Without a doubt, The Dark Knight is one of the best films in history and Aaron Eckhart's performance as Harvey Dent / Two-Face is highly underrated and in my opinion he should also have been nominated for supporting actor alongside Heath Ledger.
The final scene with Harvey was very tragic, Aaron Eckhart's performance really captures that of a man whose lost everything, and even until his final moments. Man, is Two-Face really overshadowed in this film.
@@hellblazer-_-Viktor is definitely my favorite villain right up there with Dent. Viktor especially. He means well but he’s so broken he’s willing to go to any lengths, no matter how immoral, to save the one he loves
As someone that just had their hands wrapped up from a skating accident for a couple weeks, this did hit home differently lol. Skin attached to gause does not "give" easily, or painlessly, at ALL. 😂
I almost agreed with you, but the scene where Batman leaves the coin/ Dent finds it is before the Gordon or Joker scene. Dent seeing the coin and being happy about it, only to flip it over and see it charred was him finding out that Rachel was dead. You do raise a fair point though, this does put Dent in his most vulnerable state, it's only when the Joker comes in to essentially put the idea of chaos into his head. (Having said that, even if the Joker didn't do that I could still see Dent going after Maroni and co. just not in the same way we saw.)
Two-Face was not a perfect comic adaptation. He would have been perfect if he had a split personality. Other than that, he's pretty perfect. I love every aspect of this Two Face from the voice to the look and everything. I didn't really like how good of a person this Harvey was. Comic and TAS versions are more complex. Still, there are many humanizing scenes like yelling at Gordon and the scenes with Bruce Wayne. The Long Halloween movie version is more tragic, even the comic version too. Harvey is more relatable and such a charismatic villain as Two Face. But you're right, instead of a split personality, he has the willingness not to give into chance. 4:57 him, Sal Maroni and especially Mr.Reese were great characters in the movie as Carmine and Ra's were in Begins.
I think the one problem I have with Nolan's version of Harvey is that the main reason for his turn into villainy was external, not internal. I always like it more when his change comes from his own fear, anger and insecurities fester and transform him from a well-intentioned crusader of justice into a raging, wounded man lashing out at the world. Tying his change into villainy mostly because his fiancée died doesn't feel as impactful.
Was not wanting to take down the corrupt pigs now an internal reason enough. Since they were never fair. (In the Nolan verse Harveys dad was a cop who abused his mom).
@@julshunt64 The problem is that this is a basic goal Harvey shared in every Batman story. Also, the detail about his father was only in the novelization, so watchers won't usually put it together through the movie. His cataclyst is still Rachel and her death.
I never really understand why everyone in the movie washes his balls so much Early on. They try too hard to make him this larger than life , can do no wrong presence. The scene where he disarms the guy in court makes me cringe because of this. It's like okay way to lay it on super thick lol "But your honor I'm not done" woooow he doesn even wanna take a break from work after almost dying!! I half aspect them to lift him up on their shoulders and chant his name lol
Nobody asked if Harvey was ok, until it was too late. They should have been there for him. Gordon should not have asked him questions immediately about what he knows about the kidnappers and Batman should not have given him that coin.
Never watched TDKR so can't judge but Bane seems good. Still would've been infinitely a better movie if Crane and Two Face had a bigger role and he wasn't killed off. As of now, Crane aka scarecrow is by far one of the most boring villains. And Cillian Murphy isn't at all to blame.
@@leafyishereisdumbnameakath4259Scarecrow has always been underutilized, unfortunately. He would've been a main villain in Batman Triumphant/Unchained, but that film was cancelled.
I remember being a kid when this movie came out and I didn't really understand the concept of recasting so I literally thought the actress was the same person as Katy Holmes and was trying to figure out how her face and voice changed so much lol. Tbh I really didn't like the version of her in dark night she always felt a little annoying but now that I go back to batman begins Rachel gives me the same vibe in that movie too. I think she is just unlikeable in general lol
This was an Incredible Masterpiece for My All Time Favorite Version of Harvey Dent/Two Face in Live Action. The Batman The Dark Knight Trilogy’s Version of Harvey Dent/Two Face Portrayed by Aaron Eckhart is My Second Favorite Version of Harvey Dent/Two Face in DC Media only outranked by The DC Animated Universe Version of Harvey Dent/Two Face Voiced by The Late Richard Moll (1943 - 2022).

Harvey is definitely one of the most sympathetic Batman villains. Too bad writers don't use him to his full extent in movies or shows all that much.
I know! Same thing with Croc. They treat these villains like random crooks and monsters
They used it pretty well in this fln
Also Mister Freeze

Gordon (to Harvey): Where's my family?
Harvey: Where my family died.
Yikes. That's the last time Harvey told someone how he was doing.
The hard work put in to make Harvey real by Aaron Eckhart is never considered..
That's not FAIR!
I think he is a good man as well as a good villain with some fair reasons...both sides of a same coin
Fuck, Man. I never noticed because of the camera angle but he straight tore that gauze off. God. DAMN.

Exactly, I think seeing the coin broke him, but the Joker guided the pieces if that makes sense
Great video, man. Wonderful analysis of a great character and great performance
That opening, i love it. "This is so sad..." fucking laughed up a lung.
Glad you appreciate it 😂
Gr8 video
I always wanted to deep dive into Harvey's character.
Thank you! He’s always overshadowed by Joker in this movie.
Amazing essay 💪🏼
Thank you!
Introduced in daylight, finished off at night.
Remember that.

I just realized.. Kevin used two different voices, one for Batman and one for Bruce.
When he says "Harvey, No".. he used the Bruce voice.

Great breakdown of this character.
Thanks Man
Hopefully he's in the Batman sequel
I’d love that
Seriously, especially with the mob angle. I'd love to see Dent take over the mob he swore to put away.

Do you usually analyze stuff with this much lack of chill?
Something tells me you may habe washed a pair in your time.
So where do you want them?
Nobody asked if Harvey was ok, until it was too late. They should have been there for him. Gordon should not have asked him questions immediately about what he knows about the kidnappers and Batman should not have given him that coin.
Lol imagine if two face accidently dropped the coin and it rolled down a sewer pipe
"Harvey? NoOoOOooOoOooo...."
How is Harvey Dent?
I wish they didn’t kill him off and he should’ve been the main villain in Dark Knight Rises. Bane didn’t really work for me.
Same here! Bane sucked in The Dark Knight Rises
