This is beautiful and a stellar way for me to procrastinate without feeling guilty about watching crappy videos because this is far from crap. Never stop playing piano :) You have the all-to-rare ability to capture the essence of each song you perform. You never simply play notes, you feel them. That's something many musicians can only hope to do.
I listen to the howls moving castle theme every night to go to sleep. But I end up not falling asleep and acting like I'm conducting. usually ending in tears by the beauty of the piece.
i dont mean to be offtopic but does anyone know a trick to log back into an Instagram account?? I was stupid lost the login password. I love any help you can give me.
The beauty..the soul...the passion...the perfection..Kyle Landry on the piano playing Joe Hisaishi (or anything really) is completely ineffable. Is this what falling in love feels like?
I wasnt bored AT ALL! This almost made me cry, i recently moved from my country for good and left the people I love, the things I threasure as well as my piano, this song kept me thinking on all of that, second by second, I just loved it so much I could hear this every single day. You are becoming my favorite pianist amongst Yanni. Thank you so much for those beautiful songs, I hope I could meet you someday and play at least as half as good as you do..
I absolutely LOVE the chord progression at 9:40 where he goes straight into D minor instead of Bb major... I always play it now when i fiddle around with Joe's tunes!
I love how at about 11:05 you can just see the effort he puts into this beautiful work because of just how intensely he is playing his sheet music is shaking! It's so amazing to see how dedicated he is and all of his work is just absolutely fantastic :)
I just binge-watched basically all of Hayao Miyazaki's films. Then I realized Kyle had done this medley. Dang, I would really LOVE to see a transcription of this on all-sheets!
You have no idea how much this means to me. I started piano 8 years ago because of Joe Hisaishi. You are my (second) favorite person in the world now. Thank you, thank you, thank you soooooo much man!
Not only that. Just being born doesn't mean you'll end up a certain way. I'm glad that he walked down the path he did. I'm grateful for all the things in his life that lead (led?) him to where he is now. Thank you, Kyle Landry. You are my musical hero.

