Homeschooling does give you a lot more advantages with your off ice training times and with your lessons and time on ice. Anyways, good luck on becoming a figure skater, it’s hard work!
I know it’s not the same, but is there a roller rink near you? Roller skating isn’t as difficult (in my opinion) but they do the same jumps and moves. Maybe you could get a membership there and practice your ice skating routines xx
i only skate once a week because my parents are sick of me constantly obssessing over ice skating and also they don't take me seriously about my passion for the sport

+adrienette I agree with Life On Thin Ice---it's the skates. They keep falling bc the boot is too loose and the blades are too dull. It's better to get your own skates. Jacksons and Edeas are two of the most popular brands for skates if you want to look into it.

How do you like the Edea Piano skates? Currently I have edea chorus, but soon im gonna be switching to Ice Fly or Piano, Do you think Piano would be overbooting for only doing doubles?
Pianos might be high for only doing some double but if you have all your double then they would be good. I used to have pianos but recently, since they’ve been producing them at a faster rate, they keep having defects. I switched to Risport Elites and they are $400 cheaper, feel the same as edeas, and all the best skaters in Europe use them. They are a sister company to edea so I would personally recommend those. -Sarah

You’re never too old!! Try it out you might love it, you might not. But it never hurts to try skating. In my opinion, there is something for everyone to love in skating and I hope you find that ❤️❤️

Although this is not Claire responding, I (Sarah) did online high school through Connections Academy and you have teachers online and it's completely free and accredited. Your parents wouldn't have to be home and you have a ton of flexibility with your schedule.
I only skate Tuesdays (for 2 hours), Thurdays (for 3 hours plus I teach little kids skating for and hour after), Fridays (for 2 hours again, and Saturdays (for 3 hours and then I teach little kids skating for an hour) and I want to skate more often and take it more seriously but I can't because of school and I really want to be homeschooled so I can skate more.
You're so lucky, you get to skate for 12 hours a week. My sister and I only get to skate on Saturdays for 4 and a half hours, and sometimes on Fridays for 2-4 hours and 45 minutes. But I hope you'll be able to skate more---just remember to work on both your mind and body.

I wish I could ice skate so bad I’ve gone to a rink approximately 4 times in whole life and a couple of times I got told I got good flow ?? If that’s a thing or something like that , and that I should try skating cause I may be good But I can’t I live like 25 minutes from the closest rink, we aren’t in he best financial situation and my dad that is the only one who could actually drive me there isn’t at home for work 4 days a week I’m going to a rink on Sunday , it’s been more than a year since I last did I hope I can still at least stand lol
I used to live over an house from the rink so I understand your struggle. Hopefully you can find more time and one day be able to drive yourself when you get your license!

I’ve never liked anything more honestly, I wanted to go back the second i stepped on ground I’m going back on Sunday again and probably will be going 2-3 a month for now but I’m satisfied enough Hopefully I’ll get skates in the near future cause rental ones are really uncomfortable but hey , It’s enough for now! I’m just really happy I get to skate at all

I know its probably what everyone would say but practice something you can't get quite right over and over is the best way :)) Also, I recommend getting a private coach rather than doing group lessons. I'm not sure how that works since a coach wanted to work with me, but I think just asking them would be okay ^^. I've improved so much faster with private lessons (also stretch after ice practice it helps) rather than having group lessons. Don't expect to get everything right away, everyone has a different pace! Another tip is that you should just go to as many public skates as you can! I did (and still do) since practice ice makes me feel uncomfortable. It's not recommended unless if you want to just mess around *and* practice. Oh, also if I were you I would do lots of off ice jumps and stuff.
ivars seafood I stay after class with a coach and take classes so I skate abt 2-4 hrs on Saturday’s and my teacher said I was to good for easy classes and now take advanced but it’s only a month I belive I can get better she said that I first day I ever started 😭❤️

I used to be homeschooled but I went back to public school this year (8th grade) I kinda hate it XD, it's just a really negative environment and 70% of the grade is judgy and honestly just annoying, if the other students aren't better by 9th grade then I'm going back to homeschool because school is honestly just draining right now

If you're getting bullied at school and your parents aren't helping then I recommend getting the school counselor involved, go talk to them, that's what they're there for. As for getting distracted, I totally feel ya XD, I just started taking ADHD meds so maybe you could ask your mom to set up and appointment to get you evaluated
@@adrienette2222 yeah, I recommend looking for some other non-medicine solutions to ADHD before the evaluation to see if any of them help, that way if you end up not having ADHD you didn't take a bunch of un-needed meds. Exercise is a good one, so is natural light.
It depends. It’s good to have a schedule but it’s also good to trust your body. Don’t over work yourself if skating or conditioning isn’t feeling good that day. Also I would only do 5 days a week skating if you are preliminary or above. No reason to skate that much if you aren’t working on doubles. For the week you should do skating, conditioning, skating, conditioning, skating.
She doesn’t live by herself. She still live with her family. You can have your own car at any age honestly but you can’t drive it by yourself until 16 in most states. She’s had her license to drive for over a year now.

Usually through our proshop. Most of our skates are from Italy though so we have to special order them.
