I too love RAM Mounts. I live in the greater Seattle area and use several of their other products on my motorcycle and other vehicles. I love to find really great local products, and I've had nothing but great experiences with the products and company.👍
haha, puts this up less than a week after getting two YakAttack Omega Pro holders. I was happy to purchase from a company who makes their items here in the USA. I would have been even better to support a PNW company, RAM. I'll have to keep an eye out for some of their accessories next time. I definitely have learned so much from your channel. Thank you! I hope to take my new 120 sportsman out for landlocked Coho on a local lake. Good stuff and I'm happy to see all this new, excellent content that you're putting out.
Check out the Folbe rod holders. I like them way better than the type you use. Ram, fish-on, cabala's etc. require you to clear the butt of the rod by raising the rod tip at an extreme angle to get the rod out of the holder. With the Folbe rod holders a quick lift releases the rod from the holder and keeps the rod parallel to the water at the same time. I really enjoy your videos. Keep up the good work.
I've seen Folbes fail twice in my life both times when Kings or Steelhead grabbed them and the rod was gone along with the fish. I agree they work great when they work but I don't trust them. Additionally they don't make any dedicated gear track bases so I'd be stuck using full bases with might mounts that would cost me more money and eat up more of my gear track.
Hello. Kayak fishing newbie here. I watch your videos quite a lot, and it inspired to buy my own kayak (Hobie 2021 Outback). I took it out on its first maiden voyage on Memorial day. One thing I found challenging though was launching the boat with all the gear I had. I currently have the recommended ram setup, as well as a flexible transducer mount, and a fish finder mount. I was having a heck of a time launching the boat, because I had to use my oars to get out to deep enough water before I could pop in the mirage pedal drive system, but my oars kept thwacking all of my various holders. I extended them out as far away from me as possible on the rails but still had interference. Question: when using pedal-type kayaks, do you launch the boat without all the various rod/camera holders, and then only set them up after you've reached a spot where you're deep enough that you don't have to use oars anymore? Or do you launch with all the rod/camera holders already fully setup?
Definitely swapping to this set up. I had trouble with the rod holder loosening at the base when I trolled for springers...did you get the 13.5” extension arms or the 16” extension arms?
Mine came today on your recommendation. Your videos are super helpful. I already got a Yak Attack Omega Pro but plan to use both. This one mainly for bigger fish
I have a hobie 14’ with H rails. Can you provide the names/part numbers for your set up? Love them. I don’t find the coupon links. Keep up the great work/videos. Thanks.
Hi Tyler, I just purchased two of these set-ups for my MK136. Your promo code was very helpful and cut the shipping in half for me. Just so you know I checked on the promo code with RAM and it has been updated to (Hicks21) Thank you,
Just purchased this and getting to setup now. Not sure if something has changed but there is no way to secure/lock the portion that goes into the base. Everything is solid/one-piece and there is a little notch and groove that meet up so it can only go in one way. We will see how this works out long term but not super secure with this design as it will just lift right out - I do not see any way to twist it in like you show in the video. Edit - ok I see what needs to be done. You do spin it like Tyler shows in the video before the teeth on top line up. The notched portion prevents it from totally falling out but the base will move up and down the height of the gear/teeth portion of the base - it will not "lock" into place so don't expect that secure of an attachment.
@@spiltmilt Thanks, I appreciate the reply. I will probably still get them. I really like how they are out of the way of the pedals. I am worried something that sits lower will interfere when the spinning rod butts stick out the bottom. Thanks again. 😊
Have you used or tried the RAM ROD® Fishing Rod Holder, and do you know if they would work for Kings as well? I'm torn between those and the RAM ROD® HD. I don't need the goPro mount and all that jazz so if I can go cheaper I will. But, you haven't led me astray yet (wilderness systems cart, Salty PDL)! Thanks as always!
Just ordered a set but noticed that the extender arm detaches from the base very easily if I lift it. Is that a defect or is there another way to secure it?

Just got mine in the mail today. Thanks for all the info and the discount code!

@@spiltmilt that would be a heart breaking very sad day!
I’m ordering another one of these. I want to get the fish finder mount too. Is it an attachment that uses the same base?
I use a RAM Track Ball mount for my fishfinder. What fishfinder do you have?
Spilt Milt Productions Lowrance Hook2- tripleshot 5”
Thanks Tyler for the promo code - Just used to get a set of these. Thanks!

I always launch with everything in place.
Nice,
I'm not too far from them, I'll check them out.
I'm trying to rig up my sportsman 120 pdl. Where are you fishing?

Just bought a Yakattack extended holder. Gonna give it a go and see how I like it. Might need to swap to this set up

That Ram pole holder has more moves than a Club 205 Dancer.
00:20 Brewster Pool!!!!
looks like a pretty good rod holder. I use scotty rod holders and they are super nice also
Another good video Tyler
Do they work with spinning rods?
Yes
Have you tried the ram light speed yet? Was thinking about checking those out.
Hey man, do you have a new discount code for Ram mount?

Nothing has changed and I've never had any issue with a rod holder pulling out. The upper head portion does lock.
Why do you face your rods that way? I am guessing for ease of access; but I feel like its harder to see if you have a bite that way. Thanks!
I do it so my viewers can see the bites on camera
@@spiltmilt Awwww, thanks! Appreciate it!
Can you use these with a flyrod? Couldn't find any info on flyrod use. Thanks
They aren't designed for fly rods but they do an okay job if you use the locking ring.

Discount code still works. Just ordered a pair!
Will these Ram extensions fit into a Scotty mount base?
No

Yes I have and I don't recommend them. They don't secure the rod well enough and certainly not for a King. The HD will last you a lifetime.
@@spiltmilt much appreciated as always! Saving me from multiple purchases and frustration haha

When installing rotate in the base so it can't pop out
Please send me the links for the extension arm
Its in the description
Mine came yesterday.
Supported🙌
thank you for saving me $23.19 I appreciate that and the info!
I’ll stick with my lifetime rod holders lol
good for you wait for it..... .. . lol
