZ, I am sure you will find some nice camp sites there. Was your second site around the Sahuaro National park which is a nice place also. Have fun enjoy life, because it is short and you want to live life at its fullest, I am proud and happy you are doing what you like.

If you ever want the smell of desert rain, cut a branch off one of those bushes, creosote,(around the 4min mark) splash some water on it from your faucet and place it in front of your fan. generally I dislike the desert, but I do love that smell that the winds bring across the valley before a rain. the oils from the leaves, like rosemary, are highly aromatic. and very comforting, to me at least.

I love to travel and I can relate to your personality, actions, thoughts, and funny ramblings - haha. I have two boys that are 17 and 20 and I’ve been kinda lost due to having extra time while they’re out doing their own things. Your travel vlogs bring such peace to my evenings. I have watched tons of You Tube videos, usually to learn new things, but I have never ‘binge-watched" until I found your channel and you put me on to Anna and Maddie. I know in one of your recent videos you mentioned not liking working facing a wall. Have you thought about making your passenger seat swivel and adding a removeable table/desk that attaches to the wall? I saw a van build like this. They put it on a mount so the table could swivel in and out. That way you would be facing the back window and have the passenger side window right next to you as well, and it would give you more space because you wouldn't need the bench seat anymore, so you could take that out. The passenger chair would also be a lot more comfortable to work in. Without the bench seat, I bet you could even add a storage ottoman so you could prop your feet up. I know you're thinking about getting a new van. I just thought this could be a solution that would make your quality of life better until then.

OMG...HOW do you NOT fear that at any moment some crazed lunatic could come down one of those isolated dirt roads? I'm NOT trying to set fear or anxiety in you bc I've watched ALL of your videos & anxiously await each week for another to drop so I know that you've had a lot of problems overcoming anxiety & being alone on the road but you REALLY put it into perspective just how desolate these places are in this video & I'm not one that gets spooked easily but for whatever reason seeing this video really made me look at things differently. I know you're smart & well versed in being a solo female van lifer but I'm just saying....I COMPLETELY, MORE than ever now understand all of the anxiety & uncertainty you've had previously. Be safe & please always make sure that you're checking in with a loved one leaving your coordinates each time you stop. Thanks so much for the sunsets!

    • @denverdubois5835
      @denverdubois5835 2 года назад +2

      Look at it this way...
You're surrounded by thousands of potentially dangerous people in the city every day. Any of them could be watching you at any time and you'd never know until they broke into your apartment in the middle of the night. Out in the middle of nowhere however, it'd be a miracle if even one happened to somehow run across your campsite--and in a vehicle, you can get away fast. Your odds of being safe are therefore much better in the middle of nowhere--just plain old mathematics lol! I'd be more worried about scorpions and snakes in the desert than about people, generally. And there again, in a vehicle you're probably safer. A properly sealed and built out van doesn't have a bunch of holes, drains etc. through which nasties can get in--as houses do. My late Dad lived in AZ when my older sister was a baby (long before I was born.) He had a Siamese cat who was a great hunter. They lived in a funky old house with plenty of ways for critters to get in, and that cat saved my sister from both a scorpion and a centipede (and a poisonous snake in the yard) during the years they lived there.

YaY!! I am SO GLAD to see you headed for warmer weather! Yes, winter in Arizona can be GLORIOUS!! I remember one January I was visiting my mom and grandpa in Palm Springs... meanwhile my poor husband was stuck in Wisconsin working and he was dealing with SUPER COLD BLIZZARD CONDITIONS... but I was spending my days poolside in a bathing suit. Watching golfers drive by and stop to pick grapefruit from the trees... I remember talking to him on the phone, and we were at that time considering living in an RV, and I was telling him "IT DOESNT HAVE TO BE THAT WAY" after listening to him complain about how cold it was.... GO SOUTH!!! Experience that fully! A lot of beauty out in that desert! Make sure you are there also to experience the spring desert blooms too. After that it's time to leave because you will want to chase the nice weather, and that time will be seeking cooler spots.

Mariah, I think you might likes this campsite, its called Mittry Lake and it's 14 days free camping and most of the sites are on the lake, it's south of Quarzsite, Arizona on state road 95 and its just North of Yuma, so if you need supplies Yuma is not that far, seems to have decent wifi signal. There is are a few other pay campgrounds around the lake with low camping rates with bathrooms and hot showers, there quite a few truck stops in Yuma to get a shower.....There are a few videos on RUclips about this camping area.

Its so sad to see the things that used to make me so happy and that I invested everything into become dull, and uninteresting. I start questioning life and why nothing makes me happy then as some time passes, I realize that sometimes no matter what the surroundings, no matter if you have everything you ever dreamed of, you won't be happy and that's ok as long as it's not eternal depression.

Honestly, I know your pain. I've had my van for years. It doesn't do nearly as much as it did but I've still got it. About as big as yours. I've lived winters in it and the one thing is the loneliness and the realization that the outside is a harsh and desolate place in winter and actually houses are a great idea. My van has heating and all the off grid works but you cannot beat the protection and security of your own land and bricks and mortar. I go on van life tours all the time still but emotionally I'm at home now - cabin fever is real and sometimes it's just too cold lol. Peace and love. X

Really loved what you said about 'why pay $500k to $1M for property not even in the perfect spot when you can live in a van and live in all these places it costs millions of dollars to live'

I think it was Finn's original idea to use SurfShark, you just went along with him for the ride... 🤣
Oh, and from the UK, thanks for the cactus!

If you haven’t already, you need to go explore Tombstone!! It’s fairly close to Tucson, and while it can be pretty busy with visitors because of the history of the place, it’s absolutely beautiful! And if you like history, it’s an amazing!

It made me so nervous for Finn knowing what I do about coyotes! But what a beautiful experience!

Heyy Mariah! I just finished bingewatching every single one of your videos and i have to say, i learned a lot. Thank you for that! Talking 'bout your feelings back then and now makes me think as well, how i'd handle things, is it smt i really want?... etc. I LOVE your videos a lot, how you edit them, the little quirks, how you share 'behind the screens' scenes etc, it shows how it all really is, it keeps it real, keep that up! I also am grateful that you can make this long-term because i cant wait for the future! Stay safe, and enjoy life ;] greetz xx

The desert is so desolate....and yet so welcoming. Never thought I would enjoy it as much as I did when stayed on a fire road in Sedona but to this day I cannot wait to go back. Safe travels and unlimited venti starbucks !

It’s really nice up in the White Mountains. Eager/Springerville/Alpine are cool little towns.

I used to live in Tucson (2007 to 2012) and this video definitely brought back a lot of good memories from that time a decade ago!

I used to go to Elephant Butte just about every weekend back in 2000. The water's gone down A LOT since then. It's not what it used to be.
