I’m sorry about your dad, I lost both my grandmothers to alzheimer’s. The first was when I was 14 and the other when I was 19. It isn’t fun to watch people you love to slowly fade away and not know who you are on their bad days. It can be soul crushing. I actually dropped out of college when I found out my second grandma had been diagnosed. I spent the next 6 months spending every second I could with her while working a full time job and being there for my grandpa as his wife, bestfriend, and soul mate slowly faded away. The hardest days were the days i had to re-introduce myself to her, because she didn’t know who i was. But because of that, I knew that night when i watched her take her last breathe, that I had been able to spend time with her and help her and my grandfather with this transition in which I found peace in it. Even if you Cizzors doesn’t see this personally. I hope that this can help someone somewhere be able to find peace in their journey with someone who has alzheimer’s.
Alex Nunez i’m living my life now knowing that they know who I am and doing everything I can to make them proud. Because while my time with them on earth was shorter than I would have liked. I know without a shadow of a doubt in my mind that they are pain free and full memory. While I can’t see them they can see me. With knowing that it makes my heart full to be the best person I can be to make them proud.
Alzheimer’s is one hell of a disease brother, stay strong. When my gran was diagnosed, my dad told me that I shouldn’t feel sad for her, because in her mind it was as if everyday she’d experience love for the first time when she saw me or my family.
That is by far the best mindset I have ever heard for dealing with the disease. It can be difficult staying positive when a family member is going through that kind of adversity. I have a lot of respect for someone who can maintain that mindset to benefit the people around them.

I wasn't able to see my grandma and the last person to see her was my mom (her daughter) at the funeral. I know how hard it is but take your time and spend time with your loved ones.
