- It has been decided, I have now become Dani 2.
"Unnamed Game Project" is a Boss Rush type game where you play as "Entity", who is a bounty hunter. You collect bounties throughout your adventures, which lead you to the various bosses in the game. Fighting these bosses and exploring the world will earn you more reputation and money as you work to become the greatest bounty hunter to ever live.

I really love the bounty poster appearing when the bossfight is starting
I have a suggestion for the health.
Instead of doing a "heart" system explicitly, I think it would add depth to approach it more like a Shield/Health style.
Example:
Every enemy has been shown to have different dmg values.
-This first hits armor
-then it hits health
It's fairly easy to heal the armor given the chance, you just have to sit still and use an item or something
Health is much harder to regen though, because you'll have to do something extremely explicit like sleep at an inn or sell your liver to the black market (no this is serious because then you can make your ability to heal hearts finite).
On top of this, armor is a much easier thing to say you can get "more" of, while "health" is something you technically are only born with, as I don't see anyone growing new livers.
-If you add a little more depth to it, you could start off with say, 4 health and 1 armor. After you eventually decide to heal, you can make part of the cost LOSING one of your 4 hearts. This means to heal said hearts, you have to go to 3 or 3.5 hearts.
One request however if you use this, I do think having the armor being called either "honor" (making it a more symbolic armor) or "plot armor" (if you want to just make it a joke) would be neat
This is a very interesting concept, I might adapt some parts from it, not too sure yet, nonetheless a great suggestion, thank you.

You should add a cow boss that uses sprays milk like a dartling gun from its utters
Edit: the hearts could be like the target at a firing range and if you take damage it will be shot

This actually looks really cool! If this type of thing came up on steam for a couple bucks it would be in instant buy. Keep working on it I see a lot of potential here for a really cool passion project!

I recommend adding some other kinds of fighting, like fighting in the sky while bouncing cloud to cloud. That was something that made cuphead fun.

A while back I wanted to make a game concept and I made a set of weapons, but I decided to pass it off as “dead cells fanmade weapons” since a lot of people said they got that vibe, but this video really brought my inspiration back to work on it again!
In terms of feedback for the game, I think for the boss intro with the wanted poster, maybe have it more zoomed out so you can see the full page, as atm it is cut off
It would also be cool to have an upgrade system once you beat a boss and a potential hard mode when you beat them all
One more thing, I think the attacks can maybe have like a flashing light or “!” To better indicate when an attack will initiate. Even if the game is meant to be hard, it’ll be no fun if it’s not fair, so I think that’s help out. Of course, this isn’t really needed for slow attacks since you’ll have ample time to react
Overall, great potential, can’t wait to see where this goes!

Water spout and shower head boss, water spout pours water flooding the level causing the player to have limited platforms whilst the shower head shoots rain across the screen. Imagine a bathtub arena
Level, inside a bar, your small and large to nudism sized beer cups jump and pubs the table trying to squish you. A playing card will sometimes go flying across as you move through trying to hit you. Final boss is a bartender: he serves beers brown smashing and sliding them across the table
Pack Gang will give you optional levels where you can go straight to the boss, smaller things like a high school locker that drops its contents on the player, or maybe a garden gnome that has a gun
Basic enemies: scorpion that shoots acid from its tail and can pinch the player when they get close, small pile of wires that can grab the player causing them to slow down (im imagining a boss where it’s just a pile a wires with a lampshade head), a turtle with a gun for a head, a cactus that spins and shoots its thorns around, an ostrich that runs fast with a bandit in its back jousting,
Levels: Bathtub, bar table, I’m thinking of a level selector place where you go inside different playing cards, some sort of level inside walls, level where you slowly go up a clock, a treadmill (hear me out) you win after a time limit, whole time your under attack, a library where you run across all the books (after a few seconds they can close like a bear trap, they open after a few seconds)

