Moving, especially in the summer, is so exhausting. Kudos to you and Michael for embarking on this amazing journey in the middle of July! I’ve been getting my parents condo packed, moved and prepped to put on the market, WHILE I toss 80% of things I’ve had in my home, prep it to make it accessible for them and Reno the main floor and basement to move them in. All while getting the Cottage open and maintaining that for the season. Needless to say, I’m exhausted and their move is just from Markham to Stouffville. Once you get on the road and settled into your new home, it will be all worth it! Side note: my parents moved us from BC to here in Ontario the last week of November many years ago when I was 9. I do remember driving through the prairies and northern Ontario in snow. Not sure if they appreciated the move in the winter vs summer, but at least they weren’t sweating 😂 We’ll miss you here in Ontario ❤ My cousins Started the Alliston Humane Society, in Everett, Ontario (Alliston) I’ve spent many days with the dogs and cats there. One thing my Cousin Ernie use to say before he passed away just months before Oban did, “For most of the animals there, the shelter was the Ritz Carlton in comparison to what they were rescued from.” I always felt horrible that they were all there, but his words really stuck with me. If people would STOP buying from Kijiji (and Craigslist and Facebook) from backyard breeders, I truly believe there wouldn’t be so many abandoned animals in shelters. If you choose to get a dog from a breeder, RESEARCH them and ensure they are a RESPONSIBLE and ETHICAL one. One who does ALL the OFA testing on joints, DNA Health Testing, Temperament Testing and matching of the parents and STRICT interview process and contracts with potential owners. Responsible Breeders ONLY breed once or twice every several years and ONLY when they have families lined up. You also have 24/7 access to support with the breeder and they insist on updates and if anything were to change, the animal Goes straight back to the breeder FIRST. (Thus, keeping them out of the shelter system). My boy Spirit, was a special Gift sent to me right after Gordie passed. Only reason I agreed to him was due to the timing and the fact that I’ve known his breeder since I took sheep herding lessons with Oban 16+ years ago. That and she lives 15 min away and he came with an entire file folder of his parents and grandparents and I have constant contact with her. ***What I am seeing now, is a lot of dogs ending up in shelter after everyone went out and got a “pandemic puppy”. Once everyone went back to life or they realized their choice of dog breed was too much for them to handle, they sent them to shelter. It’s horrible and disgusting. STOP BUYING DOODLES from Kijiji, Craigslist and Facebook! If you THINK you want a Doodle, GET A POODLE! There’s a WONDERFUL Standard Poodle Sanctuary right here in Ontario! In fact, they are just in Whitby, Ontario! I see you going through what I went through with Oban, with Hotch and Leroy. It’s so deeply hard when they lose their back ends and they become incontinent. It truly does take a special human, like yourself, to care for these beautiful pups. I kept Oban going a lot longer than I should have. He hated the diapers and would cry everyday when I’d have to give him an “under carriage” bath. As my soul dog at 16 years, I did everything for him and never wanted to let him go. I would do it again. But after losing Oban and Gordie, 1 year 12 days later, my heart just couldn’t do it. Especially with my dad going downhill as fast as he has with the Lewy Body Dementia. I will never feel bad for having my Spirit Puppy from his VERY responsible and ethical breeder. He was meant to be. Please try not to judge everyone who has a dog from a GOOD breeder. You never know what their story is or how they came about to have that pup. ❤ You know I appreciate you SO much and everything you do for your pack. ❤ Safe travels to NS❤ 🐾

Moving is such a huge job. I've moved several times, from one state to another, a few times and locally as well. It gets easier, because you develop systems but it's so stressful. I'm not doing it again, I don't have the energy to go through it all. You're getting it done and taking care of elderly dogs is even more work & stress. The shelf unit, in the studio, should just leave it for the new owners. They could use it for the time being.
Man, we just moved from Northern Ontario to Southern Ontario. I had literally a weeks notice (my man's job be that way when it comes to transfers). So I understand your struggle!
