A fine job of turning that maximized the best traits of the wood. I appreciate your thoughts as you shaped the piece (as well as seeing the outside shape develop with the side view). You always please your audience.
🙋♂️🏴 Hi Phil a variation on your usual pieces rather modern looking, I like it, the chatoyance showed up fantastic. And it's suitable for keeping any small sweet treats in. 👍👍
Always nice to see you turn a traditional bowl Phil. Don’t sell yourself cheap, this bowl has a wonderful design, nature helped and so did the original person who cut this timber. There wasn’t a whole lot you could do with the shape, but I really like slightly undercut bowls and as you suggested, makes a great nut bowl or jelly bean bowl. The chatoyance is beautiful, nature at its finest.
I really enjoy your videos and amazing craftsmanship. It was great to see you create a so called “normal” turning. Even with a normal design you created a beautiful bowl. Love it. You are inspirational to me.
The ridges look like they were caused by compression. I love working with maple as long it is not to soft or too hard...Goldilocks maple! Good looking bowl.
That wide rim frames the inside, very nicely. It's intriguing. It invites looking and wondering--a portal to another place. Well done, sir. Like the center of an eye. Or a lens.
@@PhilAndersonShadyAcresWoodshop It's like the eye of an an ancient carved marble statue. Or a dragon's eye. The negative space created became its own shaped form. Also -- Really cool that there was so much chatoyance for 3D depth inside. In fact, I can't recall having ever appreciated negative-space chatoyance like this before. You've created a very special piece here.
As I often say, it is good to step out of your 'comfort zone' from time to time in whatever you are doing. When my hands used to let me produce my sculptures I would step away from wood as my medium & work in metal, plastics or clay just to make me 'think more' & create in a different way as the medium dictated. This is a beautiful piece Phil with so much beautiful chatoyance throughout, a piece you should be proud of. Cheers, Don from South Aust.
I love absolutely everything you’ve done with this bowl. The bottom is a very nice added feature. Only thing I have to change is it will be a Smarties bowl since I’m from Canada. What a reward for being brave and working out of your comfort zone. Well done sir. 😊
The shape, the colour and the chatoyance all remind me of things I saw growing up in the 1970s. Happy times. And it’s good to go outside your comfort zone now and again.
A very beautiful candy bowl , the beaded bottom looks great, and the shape is modern, and the chatoyence is amazing . I would go for a bag of mixed fruit sour balls
Hi Phil nice Bowl I like the shape. I look forward to your wood turning videos every week, sorry I forget to give you a thumbs up, every time I watch your videos I just don't think about it. I like how your honest about what you're turning especially the comedic comments. I 've been watching your videos for a little over six years now. Keep up the good work
Thank you, Henry! I always click the thumbs up button before I start watching one of my regular channels. I consider it the price of admission! LOL! I'm just glad you watch and enjoy my videos, thanks, Henry! 😀
Very nice. For me, fill it with black licorice jelly beans. Well, with all my grandkids it would have to be multiple colors and flavors. Beautiful piece.
Phil , this bowl is just goreous ! And I love the shape . It's interesring to look at . Of course the chatoyance is just incredable . I would have give this a +++++++++ ! Thanks for sharing this video and we hope you have a great weekend .
@PhilAndersonShadyAcresWoodshop We are happy to let you know that because of your S16 demo , we ordered 2 of them this morning . Now if we don't like them we can blame you . 😂😂😂 Just kidding . 😀Have a great weekend .
Phil beautiful piece of wood and of course you made it beautifuler!!!!!! I like to try different woods and shapes. Good to see you doing the same. Still love ALL your natural edge bowls the best.. Love the shape and beads. Another awsome video. Thanks Terry
Glad you "listened" to me and went with that beautiful shape!😅 Love the decoration as well. The chatoyance shows up on my smart phone just super. Actually, it looked glowing that way before you started turning the wood. Gorgeous as always. (Get jelly bellys , they're the best jelly beans.)😊
Hey Phil.... I love the bowl! You really brought out the natural beauty of the wood. I think the shape is simple but perfect for the piece. It reminds me of the Shaker style, but more elegant than traditional Shaker work. The only thing I would change would be a simpler bottom. Thanks for the video!
It has a nice modernist feel to it. Chatoyance ! !
😊
What a beautiful piece. Beauty brought out by the master at the lathe.
Thank you, Harvey!😊
What ever you use it for it’s a beautiful piece, I’m loving the shape and the wood is a dream.😊
Thank you, Bev! 😀
Yep, I'd have to go with the M&Ms also. It is a beautiful bowl, I think the rim shows off the chatoyance of this wonderful piece of wood.
Great, thank you, Jean! 😊
Mr. Anderson I like the bottom, shape and and bowl beautiful.
Thank you, Larry! 😀
I really like the shape and beauty of the grain on this piece. Awesome idea on this one.
Cool, thank you, Dale! 😀
Perfect bowl for jelly beans, or M&Ms, or Skittles, or any other similar hand-scoopable candy
😀

Thanks for watching! 😀
Beautiful! That figured wood is splendid. I like the top shape and agree that it was a good decision to keep it. Thanks for sharing Phil!!
I'm glad you liked the piece, appreciate it! 😀
Pretty nice shake, I love the wide, undercut rim. It looks really good. The wood in itself is gorgeous.
Glad you like it, Bruno, thanks! 😀

I love your design for this bowl, so fresh and sleek. Beautiful piece.
Thanks for the kind words, I appreciate it! 😀
The ridges look like they were caused by compression. I love working with maple as long it is not to soft or too hard...Goldilocks maple! Good looking bowl.
It's that "just right" wood that makes all the difference. 😀
I love it. I'm sure glad you didn't remove part of the top. So so on the bottom beads. That piece has figure in and out and all around.
Thank you, Bill! 😀
Loving the shape and lines on the bottom ❤
😀
Bowl is fabulous and is just the right size for candy and just in time for Christmas. Love the decoration on the bottom. 🎄🍫🍬
Thanks, Anthony! 😀
It's a nail biter sometimes when you get it so thin! The design you're not used to really brings out the beauty of the grain, beautiful!
Thank you, Carolyn! 😀
One man’s jellybean bowl is another man’s M&M bowl. I am hungry now. Very nice bowl Phill. Have great weekend. Dan
Thanks, Dan! Hope you have a great weekend, too! 😀
And one man’s MnM bowl is another man’s peanut MnM bowl. Lol
What a lovely bowl. Quite different to what we have become used to from you. But you always let the wood speak for itself. I love the shape
Thank you, Philomena! 😀

Wow!! Is that quilted maple? So GORGEOUS! 🤩
People have different names for it depending on their region, Jennifer. I'm glad you like it, thank you! 😀

It was a little different, thanks for noticing! 😀
Great shape, Phil. Tremendous finish, too.