First idea: You should add a flying dead cow head enemy (like the ones in you background) randomly pop out and attack you.
Last idea: Your finale boss should be a gigantic bull that attack’s you by trying to ram the player with its horns and sends out the flying dead cow heads I mentioned earlier. And as the player depletes the health bar on the boss it’s skin starts to slowly come off like the final boss in doom eternal and the second phase is just a gigantic skeletal bull.
That's a great idea for a boss, as for a final boss idk, but as a boss in general it's great, thank you.
I have thought of some game titles.
1: The Distant Past
2: The Weird Wild West
3: Creatures of The West
If you could kill the heads by jumping on them and get propelled up that way, you could make a tall location where jumping on the cow head propel you into space to face The Bull
The way hollowknight got around the background looking empty was by making it a cave and giving screen effects I would add a dust storm area
Also maybe changing the hearts to make them match the theme a little better would be good, something like beer mugs, or tumbleweeds might be fun, and making them a bit smaller and less blue

Maybe you could have a part of the game on a train, which would lead to a boss fight on the train as it's moving, the boss could potentially be something that is similar to the player and can get on the train, or maybe it could be a huge monster that completely destroys everything in it's path, like that one boss fight in castle crashers.
I think it would be kinda funny if you got a freebie boss where they come with you alive then immediately after or during you bringing them to town, they either become a crazy hard boss or a crazy hard boss shows up to either free them or just kill you.
I think it would be cool if you had the later bosses in the game seen earlier in the background for example if you had a giant sand worm boss,before you defeat it you might be able to spot a sand worm in the background
The banjo guy could play music, where you'd have to escape its area of effect, or else you sleep for a couple seconds

Here’s my suggestion. The attack and double jump animation need some work. They both lack anticipation. In hollow knight this is done by having the wings come out and then you are boosted upwards when the wings flap down. I absolutely adore the movement and was disappointed that it barely seems to be apart of the Boss battle. Try finding a way that the movement can be incorporated into the fights better
Alright here me out… you know those tumbleweeds you added… have them appear in all the stages EVEN ONES WHERE THEY DON’T MAKE SENSE TO APPEAR.
Have them appear underwater, on a city, wherever you want. THEN have an NPC say something along the lines of “why are there so many tumbleweeds around?” To add a bit of humour to the game.
As for any SERIOUS ideas… maybe add an alligator boss to reference the original game idea?

The alligator has been suggested a bunch it's almost confirmed by this point, as for the tumbleweed idea, that sounds perfect, I'm upset I didn't think of it myself.
@@MilkManSteve if you're gonna add the alligator boss, maybe jacksonville should also make a comeback? You see, i actaully live in florida, and i can tell you that it is definitly a hellscape that would possibly fit into your chaotic game

Making the super slide more easily useable and increasing the character speed and decreasing the distance a bit would be more balanced
I have a boss idea and here we GO!!
The boss idea is a Big Old Cigar that is the Leader Of The Pack Gang
How to fight it:
Talk to the Cigar NPC and you have 2 percent chance he will say "Can I tell you A little secret" if you say yes "Im the ex gang member of the Pack Gang, I left that gang because of that A hole leader "Giga Cigar" I want you to kill or just beat the crap out of him ok?" And after you say ok you will get the mission to kill/beat the crap out of it.
Giga Cigar attack:
He will breath fire non stop until he cough so you can attack him while he is coughing
Death animation:
His eye will become and he will fall and while he falling his body turn into ashes (like a thanos snap)

The map will be in a abandoned mine that is call The Pack Sack Mine or you named it your self, The plat forming is a quick move one like a falling rock mine and shard rock
This the final this the Mini Enemy. The Mini Enemy is a Smaller Cigar That you need to hit it until it die and if you touch it our you in It,s range the enemy will bend and shot fire from it head and the death animation is The Mini Cigar (I call it mini cigar) will explode into smoke and blind the area for couple of second soo be care ful if you fighting The Mini Cigar.

Maybe each time you beat the game you unlocked new characters? Like got example you go from basic Bounty Hunter in the first play through to a quicker attacking bounty hunter to make a slight reward system for repayabillity as well as making enemies stronger.
Edit: For the fun of it like an undertale like boss only accessible in the game files allowing to implement the Florida Gator as a boss so it isn't entirely scrapped plus just being an inside joke for those who were there In the beginning.

Add a giant ghost flaming pepper that shoots out fire everywhere and plus floating flame minion

dude watch Rango if you haven’t it’s great for western theme inspiration! maybe a snake with a gatling gun for a rattler or something like from the movie
To make it better is to make more animation and music.
Make it so that the background music of 12 s bissfoght is actually him playing him self!