Sit back, put on a pair of headphones and before you know it you'll be off on the most beautiful of journeys.
YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW LONG I WAS WAITING FOR THIS LITERALLY YEARS i thought you just ignored my kind hisaishi suggestions this whole time BUT THIS HAS SENT ME OVER THE MOON i'm crying because you have no idea what this means to me thank you so much!
the cat!! lmaoo Aside from that, seriously Kylelandry, you, there, playing the piano makes me cry everytime cus gawddamn the feels is overwhelming. idk if its normal to cry when hearing such good music but u made me cry. i hope you have your success in life man YOU ROCK!!
To this day this is still my favourite piano piece out there. It just gives me such chills, and the memories of the movies combined with the excellent piano pieces just makes me feel so good inside. This video deserves so many more views than it has.
Oh man. I have to thank you Kyle for putting oriental wind in this medley. I never heard of oriental wind until now. It's absolutely amazing! Thanks for introducing it to me!
Hot damn, this was fantastish! I've listened to your rendition of Howl's Moving Castle a number of times, but this medley was entirely unique with the key changes and tempo moderations. THE BEST, though, was that smooth jazzy ending, where you kept doing trills and rolls and just kind of classing it up. Love it man, you inspire the hell out of me.
Ever considered Princess Mononoke? :) Or Laputa as well. You should definitely make another medley. P.S: Yin's Piano from Darker Than Black is really nice (hint hint)
Spirited Away is my all-time favorite animated movie, and has my favorite Hisaishi score as well. I also love Howl's, though, and didn't mind one bit that One Summer's Day was basically just an intro-outro
I've watched you play the piano for years, now. And yet, you still amaze me with your talent. I was actually inspired to start playing the piano again a couple years ago after watching your videos for the first time. One of the best decisions I've made. Thanks for sharing the beautiful music you make, Kyle. Absolutely wonderful.
Kyle you made this whole medley your own in so many ways. If you play it enough times you almost think this was one full song.... when you make someone get shivers in the middle of 80 degree heat and goosebumps, you my friend are doing something right!
I love reading the description as I listen because you can tell he always puts a lot of time in his description and it makes it just that more personal. Love you Kyle!! Thank you for sharing a bit of your talent with us :D
I am very sad that most people cannot watch and enjoy the beauty of a pianist playing... With all the Vines and garbage today peoples attention span is that of a goldfish... Youre so very talented and I appreciate all that you do.
I give my praise and thanks to the man that created arpeggios. Just imagine how different the world of music would be without them. I also thank Kyle for using arpeggios in a way I've never seen.
hey! That was a really beuatiful way on how you created the arrangement of the medley! Its brings me back to the days when i never stoped watching these movies. Thanks for all the music.
Hey Kyle. I've always wanted to see you redo One Summers Day. It is easily one of my favorite Joe Hisashi pieces and you completely nailed it. I've been a fan forever and love your work man. Keep it coming :)
This deserves more views! This sounds cliche, but it literally took my breath away. It was beautiful and made me want to watch all of Miyazaki's movies again. Brilliant!
My favorite Japanese musician being played by my favorite pianist on youtube. You inspire me Kyle Landry. Starting from Dearly Beloved 2008 I have learned at least 10 songs because of you! Thank you for being such an amazing and enthusiastic pianist! THAT DEDICATION MAKES ME HAVE GOOSEBUMPS!
Kyle, you truly inspire me to play more. I almost quit piano but then came across your videos and really just felt like i should maybe try harder and i really enjoy the instrument now :) so thank you! and you are amazing.
Kyle, please ignore everyone who says that this is your worst so far. I loved the liberties you took with expression and melody. you took three well-loved, familiar songs and made them your own. I believe that's what music is all about...anyway, I loved this, and it's great to listen to when you're stuck doing math homework :) thanks!
As pianist of 9 years, I've done my share of interpreting music to adapt to how I see it. Every pianist is entitled to his view on how a music can be played. In fact, as it was mentioned earlier, music shouldn't ever be stagnant. It's a dynamic art form, just like visual art. Arranging music is an art form on its own. It doesn't have to portray the same feel as the original. On the contrary, I've seen arrangements made that give feelings that are polar opposites from the original. Still awesome.
The simplicity in this one is rather alluring, and it makes this piece beautiful too... Not that I'm not a fan of your big and powerful arrangements, but these pieces sort of felt the need to be more delicate with, so I'm glad you took that approach when playing this extra long medley. XP
I'm so happy that you've included Oriental Wind in your medley too! It's one of my Joe Hisaishi favorites. Thank you for your work, Kyle. Every upload is like a present for us~
Damn man. This really inspires me to keep playing. Thanks so much man. It's been a while since I've clicked on your videos, and I see it's my own loss HAHA. So amazing Kyle...Hearing this medley reminded me I have one of these beautiful songs literally sitting in a envelope above me, just begging to be taken out and learned. I think I'm going to do that in the next couple weeks...thanks Kyle, you're absolutely brilliant, keep going, no matter what anyone says :)
I've got to like this man, I raise my hat to you, this is so brilliantly and Beautifully done, the dynamic energy you put to it astounds me. One of the BEST Ghibli piano pieces on RUclips!
Your songs are beautiful.. they just really warm my soul and makes me walk a memory lane, one of great experiences! May you continue your works and may we be here to hear them, keep on rocking kyle
You are the only one who plays those songs by heart! (except for Joe Hisaishi himself) Keep playing! Your musics are just sooooo good! Maybe you should try to record them as CD, I will absolutely buy it!
The reason Kyle is better than any half bit youtuber is due to his original interpretations on popular music.. If I want to listen to Comptine, or Kingdom Hearts Melodies in their standard form I'll listen to the original. Yes, on occasion sometimes his variations do contrast from the original, but that is what makes his uploads interesting and a delight to listen to. This, ironically despite your comment, is more faithful to the originals than most, and is very enjoyable imo..
That was amazing. I'm having chills of nostalgia because I watched all of these movies with my sister back when I was a little kid. We don't get to see each other much now but this reminded me of the fun times she and I shared and I even began to tear up remembering the enjoyment I had while watching these movies with her. Thank you for making this video. :D
Kyle - you are so incredibly talented! I've been listening to several of your videos for a couple weeks now. Just amazing! Never stop playing - and please never stop sharing with the world! :)
If you wanted to hear the exact rendition of the score then just listen to the score...or listen to another pianist just covering the song note for note. It takes talent to produce something that puts a new angle on a classic piece without distorting it, which I believe has been accomplished here. Great job, Kyle, and keep it up!
Beautiful. I love Studio Ghibli's and Hayao Miyazaki's lovely movies, Joe Hisaishi's magical and wonderful music in their movies and your awesome piano playing!
Love the whole arrangement! I actually hoped "Path of the Wind" would be in your medley, but hey, these pieces are all great and we can't have everything we desire. Keep up the good work!
This piece has been so beautiful I feel it is justified to shower you with praise for your medley and your contribution to the variation of Hisaishi's work. Howl's moving castle has always held a special place in my heart and it's the song that got me obsessed with piano again--I really love your adaptation, and it's simply brilliant. I think I'll have this played at my wedding--thank you, thankyou, thankyou.
There are people that I've seen live that play an hour plus of music, all from memory, missing maybe a few inner notes that most people wouldn't even notice weren't the right notes. It's the most fascinating thing to me that people can do something so well, the dexterity required is just unbelievable.
Kyle landry!!! I really really really love your oriental wind arrangement!! I would appreciate it if you posted a video of just oriental wind an share sheet music!!! It would make my day! ^^
This is utterly gorgeous as always Kyle! Time doesn't matter in music; whether it be 6 or 16 minutes ..What matters is the effort and devotion a person puts into it and you definitely put those two aspects in all your pieces and a whole lot more!!
Oh this is so beautiful! Also a few of things, you have an adorable cat who clearly loves you very very much. Also my thanks for this very long video as that means I don't have to hit repeat NEARLY as often as I normally do with your music.
I was listening to you play while I was study, and at 10:46 I heard the music become more intense and it blew me away. Fantastic job. Any tips on piano creativity?
I love how he just SWOOSHED his cat ahahah

