@@slythrwhat exactly is PU surgery. I recently had to have my cat unblocked via a catheter, first time ever and somewhat of a surprise. Been about a week and I'm worried about what to expect moving forward. Do you happen to know if it takes a while for the system to fully clear? For instance he's on science diet urinary CD now, does it take a while to dissolve the crystals that are still in there. I wondered because he seemed a little off this morning, and I called the vet and they didn't seem too concerned. But I'm paranoid now. 🥴

    3 options.
    1) $2300 on our credit card, bc we don't have that money.
    2) give him up. They will fix him and then give him away to another family.

It’s genuinely ghoulish that they offer to put them down because of insufficient money. I know medical treatment is never free but this is all-in-all a minor problem in the hands of someone trained. It’s extortion to tell someone who’s worried about their fur baby “well if you don’t want to pay, we can always just put them down.”

Thank you so much for sharing this. Your video saved our cat's life today. His name is Blue and he is a very sweet and dear member of our family. My youngest son was diagnosed with cancer at a young age and he struggled at school but when we got him blue the cat, he got really attached and his health improved including his joy and happiness. Sadly tonight blue did almost die and we didn't know what was happening we rushed to the Animal hospital and I saw your video before we got there. I knew I felt the swelling and that he didn't urinate or had bowl movements. When we got to the hospital and shared your diagnosis was that spot on. The vet told us that if we didn't come in tonight that Blue wouldn't have survived the night. He was rushed in for surgery and will cost us $2500. But he will make this through. Thank you so much❤

Really appreciate the clarity around this issue! We've got one with urinary problems- hasn't yet had a blockage, but we knew it could be serious so any time he had any related symptoms, we'd rush to the vet (almost always the ER, because no cat has their issues during business hours...), spend a thousand dollars or more so they could tell us he "probably has a UTI but isn't blocked". We've changed his diet, added litter boxes, bought new fountains for water... I don't want to mess around with his health, and we'll fork over the money in a heartbeat, but it's so helpful to know more specifically what we need to look for so we can save the ER trips for real emergencies. Thank you!

They gave him antibiotics and it seemed to helped… but less than 36 hours later, he’s currently at the veterinary hospital urinating though a catheter.
According to tests, it didn’t affect his kidneys. The vet’s office is being quite greedy though. I had to pay them $1000 up front (I paid partially with cash and as much as I could with my only credit card) but, they’re asking for an additional $500 they want paid over the phone before we pick him up tomorrow 😤

Or is this normal since he might have inflammation still of his urether?

Thankfully my cat was able to pass urine after. It did help also that i was able to recognize the signs of difficulty sooner. Him howling while at his litter box. Also i am not using cat sand anymore, what i do is i have cat litter container a couple of them and he piss then i clean them up right away. This works for me somehow. @Clarkssman you’ve heard one symptom and concluded it should be put down, which is absolutely crazy. Cranberry juice won’t help, apple cider vinegar has been known to help but only in one type of crystal issue and not the other. Water and wet food is really the only bet, no dry food at all, and time to see if he pees more or not at all. At that point you check for outreach center vets and services at reduced rates, or you out the cat down if a vet says that’s the option that is best and cheapest. But don’t start with that.

Emergency UTI block cure: acv or distilled vinegar mix with water about a tablespoon vinegar 2 tablespoons water, rub this into the skin over the shoulder area. Will save the cat. Grain free canned food alittle extra warm water at first. It's the glysophates gotta avoid grains current practice plumping grains by spraying before harvest so no grains in treats either none. God Bless 🙏 saving cats please try this I've seen it work and got the info from a cat rescue. 🐈

And for people that can't afford it... I can't afford the large amount to have them euthanized the animal just suffers.... Or they have to be taken out of her misery at the hands of their owner.... It's disgusting what veterinarians charge

Disgusting. This is my issue right now. I've been thinking of putting him down but I don't want to, but I also don't want to be going to the emergency every 2 months or every 2 weeks either.

I really hope you get this in time! ALL you have to do is feed your cat wet food from now on. Stop the dry unless it's UTI but mostly give wet food. Cats were not made to eat dry food. I do give my cats some IAMS UTI dry food or hills science diet UTI as a treat. I found this out the hard way. Lots of blocked kitties and one had the surgery which is absolutely horrible. Don't do it. Feed your cats wet food!!

It blows me away that this person is in an enclosed room and she wants to leave a mask on when she's giving information out to the public
You must take your mask off as soon as you're done talking to the camera you can put your pacifier back on I mean your mask

Nice video, but what bothers me is that stupid face mask that serves no purpose.

Face masks have a long and well researched history of helping reduce transmission of airborne viruses. Hers is certainly a low grade one but it fits well. If you hate science I would avoid videos with doctors in them.
