TRUEly funny (pun intentionally forced 😂). Or REALilty funny (this worked less well, but in my opinion is a better joke 😊). ❤ the comment. I did not think of this, but really got a good look at just how good Ms. Golden is at drawing realism, especially since it is not her preferred style And I get the sense she basically never practices it. I guess she has mastered using her mind and hand to put the picture she has in her mind onto the page. Good on you, Ms. Golden.
At first I was like 'is she looping that for some edgey editing style because the drawing is so simple the explanation is too long?' and then after the 4th or so attempt I was like 'nope, she's just trying to draw a circle.' 😂😂 Fair enough, we've all been there. My denial has gone so far that I now believe circles aren't real and that's why they're a pain in the butt to draw (except for those freaky times where it's like your hand is possessed and draws a perfect circle first time and you end up like "Huh. Thanks Satan!") 😂😂
i love how many attempts it took to draw the body of the first horse, it’s so real. but i want to see an episode of my little pony or something in that style so bad it’s so cute.
I'm derp level. If anyone tries to say you can only draw cartoons, show them this. I think the #5 horse looks fantastic. I'm impressed by your skillz. Horses aren't easy to draw realistically and you made it look so damn easy. So...grr. 😆😛
I would love to see you draw 100 horses in increasing detail! I never see anyone draw horses anymore, I would love to see more horse drawings sometime!
I have a theory, based on you expressing that you were a 2.5, that the reason I'm the most fond of 3 is because that's the level where you're most yourself and when you're making art in a style that's true to who you are, you're more likely to excel at it. They were all good pictures, but 3 is the one that stood out to me as the best. This was a cool concept for a video. I hope other artists make videos with this idea because it would be interesting to see how each different artist approaches this idea.
In 2017 at the age of 62 I did my first painting. I had never had art lessons. Someone wanted to purchase it!!! I then did 15 commissions in a row. I became frustrated because I felt I didn’t know how to properly paint. I doubted myself, so I stopped doing commissions and then stopped painting. People seemed to appreciate my style but I couldn’t embrace it. I stopped watching all painting RUclipsrs except Baylee Jae and you!!!!!! You stayed on the list because I absolutely love your style. The cats, the ant, all of it!!! Please don’t change because you are great!!!!
Level 2 is around my level of detail and pretty similar to my overall art style, however I make cartoony backgrounds and landscapes quite often that gives the drawing more world and I love doing it in simple looking stylized art like this People often say or think less detailed art is less valuable and "easy" but it's very fun to make and with enough time you can build entire worlds in just a few art pieces
Say neigh to naming the parts in level 4 - the highly advanced ones sure came out awesome - but do I prefer them? Nope I don't haha... I'm a simple kinda guy and love the cartoony ones of yours that make me smile and fuzzy
The cat hair on your iPad is too relatable. My iPad and all my traditional art has at least one cat hair somewhere. As I type this there is one on the bottom right of my screen.
My artstyle is the stylization of lvl 3 with the shading of level five ^^' I absolutely adore your art, I really wish I could make mine as ~shapey~ as yours sometimes. Also, your realism looks amazing, especially with a HORSE (which is famously the hardest animal to draw)
This goes for all your videos but especially ones like this - I love your editing style! The doodles, the fonts, the format, it all feels intentional, cohesive, and charming.
I had a moment tonight where I tried to doodle one of your hatch faces, and I redid the circle so many times and I got so frustrated with myself and felt kind of bad. Kasey, from the bottom of my heart, thank you so much for showing how many times you redrew that horse's body. It made me laugh, and it made me feel so much better, knowing that you too, are insane 🖤
I love all of the styles! And its so impressive that you can go so far from one end to the other, this video is a great example of how to work with simple vs complex shapes and an exercise I definitely want to try!
This video is such a parallel to my sculpting adventure where I’m going from realism and broadening to include different levels of stylization! Like, just play this in reverse and that’s my sculpting journey 🤣 It was so cool to see someone else document their journey!
