Hay guys. " never belive any one who done the job before you" best bit of knowledge you can give people new to the trade, no matter how good they are check for yourself.
It's hard enough building these cars and chasing your own tail. It's a whole other can of worms trying to run down the issues that someone else created before you! If you start from scratch you don't have to worry about those problems!
Appreciate that Billy, we try to show everyone the reality of building custom vehicles. A lot of channels like to show the beginning and the finished product.
The truck bed looks great, running the tig with your knee…👍, heck yea! Those axles looked like they had a lot of spline length probably a stock cut to size axle, definitely needed the axle bearing flush to the flange, nice job on that too!
It just woulda been nice if they said "hey these need to be cut down" when they dropped the axles off with the truck! lol Thanks for all the support! Hope you like the content!
It's good to see the owner perfectly capable, willing, and skilled enough to get in there and do the work. I hated working for guys that weren't willing to do the same work they're asking you to do. Just another reason I am such a fan.
ive never been that guy! my back round is construction, from helper to running huge projects with 200 + grown men working under me at the age of 30 and I had to prove I was capable to gain respect.
As a veteran myself, this cements my opinion you guys are the coolest shop and people. So much respect for this video and group of professionals. Cheers and thanks for another awesome S2S Wed video.
Great job guys, we can sense the frustration in dealing with some of the unnecessary issues but you stuck with it. 22 per day is a shocking figure lets hope this helps.
That’s gonna be a sick build. I’d love to do a full chassis on my 85. I love about 6 miles from the Roadster Shop here in Illinois. Just sent them my resume. Can’t wait to see this thing rollin.
With the amount of "adjustments" you had to do to make those 4 link brackets work, might it of been easier to build new brackets ? This is the first I've ever questioned anything you guys have done. You lads build things at such a high level of quality.
It took me 45 mins to grind the housing. The chassis company had sent out several brackets before I even got involved and I wasn’t about to redesign a new one, which would also mean I’d have to redo the link bars. This was something that had to be done quickly, on a Saturday afternoon
@@SalvagetoSavage That makes sense. Time was a factor. And sometimes you have no other option but to work with what you got. Luckily, for the customer, you have that talent. Have a good night Mikey.
Dude that bed floor came out sick. Im used to seeing them with a harsh incline and decline. The way it flows is dope. I miss Cha Ching… lol seeing that sign in the background all the time. U guys should make another one and name it “Keep The Change” penny color patina’d up. Its all the the vision my dudes!
Brother mike, This is one of the cleanest bed jobs I've ever seen. @ 20:25 you get a good look at the bed arch next to the wheel tub trailing off to a tidy slope, it's as though it were a factory intended modification. Looking this good in its raw form, I can only imagine how appealing the truck bed will be with a bed liner. Awesome job brother, its not one of the weekly S to S video's that's I was expecting but certainly this one did not disappoint. When it comes to worthy causes this one is up there. What a great opportunity to help out where you can while showcasing the awesome work that you and your shop team can do. Kudos and props to team
Thanks so much! We really appreciate the compliment. We're really excited to be a part of this project and everything that it represents. When we get to build trucks and help out those in need (especially when those in need have put their lives on the line to help us) it makes it so much more enjoyable!
A couple reasons 1st off if I did it would also mean I’d have to cut the link bars down 2nd I was at the shop by myself, I don’t really know how to design and cut on the plasma table 😛
I don't do much suspension fab in my garage, but that seems like a poorly-designed 4-link bracket. Why did the manufacturer put the link mounting ears so close to where the housing?? You shouldn't have to hack that much out of the housing (and touch the heim ends) to make it fit.
Could be similar issues we were having with other 4 links, where everything is technically made properly, but in mixing and machine different parts and pieces, not everything goes together 100% perfectly. It's ok though. We made it work!
@@SalvagetoSavage In what way is it cinematic? That would be like showing the trailer right before the same movie, makes no sense. I do FF and it bugs me too have to do it every time a channel i follow does it and builds up the hate i feel.
@@tetepeb brother HATE is a serious feeling to have over such a small thing. This world has way more important things to get worked up over. if you ever need a friend or a huge I got you brother
Great job guys! It's not always easy when a project comes in with missing pieces? Or wrong length axles, it's all there but it takes way more time to sort it out,! You showed patience and follow through! Much respect! It looks right, as long as the wheels are the right offset? Because you shortened the axles, were the wheel offsets measured for a longer/wider rear housing? Sinking the wheels to far under the truck? Time will tell! Hope it's all good for you. 👍🏻✌🏻🧡🤘😎👀🤏🤞🌤🇨🇦🤔.
The axles needed to be shortened regardless because of how they needed to sit in the axle housings. Worst Case scenario is that some spacers will be needed to get proper fitment on the wheels if the wheel offset isn't dramatic enough. Not too big of a deal!
i wish amd or brothers would make a stepped bed floor for all the c10s. that'd be so convenient
The issue is that notch angles and depths vary so much, it would be hard to make something that fits universally
Love the wireless foot pedal. It's always surprising what you can find to push it....knee...elbow....head....kid....whatever it takes.
I was using my butt for a while also, until I burnt my knee on a weld 😝
All for a good cause. Thank you for lending your experience and passion . I knowit will get a good reception on the concourse.
We're hoping it can pull a pretty penny too for all those in need!
A major win for the cause. Can’t wait to see how high the donation amount will be for Mission 22! With this amazing fab work, it’s bound to be big!

The work with your knee on that pedal gave me sympathy pains! Very impressive.

Out of curiosity, why did you decide to grind the axle housing instead of just cutting out new mounting plates for the clearance?

Gets a custom chassis so it can ride super low but leaves the rear wheel wells in the stock height location 🤦♂️
Well that “custom chassis “ is for air ride, and as you see it has coils so it’s not going to sit “super low” but all gravy brother.
