How to make Sprite - lemon lime soda from scratch

- Let’s make some sprite! This lemon-lime soda couldn’t be any easier, and the result tasted very very close to the stuff you can buy off the shelves, although maybe a little fresher. It doesn’t need to require any complicated ingredients, just some time to make what is known as an oleo sacrum which is the key to getting a drink that tastes less like lemonade, and more like, well Sprite.
Sprite is flavored from a mixture of lemon and lime. I always had figured it could be made by just mixing the juice of lemon and lime with soda water and sugar, but the resulting drink would be way too sour, and not have that overarching deeper citrus flavor. So today we are going to use a method to extract the oils from the rinds of the citrus, resulting in a more mellow, deeper citrus flavor.

I love this channel since i discovered the coke recipe. It blew my mind
I'm gonna try that recipe because I practically have all the ingredients. I've looked at other cola recipes but they all use food grade essential oils and I can't find those anywhere.
Henrik Jørgensen tell me how it goes
Did the cola from this channel really tasted like one?
Lmfao same
Anyone?
Thank you so much for just starting this video with a straightforward "Alright let's make some Sprite" at the very beginning and getting right into it!!!!! Made me so happy to not hear a drawn-out intro about what Sprite is!
Videos with those long intros suck but this is a masterpiece
here after watching Carmy make it on The Bear season 2 ep 6
The Same shit hahaha 😅❤
YOU'RE SOOOOO REAL FOR THISSSSSSS🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️
Hahahah!! Same!
Fucking this hahaha
me too
Oooh, that’s really cool. I had no idea it used the oils from the peel!
I use the oleo method when I sell fresh squeezed lemonade. Granted, my lemons and sugar don't sit in the cup that long, after 10 or 15 minutes, the sugar does excrete liquid and oil from the smashed lemons. This results in a MORE flavorful lemonade and I don't have to shake the cups that much to dissolve the sugar.
This video has the most realistic peeling 👏 Bravo!
I don't eat or drink any kind of citrus fruit, but my brother is really into Sprite, 7-Up, etc etc, so he would love seeing this video!
Just found your channel, keep up the great videos!!
Only 100k? This is amazing! Deservers more than silly 5 minute crafts
YEAH
I'm here because Carmy
Carmy?
You made both my favorite sodas
Coke and Sprite
I love you
Looks good thank for this recipe.
Yippie gonna make this right now
This a keeper and I will try the recipe
Just a thought you could add the peels sugar and water into a vacuum sealed bad and sous vide cook at 60° Celsius for 2 hours to speed up the process then strain through a cheesecloth to speed up the process as well as using clerified juice in the end product. Love this recipe.
Oleo saccharum is great for just lemonade. Everybody should look up Chef John's lemonade recipie
Good ol’ state fair lemonade
vg I can never watch foodwishes the same way because of this comment.
Ive never had soda before and my mo m said because its not good for you so tried this recipe! IT WAS SO GOOD
Muddling the peels and sugar helps the oleo to form faster. I usually let mine sit for a day at room temp so that most of the sugar dissolves
what if you heat it up? can you get more out of the peel that way?
@@MariuszWelna would not suggest heating it. You'll end up with candied peels
@@goldgrub3091 I put it on extremely low heat on a gas stove, only for a couple of minutes. This will made it into a syrup which is much easier to mix into drinks.
I appreciate the Flavor-Aid homage in the channel logo
This is some good stuff
Amazing looking recipe! Gonna try sometime at home 👍
I cant wait to make this
Man that looks so freaking good. Also got some of your stickers off your website and they're awesome. Reppin Flavorlab on my car now 🤙. Keep going man, I love your content
Do you still have them on your car?
@@ppowwderr hell yeah dude
Love it. Thank you
I don't have the time to make this but I have the time to subscribe!
That looks so delicious. I’m trying this. Thanks for the upload 🍋
Was it good?
@@brawlguy1249 it was! I kinda tweaked it a tad to make it a little more sweet to my liking but yes it was fantastic.
😱 🤯 I must try it
I ll try super taste thank you
I did not expect this to pop up on Your channel
THANK YOU
I can't find lemon in my area. We only have lime plants. I used to think lemons are ripe limes.
Lmao
I can't find limes, we only have lemons
@@he6agonzxdv467 buy online duh
Well that sucks
@@he6agonzxdv467I’m from Spain and we have both, where the hell do y’all live
Informative.
I came to this video because I was looking at the ingredients in a Sprite can a couple days ago and wondering that it surprisingly didn't look too bad, besides the excess sugar, and that you could probably make a healthier version of it at home without much problems.
Now that explains it, most of the lime taste comes from a concentrate of the only toxic part of the fruit, the peel. Which is there to protect it from smaller prey, not to be eaten.
came here for the Sprite sheet tutorial, stayed for the recipe lol
🔥🔥🔥👍👍👍👍 बहुत शानदार
The Bear brought me here
Maximum Oil Extractitude is the name of my new band.
Who’s watching this while drinking sprite?
Thanks
I used think limes were unripe lemons when I was little 😅😅
I once did this to get lemon scent in my beverage without acidity. It was kinda fun, but now i just buy lemon extract.
Nielsen massey has really good lemon extract. It has alcohol in it tho. There's also lemon paste, which doesn't contain alcohol, but haven't tried.
can you do a video on some of these drinks if you have the essential oils???
I make lime sorbet pretty often, and I wonder how it would taste if instead of using the zest directly, I made and used oleo saccharum? Are there any benefits to using oleo saccharum over zest, if the zest itself isn't undesirable to leave in the final product?
FLAVOOOOOOR LAAAAAAAB YEAH BOIIIII
Is it possible to store oleo saccharum at fridge/freezer and still keep it fresh? If yes, for how long?
good ol sprite, i cannot wait to watch how its done
Dreams ☺️☺️☺️
Is it possible to make it refined sugar free ? As in with maple syrup or coconut sugar ?
would i be able to adapt the recipe to make a strawberry mojito also used the original recipe and it was good
I can come close using more lime than lemon, plus the rinds and using my Soda Stream. I use a blender that liquifies the mixture and adjust tp taste for a close 7 UP
That sparkling water lol
For the McDonalds sprite you need to add a human soul
lets say you made a big batch, how long would be the shelf/fridge live? This also could spice up a loooooot of Cocktails!
As a food scientist I would say about a week to around 10 days
You can freeze the syrup and it will last forever.
To make it a syrup, simply add a little water to the final product and then freeze it.
Also, it will last longer than 10 days. It is sugar and acid, both are preservatives.
@@callumpearce9242 Thanks Bo
Does it have to be sugar? Would agave work or birch work?
What if you added a bit of citric acid to the peels? Would it help oxidize the peels and then extract the oils quicker?
could you use a sugar replacement for this instead, xylitol for example?
I Love Sprite!
Or use a pinch of baking soda, and water. Add the baking soda first.. the acids from the fruit activate it, when you add water, it turns it into natural soda water.
Question: why not zest the peel (grate it off), soak in sugar, add to soda water, then filter the soda water to get the peel out?
Linkesh Diwan if you do that you will likely lose carbonation
Noti gang
You should try making bubble gum!!!
Can l use this to mix in other food recipe?
Once you're done straining the peels, you can eat them as candied peels.
Yeah they’re actually really nice
Ok won’t lie your awesome but here’s a real Challenge, try and make Big Red!!!
im going to make only with lemons because i have like five in my fridge. Wish me luck!
How did that turn out to be?
@@saidarahaasayyangalam3445 sadly it didn't work out for me but I recommend just adding peels to the water. Its also good
oleo saccharum sounds like a spell from harry potter
thats nut no cappy
Does all the sugar need to be dissolved or can there be some there?
and what if you steamed the skins would this not yeald more oil?
Wait so you could just replace the limes and melons with oranges?
How many oz is that cup?
Do a vs for MTN dew and sprite