I think 3 is my level, and 4 as my “realistic as possible”. Awesome video, as always! ❤❤ Video idea: draw your followers pets as you drew the first one! Would be so fun to see. ❤
Personally, I think I’m at a 3.5!! These all looks amazing btw!! And I agree with the comment saying you drawing realistically feels illegal, I’ve loved your art and style for years😭🩷
Thanks this is so helpful to figure out a style you like! I'm only good at realism but the style I really love is around 2 so I really want to move in that direction 😊👌
This is super great video expressed by a super great sentence 😂. But it is a great video. ❤ It makes me think and appreciate more what I, and others, might be trying to achieve in terms of drawing an object beyond abstract, impressionism, and other such styles. I am super impressed with your last drawing. I would love to see this process with other drawings because then you get to stretch and I get a super great video (and super great English sentences 😊). Somehow this video speaks to me more than draw something in less and less amounts of time. The time pressure somehow is not helpful to me because I get distracted by the time while this as an exercise seems like I get to do the same type of thing without getting distracted by pressure. I guess maybe if someone else would time me, it might help, but then you do not get to finish the drawings and look at the cuteness that you might miss out on if you are as good as Kasey Golden ❤. Love this video, clearly 😊. Love that it is family friendly. Your content usually makes me smile, but sometimes blush and I can watch this video in any environment without blushing, which is a great thing.
I'm more of a 4 and/or 5. There are some days my art looks like a 3. Though, I got to say...I cannot draw cute things at all. So 1 is something I could never do. Drawing semi-realistic is something that's oddly set in my brain, then I worked hard in learning it better. Took me the better part of my life to figure out how to draw it properly on the computer verses pencil/pen on paper. There's so many things I would love to give you tips on. But that's just me haha! Though, I do love to see artist create things outside their comfort zone!
Yeah somewhere between #2 & #3 looks good to me. I've never worried about realism. I tried with animals when I was younger. I could do it, but didn't enjoy it as much as drawing in a cartoony style. Doesn't stop people from telling me that I could draw something really well if I'd just take the time to put more effort into it. LOL
I am a straight 4 most of the time. I like the small but noticeable gap between realistic and comic. Or as you said, drawing as accurate as possible without losing the stylization aspect of a comic medium!
I draw in between your 4 and 5 horse. Although, the only horse I've drawn recently was a white unicorn in a multimedia piece in the most realistic style I could achieve with alcohol markers. In my artwork, it's on a separate piece of paper standing in front of an actual, printed photograph of a forest, which I extended the scenery of beyond the photo with gouache. It's like a portal to a fantasy world! ✨🐴✨
This is a fantastic video. You should do this same challenge with your Original characters, mainly because I REALLY want to see a realistic Hatch. @KaseyTheGolden
Choosing to draw a horse of all things 5 different times is absolutely wild to me, it’s like drawing a realistic motorcycle or an architectural diagram
This was oretty cool to see! (Subsribed now.) Your art skills are very impressive and its so cool to watch the art process. Motivating too. Makes me want to try this challenge partially. I prinarily draw dogs, carroon dogs. (Style inspired by PAW Patrol. Perfect place to learn how to draw.) I mostly draw with a mouse on firealpaca so im not sure how well this challenge would turn out, but I'll think on it. Have other art ideas right now for the time being.
I'm like a 4.4, which I did not expect. My shading style is actually more complex than the level 5, but I still use linework, thus I placed it a little below
My usual art style is probably more of a 3.5 or 4... sometimes a 5 because I have to be extra about everything. I'd love to get comfortable with more stylized or cartoony art styles. I've always admired the skill it takes to make those bold stylistic choices. (Also, I'd get a lot more done if I didn't spend literal days to finish painting and shading everything 😩)
While I tend to do Levels 2 to 5 of detail fairly often, I would say that I do 3 to 3-1/2 in terms of art style and a 4 1/2 for shading the most when I’m drawing. :)
I devolved from drawing individual gauges on instrument clusters to just wildly sketching on the page until something stuck. My main style doesn't even have an outlining layer. I just never remove the sketch, and cel shade it like a 1920s art deco poster.
I fall into a level 4.5 in anatomy, but I just can’t draw cute loose styles . I wish I could but it’s genuinely hard i find myself drifting back to “facts” and making sure it looks “like the animal” because I worry about being misinterpreted ;v;
Who else looked at the thumbnail and saw that you couldn’t see the tail on the blurred horse and instead of thinking it was detail you thought it was taking away a horses tail? No one?
On a scale from 1 to 5, what’s your level?!
Most days, I'm a 1.5. If I feel fancy, 2.5-3.5. Rarely or never a 4/5. :3
2
~ 4
Around a 3.8!
3.5-4
It’s so wild seeing you do realism, it feels somehow illegal
You should do a still life with wacky objects
You’re telling me. I blacked out. 😭

You te technically have to know horse anatomy before you can simplify it
It is illegal the police are on their way
i think it wouldve been hilarious if you added a 'level 6' but its just a photo of a horse
I was thinking the SAME THING 😂
TRUEly funny (pun intentionally forced 😂).
Or REALilty funny (this worked less well, but in my opinion is a better joke 😊).

some people can draw so real they can make a horse look like an actual picture, they are incredibly skilled.
