- In the Section 2 Final, University of Kentucky Freshman, Sydney McLaughlin sets a World Junior Record indoors at 400m. She just misses the Indoor 400m Championship by .02. Kendall Ellis is the champion, running 50.34; setting a new Collegiate and American Record in Section 1 Final.
Sydney McLaughlin 50.36
Sharrika Barnette 51.07
Brionna Thomas 51.56
Briana Guillory 51.68
For a freshman that is a perfect score.
World Junior record? Everything to be proud of.
She was #1 in the U.S. as a ninth grader...a very young one (birthday mid-August). Barely 14 and #1 in the U.S. Are you shitting me? GOTTA be the first, last and only time that will ever happen!
Huge fan of hers. Did you know she long jumps over 20' & can high jump 6'? She could easily crush Jackie's heptathlon record.
Can't wait to see her kick ass in Tokyo, then Eugene, 2022 world indoors, 2023 in Budapest and 2024 in Paris...etc.
@@efisgpr I wouldn't say easily. She can run a fast 100mH, a good high jump and a heck of a 200 as well as a good long jump but the other three events are just so hard for a track sprinter to be good at.
Also something else - she won't be on the individual team for World Indoors, she doesn't have the standard. If she wants to run then she'll have to get that standard quick - like I mean as soon as indoor starts in December. She can be on the relay though.
A month ago at the world championships, Sydney broke her own world record in the 400 m hurdles, with the time of 50.68 seconds. Imagine what she could do WITHOUT those obstacles!
Her college stats say her 400 to 400mH difference is 2.5 to 2.7 seconds. So conservatively we can say 2.5 and it's 48.18 and being more aggressive we can use the 2.7 and it's 47.98.
@@dennisrobinson8008 her split when she anchored the last relay was 47.99. So your guess is spot-on. Femke Bol has similar differential when she won gold at the European Championships.
@@redrust3 that anchor leg would be worth 48.5 or so in an open race.
Not ashamed to say she would beat me in a race.
Sydney is now a 400mh world record holder and an Olympic gold medalist in Tokyo. 2022 world championship will be her next milestone.
And another one 🥶
Maintenant nous savons qu'elle a le record du monde en Oregon en 2022. En 50 secondes 60; je voudrais savoir quel est son record personnel sur 400 m plat
Amazing. Huge fan of McLaughlin. You go girl!
USA women's 400m appears to be in good shape ahead with future stars such as
Shamir Little, C. Okolo, Kendall Ellis, Sydney McLaughlin, Ashley Spencer, Phylis Frances, etc.
Don't forget Lynna Irby
None of them are international level; They will get smashed by Salwa Naser and Shaunae Miller.
I've become disappointed as of late with Cortney Okolo, but she is among 1/2 of them that have won medals in the Olympics or WC, that alone makes them international level. Phylis Frances having beaten Miller Uibo and Naser for the 2017 WC says your wrong. That's why they run the race.
That was a rainy day and the track was wet. Shaunae slipped near the finish. If it was a dry day; I'm sure Phyllis wouldn't have won.
You're kidding right? Irby went 49.80 in 60-degree weather, in a light rain, after a long season and McClaughlin went 50.07 at the beginning of the year in basically sheets of rain and has split 49-mid twice. They are unquestionably internationally competitive in the open 400m. Yes, Nasar and/or Miller could beat them but "smashed", if Irby and McClaughlin are healthy and executive decent race tactics, no way.
I hate that her Ellis and Irby weren't in the same section running against a time is extremely tough she wasn't even pushed the last 80-90 meters of this race she could've ran faster Ellis could've ran faster as well.
She pushed herself. Running a 400m, you run faster relaxed than when someone's breathing down your back.
Stevorn Richards that’s not true at all. Every competitors themselves say that it’s easier to put up faster times when pushed to do so. No athlete prefers to be out there alone because it’s mental. I work around them everyday 😊
Tae Djair if you watch races, form often breaks down when pushed.
@@godofnothing428 Sydney is a strong finisher and that's know by her coaches there's no doubt she would've been pushed along with Kendel to run faster. At the end of the day putting those two in the same heat would've produced faster times.
Tae Djair I agree, however with amateur athletes, this can be detrimental or just not make a difference. I run track and mostly if you run say a 10.9 100m in a slow heat, you’re running around the same if you’re running with fast people. But yea it is kind of dumb how they did it.
Baby Legend
That last 100! That is weight room, meeting track work. 😳 Wow...
La bella Sydney estuvo formidable
She look like she wasn’t even trying 🤯
These are among the best in the world , then look at hima das only 18 with 2018 being her breakthrough year and she is already 50.79. with olympics coming up in next 2 years she can maybye break 50 seconds
Her reading the time before she crossed, cost her that record.
Should certainly go sub 50 this outdoor season and then it should only get faster as she develops.
Race starts at 1:15
Synd has great form power and SIZE. She KNOWS how to BEAT them DRUMS. AWESOME TRAINER WHO EVER TRAINED HER.
She's phenomenal
Tough break 2/100th of a second off gotta still be tormenting her
Not even a half of a hiccup from winning it all
But she's still my favorite female track ⭐ star
She is beautiful!
Aye
Why isn't this the U20 world record? It still shows Sanya Richards-Ross' 50.82.
Sharrika Barnette is one hot mama
Commentators say olympian until you realised she was a teenager!!!
Biggest UK legend since Jared Lorenzon
Sydney looks like a fitter version of Joy Taylor.
World Class
SYDNEY IS BAE
Felix and phyllis will have a hard time
Mc fan, Why shoud she strive for 4rd and 5th best? She need to worry about catching Salwa Naser and Shaunae Miller.
She used to go to my Highschool my sister and her knew each other but they never talked
Brook Parker ok
Brook Parker now i get the privilege of replying to someone who's sister went to the same school as Sydney even though they never talked
Brook Parker cool fact man
Brook Parker i got a picture with her at NJ MoC 2017
u went to uc?
She bad
I've seen a few of her videos, especially since the World's...I don't knownwho she's talking to before racing, but apparently, they are giving her super speed! Maybe she's praying? Now I know where the term "God-speed" comes from!
I ship Sydney with Michael Norman
In the olympics there's gonna be a mixed relay. you guys will slay it with michael norman, la shawn merritt, kendall ellis and sydney mc laughlin
@Justin Gatlin Yes there is a mixed relay scheduled for the 2020 olympics.
And ya you're probably right he'll be 34 by then . Maybe rai benjamin or fred kerley
And if not sydney mclaughlin and kendall ellis it will be lynna irby and jessica beard.
Mike's mom is HOT🔥
Sucks to be settin world records…..yet she still more gorgeous than fast
Lol this girl has always just jumps off the track lol
Sydney gets stronger going into and leaving the final curve. If someone like lynna Irby stay with Sydney at that point Irby will get her because Irby has a kick at the end. Sydney s is 3/4 into the race.
Wrong.
She’s so fine
Wtf
what did your parents feed you as a child?
thid guy good genetics...she would be nothing without her dads genes
They fed her chocolate bars
@@hazelnutspred3348
Lol IKR...and Syd loves cheeseburgers and all kinds of stuff