+Madalyn Amber Well said. Completely agree.
When it got to the howls moving castle part i just wanted to cry

The way you play the howl's moving castle theme just moves me every time. It's such a chilling yet uplifting tune.
Every piece is beautiful but the way you played that waltz from Howl's was just wow, really man.
I give my praise and thanks to the man that created arpeggios. Just imagine how different the world of music would be without them. I also thank Kyle for using arpeggios in a way I've never seen.

Studio Ghibli + Kyle Landry = Ultimate peace on Earth.

A medley of Joe Hisaishi's magical works...woven together by Kyle Landry! My day has just brightened..
As pianist of 9 years, I've done my share of interpreting music to adapt to how I see it. Every pianist is entitled to his view on how a music can be played. i really like to listen to your songs especially this one while working, it really calming and helps me concentrate
I love the part from 4:12 to 4:49 so freaking much. The way you played that part from howl's moving castle is so touching
I'm so happy that you've included Oriental Wind in your medley too! It's one of my Joe Hisaishi favorites. Thank you for your work, Kyle. Every upload is like a present for us~
you're an inspiration to pianists out there like myself. this is what going to a prestigious music college and a master teacher produces.
I remember watching these when I was 8. I think I'm gonna watch it all again.. It's so beautiful! I wish I can play like you.
Oh my god. My favourite piece of music of all time! From spirited away! Amazing and beautiful !!
Why did u add a jazzy style to the first song? I really liked the pure clean feeling from that song. You're awesome!
Crap, your cover of One summer's day at the very beginning made me cry so much I couldn't hear the rest of your awesome play ! Gotta hear it again !
You are the only one who plays those songs by heart! (except for Joe Hisaishi himself)
Keep playing! Your musics are just sooooo good! Maybe you should try to record them as CD, I will absolutely buy it!
Oh man, this is so awesome. As soon as I heard Oriental Wind I got a huge smile on my face. I love this medley, Kyle! Great job.
Dude, extremely impressed, I loved that kind of jazzy feel you had going at the beginning. Amazing work man!
because of you Kyle, i've started to learn piano. i'm 31 now, but i believe nothing would be late because of our passion.. :)

Better than everything.. This is just wonderful. Please, keep going on ; this music is the most beautiful I have ever heard. Thank you so much, Kyle.
Beautiful. I love Studio Ghibli's and Hayao Miyazaki's lovely movies, Joe Hisaishi's magical and wonderful music in their movies and your awesome piano playing!
This is what I needed to start the day! Coffee with a drop of Medley ♥
Love the whole arrangement! I actually hoped "Path of the Wind" would be in your medley, but hey, these pieces are all great and we can't have everything we desire. Keep up the good work!
Oh dear, I'm totally in love w your arrangement and playing. I can listen to this forever. Please sell this tune on iTunes! I'll definitely buy it.
This piece has been so beautiful I feel it is justified to shower you with praise for your medley and your contribution to the variation of Hisaishi's work. How timely. I really needed this to accompany me while I study for my exams.
You bring back my love to Joe Hisaishi's music. Thank you.
I have to say this is really beautiful. Although I do love the original pieces as they are, your interpretation of each made me love them more!
Beautiful the amount of emotion you play with is phenomenal that was a million dollar performance
I absolutely loved it! I could listen over and over again... It's so beautiful.
Kyle landry!!! I really really really love your oriental wind arrangement!! I would appreciate it if you posted a video of just oriental wind an share sheet music!!! It would make my day! ^^