Love the artstyle maybe you could add a fox boss I know that sounds stupid but my idea is the fox is wanted for stealing and when you fight him he'll steal all your abilities and weapons he be very hard to Hit and could have clones of himself attack you the ability you could get for beating him could be some sort of upgrade to your dash

You should change the hearts, they look out of place. Maybe turn them into bullets or something. Like hollow knight did masks for example.

I'm a game developer myself, and I think that your idea for a boss rush bounty hunting game sounds actually really cool! And I'd say that starting with ambitious ideas can be risky, but this idea seems pretty executable if you break it down into simple pieces.
One suggestion is making it open world perhaps, or make it so that another aspect of the game is finding the bounties and tracking them down.
Also, I don't know about you, but Boss Rush Bounty kinda' rolls off the tongue for a title... just saying.

The hud’s cool but maybe stylize the hearts a little more to fit the theme? They’re on a sign so you could make it so they’re more made out of wood and as you’re hurt they start chipping off instead. The sign itself could also start to get damaged a bit each time you’re hit.

I was also kind of thinking about this, and maybe each time you take a hit, you can see how much damage you got in coins. I think it'd be funny to see that every time you hit a boss or an enemy hits you, a piece of their own bounty gets chipped away until there's nothing left. It might be a little too ambitious but I think it'd be a neat detail.

Maybe there could be an occasional vulture in the sky, the game looks good especially that bossfight intro sequence. Also I'd love to see more of these because this makes me wanna work on my own game I've been planning, even though I keep thinking I have limited experience which clearly shouldn't be a problem

There should be a vulture boss where it summons a bunch of different birds to dive bomb you and you can jump on those minion birds to reach the vulture and hit it.
I love the idea for the game and here’s a couple of ideas: the blue hearts are a bit to similar to the backgrounds colour, make him do a flip when he double jumps, your attacks would feels as if they have more affect if they had a visual indication against 12 string such as him turning lighter for a second like when you attack in cuphead, the ground should have small details underground in sections that it is taking up over a 1/4 of the screen such as bones or broken down vehicles, in atleast one boss fight it would be cool for the sky to turn red if he is a devil theme or if there is a cloud a storm comes in. I’m no game designer but if any of those ideas would work I think they would be cool to have in the game

A thing to do is adding power ups that you get after defeating each boss or the money you get from defeating each boss can be used to buy them some being an upgrade to sword making you have the ability to deflect bullets when the attack comes in contact with it and it would remove the pary option, longer dash, the dash would be able to do damage to enemies it goes through, and a grapling gun because why not. The better the power up is the more it would cost the harder the boss is the more money you get from beating it. Finally, there could be a system where beating the boss on the first try would give a bonus in cash and this bonus would decrease the more loses.

Or the game lobby could be main characters motel room, where you could spend all the bounty money on glitching your character with booze and spawning escorts like an actual bounty hunter xd
Abilities and perks at the other hand could be a tree, parts of which you unlock with experience

Also you should add an alligator boss and make it's attacks mostly melee but also give the player the ability to stun it's attacks by picking up a branch off the ground and throwing it at it's mouth BUT it can still attack using it's tail after 3 seconds of the stun to add a risk and reward factor

Idea:
There is a random event that rolls every 200 steps and has a 1/300 chance if happening.
This event is high noon where bosses deal 2x damage, you deal 2x damage and the spawns in each platforming area also doubles
Also I think there should be an a giant skeleton snake boss that has a second phase where it turns into a fossil fuel snake. Call him Slick.

The hearts should be red, it's really offputting.
And i have a fun (I think) boss idea. So you know the mechanic cows in these rodeo games? Make a ranch with mech cows that try to ram you, where the boss would be just a giant cow mech with laser eyes, cannons, rockets, all that juicy stuff. It can also have 2 phases, one where it just moves on the ground, and in the second one it can shoot you both into space and there is a cool free fall segment similiar to upside-down space invaders with robo-cows.
It can be called... The Uddernator

I have two suggestions:
Add different classes. Like maybe melee or ranger. (Definitely not inspired from Terraria.) For melee, you could have the character that you have currently made. Ranger could be guns or bows, but that might be a little boring.
-One boss idea I have could be a boss with punching gloves, maybe like Ribby and Croak from cuphead.

random suggestion: for the boss attack with the X that shows you where the bullets will fire, maybe make the X flash a couple times really quickly right before the bullets fire so the player is ready for it
I thought about this alot, definitely wanna work on making the boss better in the next devlog. This is a great way to fix it though, thanks.
Here is an idea for a boss: Similar to Cuphead, you would fight a train, with you fighting the different cars. Mabye you get to a dining cart and you fight the waitress inside as she throws bottles of beer or milk at you. Mabye another car could be an animal container where you fight the animals inside the container. Then of course, you would fight the train itself.

