My issue with celebs like DDG is that every chance they get, they take time to target the working class and those who experience poverty.
RARELY are they telling the ruling class what to do and how to improve as human beings.
RARELY do they hold those in power to account.

I do think that people think 9-5 is flipping burgers. I work a 9-5 and I’m a therapist at a short term residential treatment program. I may not be at a CEO income right now but I make a cute coin 🤷🏽♀️ in a few years I can make 6 figures. People don’t know the full scope of occupations out here. My sister is a nurse practitioner and she makes 6 figures. We ain’t all broke 🤣

You took the words out of mouth. Lots of 9 to 5 people make hundreds of thousands a month. Also most 9 to 5 jobs offer medical dental vision, retirement and deferred compensation. Most jobs will also pay benefits for your spouse and kids. So when you run your own business you have to pay for all those benefits. Dont forget to save some money away for retirement. That was such a dumb thing to say.

Yup. I’ve worked for a successful startup and that CEO was ALWAYS working. She was very successful but she was always on. I’m starting my business now and I’m always on. It’s not as easy as influencers make it seem. No one shows the behind the scenes sacrifices. So I completely get why someone wouldn’t want to start a business. You got paid a bit more, but it's also more responsibility. Paperwork, always on call, reports and meetings all the time. Most people make more doing overtime here and there without all the hassle.

As somebody who works in HR I tell people all the time if you want to be a business owner continue to work your 9-5 because thats a consistent paycheck, 401k plan where some companies will match your contribution, affordable healthcare, and depending on the job you can get deals on your Life insurance. I am a working a 9-5 and I do my job with pride. I have no interest in owning a business. I don't want the responsibility. I want to be done at 5. Or, in my case, 4:45. My job funds my life and future retirement, which I worked hard for and look forward to. I'm happy for people that want to work towards a business. It's just mot for me.

Most of these “entrepreneurs” business models are dependent on a customer base that works 9-5. Which is exactly when we get a cold, they get the flu. Perfect example: the pandemic. When we stopped working and couldn’t afford to buy products, couldn’t attend concerts/shows, eat at restaurants and go to bars, etc. a lot of these businesses did not survive the pandemic. The 9-5ers is what keeps this economy afloat.

I feel like some people don't understand the scope of 9-5 jobs. So many prestigious and high income professions are 9-5. It's not just jobs where people barely make minimum wage or jobs yhat aren't considered "prestigious". If anything these are the jobs that run the economy and keep entrepreneurs in a position financially to run their businesses. Not everyone is supposed to be a CEO. All jobs have a purpose

People who speak like DDG are under the impression that 9-5 only means working low level jobs. I worked a 9-5 for 15 years at Senior Officer level at a Financial Institution and it supported my life for many years until I moved to more freelance thanks to that great nest egg I accumulated from my little 9-5 with it's consistent cheque each month. Further more 9-5 keeps the world going the engineers, doctors, teachers, nurses etc plus if he has business I probably expect his staff work even beyond the typical 9-5 hours.

The future Dame Dash. Most small business owners work more hours than 9 to 5. My brother owns a trucking business without brand deals. And, when his trucks aren't moving, he does not make money.
As a 9 to 5ver, some of us make good money to take care of our responsibilities and some, without having to worry about the world being our necks because of what we say or do. Additionally, most people do not want to work structured hours; however, most people do what is necessary to provide for themselves and their families. People have the right to do whatever is necessary for them to sustain as long as they are satisfied and are reaching their full potential.
P.S. Remember COVID. The essential 9 to 5 workers were making money. We didn't have to create a podcast.