whats that squezy lemon bottle is this not the oils?
Does club soda work as well
How much time do I have to put it in the fridge
Can you do a fanta one?
THANKS YOU GOODNESS 🌟 AMAZING ❤️🖤💚🤎 FAMILY DAPHNE COTTON ALWAYS 💜 AWESOME BEAUTIFUL ✨
Can you give us weight of zest require because where I live we have small lemon and lime .
I usually dont drink sodas...but some random blue moon I GET OBESSED WITH sprite!
Is there a way to make this sprite without sugar? Or could I use Stevia?
Monk fruit extract 50% extract
make-make-make crack like dis (getto dope)
Hi, just a question, could lemon and orange peels be used instead of lemon and lime peels?
It may taste a little different, but it certainly wouldn't be bad!

Instructions not clear enough I got arrested for driving under the influence of benzodiazepines they were not prescribed in my name
Really Is it the same formula sprite making?
does anyone know the background song?
Hey just curious does this work for oranges and mandarins as well since it’s also a citrus fruit?
Yes, but it will taste slightly different (although still pretty tasty!!!)
✨ I love you ✨

Jin-Hyung take notes
So what is a good proportion of water and oleo saccharum for a sprite tasting drink?
I think start with half a tablespoon per glass (250 mL) and taste it. It's going to be dependent on how sweet/intense you want it
@@FlavorLab Thank you! I’ll experiment from there
4 limes & 2 lemons yields only one 8 oz cup?
Imma make a whole tank and gift to j hope..🙂
He may like it
POV watch the whole video just to see him not make the sparkling water
When i put the syrup in the soda it just becomes small clumps

@@FlavorLab No way! out of all the people who could've guessed that it would be the creator who replied!!! thank you so much! I subbed and ima keep watching your videos because you're a very good creator.
You can just boil the lime and lemon peals and add sugar later, you get MUCH more syrup, but than again, that will be a syrup and not an Oil
Wouldn't a syrup dissolve better in the water anyway?
@@JuliaC-sp5qk yes but remember guys: fat is flavour. flavour compounds are fat- soluble, you'll never be able to extract as much flavour in a polar base.
@@jac1011 ah OK that makes sense, thanks.
I'm guessing that's also why you cook the vegetables in oil before boiling when making vegetable broth?
@@jac1011 This is interesting. What do u mean with polar base ?
@@JuliaC-sp5qk I ever heard Gordon Ramsey said, "No colour, no flavour". I guess why we want to roast/pan-fried our veggies with some oil is to caramelize some veggies' surface area hence deepen the flavour