Ok I watched the video so time for feedback. I feel like it might be better to make the game just a boss rush and include the platforming elements in the boss fights. I think the protagonist's design is to thin and is the sword meant to be his face when he's not using it? I also think the cape looks goofy unless that's the point. I know you said the banjo boss is not even remotely close to completion but I think you should make the strings the arms like you said yourself Steve. I think the beer glass ui is very unique, cool, and it works. I could say more but eh, things are gonna change next devlog and I'm sure Steve already knows lots of things need to be added, changed, and improved so there's no need for me to nick pick.
I watched Dani when he wasn't popular as now. He was making simple game and good commentary (now he ascended to a meme guy). Idk maybe someday you will be like Dani lol
ive been getting alot better in blender. its time to learn coding just like last year.. by myself too cuz no tutorials have my idea.. its fun tho.. just typing shit hoping it works..

The final boss should be an enemy spawning giant robot, not unlike plants vs zombies
You could add a horse that just does a binding of isaac like stomps on you, but if you move away you can dodge them
Idea: Bull Demon, looks like a cow skull attached to a cow skeleton body. It’s mad that it didn’t get to die and get made into ground beef it just died from snake venom so it’s meat is useless, so it’s kinda just causing havoc
First phase: jumps around and drops fire onto the ground that splits into a shockwave, he then fires a string of 4 to 5 bullets in a row. It would start with simple attacks like these until it reaches half health
At half health the body would crumble and the head would remain while having a purple fire aura surround itself. Four fireballs would surround and circle it and shoot at you one at a time and split into plus sign or multiplication sign shaped projectiles. Whenever it does this it will then shoot itself incredibly fast into you and you need to parry the head to stun it and allow you to deal damage. Throw in a few more smaller bullet patters for good measure (possessed farm life or stuff like vulture skeletons dropping bones from the sky?)
I dunno this was an idea I thought would be interesting for the cowboy theme

maybe wind blows and you only see the bounty for a brief moment as it passes by the camera

You should add a boss that’s a cuttlefish with a pirate hat. His name can be captain cuttlefish.

You can do big over worl where you get bounties and go to diffrent party of world which will look different an do some npcs which will talk about your bounty what he did or why you have bounty how he affected the world around him.
Definitely think this is the plan for the game.

For the background it would be cool if you added a few abandoned houses with wanted signs of the boss you are going to fight in the area

Your progress just made my day. It's really cool. I'd love to see the final result of this game. And I have a suggestion too, maybe you should just brighten up the color palette for backgrounds, not for much but If you want to make a game more alive, you should use light and live colors. It will definitely change the atmosphere of overall game. Another suggestion, maybe you can make a puzzle-like boss to defeat. Our bounty hunter must solve some tasks around the level and maybe fight with the other little enemies. I don't know. Anyways, looking forward to this project!

Shit this looks really cool! If I where to suggest something while the game is still in an early state. Make it similar to destiny 2’s forsaken baron hunts. So basically make a semi-open world map and have different NPC’s and clues hidden around that will eventually lead you towards where your bounty is hiding.
If you don’t exactly know what I mean, look up a let’s play of destiny 2 forsaken. Trust me it’s cool
That's the sorta thing I was wanting, I wanted them all to have sort of set locations but you can either get info from around about where they are or just explore freely and randomly find them in the wild.

@@MilkManSteve In that case a bounty board win title screen would be of use. As I sign of progression, each time you open the game you'd see a board with bounties of all the bosses nailed to it, with a drawing if you saw it and an X if you slayed it. Make it little animated (papers waving), add some chill climatic tune that suddenly explodes into this epic western whistling thingy and you've got yourself a beautiful title screen people will stop at to get into the game mood
