I watched ur video this morning and by this afternoon I 90% finished my Tundra sliders. Tomorrow ill bend my tube to the 45° fit and weld out. You sir are the man 🤙🏽
Man, I wish I had a whole shop too. I dont know how to make things, but I love learning and working with my hands. This would be a great project for my 4th gen 4Runner
Just found your channel, super pumped to see what you do in the future. I hope your channel grows as you're producing extremely high quality content that more people need to see!
@@RathaSochenda im going to have to steal your idea on printing a coping jig for tubing, its a lot more durable and accurate than a wrap around! Just an idea, your channel could become a great HUB for up and coming Engineers/Designers/Makers!
Lol go for it. Yeah it’s pretty accurate way. Never thought about this channel being a HUB for your designers. I’ll keep that in mind for future content that I make.
8:10 As a welder, if I were you, I'd pull out a test plate and fiddle around with puddle manipulation. Just run some straight practice beads down a 4 to 8" long 1/8" plate (or 3/16" if you're worried about burning through). Try holding your gun still untill you get a good size puddle then move the gun quick enough to the edge of your puddle to start building up the next puddle. Or you can weave your gun from side to side making sure to spend roughly the same amount of time on the edges as you are moving across the middle of the weave. That way you're not compromising the strength of your welds with those fish eyes; and most importantly, they still look good.
Also, where did you learn to CAD? The addition of creating the 3D model really makes your designs come to life and gives your content and channel this extra special and entertaining aspect. Thanks for sharing!
@@RathaSochenda If you're looking for suggestions, I'd love to see some in depth videos of how you design in solidworks! How you go from an idea in your head to a dimensioned design on your computer.
You did a great job on the sliders, I don't have the high buck tools .only a lincoln210 welder, and a harbor freight pipe bender. I'm going to try it. Got honey do's first
Sweet! Great attention to detail. Keep up the great content. I would love to learn some drafting/design skills like that! Those are some pretty cute kiddos!
Damn thats was a quality video. Throughly enjoyed it. Subscribed. Its my dream to do this these type of projects for my 4runner. I am a welder but i dont know how to cus round tubing. Just square tubing fabrication.
Great build, not to hate on you or anything but for something that’s gonna be taking abuse you don’t want to do tacks to get a dime look on your welds. You don’t get proper penetration or fusion with the base metals and it’s prone to breaking under stress. You wanna run a straight bead if you can’t get consistent dimes you want by weaving. with a little practice it’s not hard to get a weave down that will stack dimes. But again not trying to hate and it was a great watch!
Looking good buddy. I like the grip tape. I thought of bed liner on mine, but quickly nixed that idea as you drag your leg across them getting out of the jeep. Didn't think of the grip tape. Had you had issues with the wife dragging her legs on them getting out? Mine are due for a repaint and may have to add the grip tape.
Just discovered you channel, great stuff. How do you keep your shop so clean?! lol. Am a former automotive designer I’m trying to get comfortable with welding sliders on my Sequoia.
Thanks. The secret is it’s only clean on camera. But aside from that i make it a standard to keep the shop clean every night no matter what project I’m working on. Yeah all I can say is what work for me was just practice/seat time and having a rhythm in my head as I welded to me be consistent.
I love it helps a lot when you have to look up multiple references. Especially when I do my taxes I have to multiple windows up and when I video edit as well. I thought about going with one super wide 49” but have to look left and right vs up and down was deal breaker for my neck.
Just a couple of things. First of all the sliders look good. Second, welding straight to the frame is a no no. It actually hurts the structual integrity of the frame. Third, you need to weld full beads instead of tack welding the whole thing. Cheers mate.
Enjoyed the content and detailed description of your fabrication. Thumbs up and subscribed. Quick question about what CAD software you use and the cost?
Great video, I like the 3d printed template. A quick question for any Aussies watching, is it true we cannot weld to the chassis but can drill and bolt or would we have to use existing holes?
I think bolting to existing holes should be strong enough or drilling and then bolting would work. There are many applications out there that do the bolt on. I just welded it for maximum strength but it’s not totally necessary.
I almost never comment, but I will do whatever I can to bump your channel! I really like your content man, you got the right stuff!
Wow thank you so much I really appreciate it. And thanks again for commenting and rooting for this channel. ✊🏾🤙🏾

dang..... bro... you hella dope!!!
How do you like your monitor setup, one on top of the other.
Going to setup a new workstation for the house and that looks really nice.
I love it helps a lot when you have to look up multiple references. Especially when I do my taxes I have to multiple windows up and when I video edit as well. I thought about going with one super wide 49” but have to look left and right vs up and down was deal breaker for my neck.
What thicknesses did you use for all the materials? I'm going to make my own rock sliders and I can't decide between 1/8" and 3/16"
1/8 for tube and 3/16 for plate that welded to frame
Keep the videos coming mate I love it I’m a boilermaker by trade
Thanks! I’ll do my best!
Thx for the chill video. By any chance do you remember what settings you were using on your welder when you welded the sliders to the frame?
.030 wire D 4 setting I thing
Just a couple of things. First of all the sliders look good. Second, welding straight to the frame is a no no. It actually hurts the structual integrity of the frame. Third, you need to weld full beads instead of tack welding the whole thing. Cheers mate.

I think bolting to existing holes should be strong enough or drilling and then bolting would work. There are many applications out there that do the bolt on. I just welded it for maximum strength but it’s not totally necessary.
I feel something like 2 plates one on each side of the rail with 4 holes and 4 bolts running through each should attach it nicely
