- using a vacuum seal bag from Amazon to pack a king size purple mattress.
here is the bag I used:

It was kind of hilarious watching your sped up stomping on the mattress! Lol thanks for the interesting vid 👍
Ahhh thank you! About to move cross country with my purple and I didn’t think to look into a vacuum seal bag. Totally saved me a bunch of stress haha
It was super helpful for when we moved. This thing is a beast!
holy crap this is awesome. i found this video a minute ago and the bag is already ordered and will be here in a couple hours apparently.
LIFE SAVER! Uhaul has been a nightmare.
Tips: Dont move at the end of the month or season!
I am so grateful for this video
Confirmed bought my mattress in Jan 2022 moved in Nov 2022. The zipbag in this video works excellently made a smaller footprint and shrunk down maybe just under half it's height. Used it on my king hybrid lvl 2. Foam and springs. Buddy and I rolled it into 3rds. Highly recommend getting some straps from Menards. The buckles on the included strapped busy to pieces cincing down. Safer than sorry especially if you are mid ride.
Thanks so much for posting! I'm keeping mine in storage and didn't know what to do.
I have never thought to stomp on the air mattress while compressing. Smart idea.
I always squeezed the air out against vacuum cleaner (cause it already sucks air) a lot of times to speed up the process specially really big air mattresses.
awesome
Can you use a regular vacuum? Or you need a specific kind?
Where did you get the bag. I'm gonna need one
Thanks for sharing this, Could you please share the link to the sealed bag you used? Were you able to roll up the mattress afterwards? How did the move go?
I added a link to the bag in the video description. I was able to roll it up all by myself. The bag came with two nylon straps to help keep it together.
I can't find the link either even though he said he shared.
Thank you! This is literally exactly what I was looking for since our family is about to move overseas, and we really would like to ship our Purple mattresses, if at all possible. Once you vacuum packed it, were you able to fold the bagged mattress in half? Or was it pretty firm?
So this is the original Purple mattress. The one without the box springs. With that being said, I was able to roll it like a sleeping bag and used straps to hold it together. It worked well for us. It was shoved into a corner of a shipping container and didn't break it's seal. I wish you the best of luck with your move!
@@liketheyogurt 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼Awesome! We also have the original purple mattresses, so this is SO helpful! Seriously, thanks so much for posting and your response!
Same!!!!!
Are you military by chance? I was thinking about using this system for PCSing
How long was the mattress like that and was it damaged at all from having it vacuum sealed for long?
We had it in storage like that for 2 months and there are no signs that it hurt the mattress.
Can you share the link for the mattress cover you used? I need to do mine ASAP 😬😢
I have a link in the description
Did you encounter any negative effects from vacuum sealing? Also, is this the original purple grid king or one of their foam/grid hybrids?
Great question. This was done 2 years ago and we haven't experienced any negative side affects from the vacuum sealing. We have the original Purple mattress and not one of the new hybrids.
Were did you buy the bag to put the bed in
I bought it on Amazon. I'll see if I can add a link to it in the description of the video.
Will a regular vac work or does it have to be a shop-vac?
That's a good question. I'm sure you could. It might take longer.
Awesome! I have a Tesla and really wanted to do some cross country sight seeing and thought a purple twin mattress would be perfect for the back, but I wasn’t sure how I would store it, now I think I have that problem solved. I wonder if repetition of this would harm the mattress over time?
No one is stepping on my bed.
I have a queen size Purple 2 hybrid( coils).
This method works, but you’ll need to fold/roll and lay on the mattress because the coils will resist the vacuum.
Not sure how this will affect the coils when I unwrap it later on. Goodluck people.
Any update on the mattress after unpacking
Just squeeze the air out against vacuum cleaner to speed up the process
@@tylerjones3663 Nope, crossing my fingers.
@@cancelboi8937 Was everything alright in the end? How are you even moving this thing anyway, if you don’t mind me asking? Aren’t they like 120lbs+?? I’m still a bit of a young buck but even for me that sounds a bit discouraging, like it’s going to be incredibly hard to carry and move or even just get up into my bedroom to begin with if I buy one (which I desperately want to but have been too nervous to pull the trigger on).
I’ve been sleeping on an old shitty, uncomfortable, sunken-in bed for as long as I can remember-it was actually my parents’ bed when I was a little kid-and I really want to finally have a nice mattress of my own to sleep on but I’m only in my 20s so it’s no small expense for me to get and I’ve never done this sort of thing before so I REALLY want to be sure I’m not going to regret it :/
@@tylerjones3663 I just unpacked a couple of weeks ago. I haven’t noticed any differences, so I’d say this is a safe method for long-term storage.
Where did you find your mattress vacuum seal bag thingy?
I found it on Amazon. It wasn't too expensive. I'll try to put a link to it in the video notes.
A link was added to the description
Does your purple mattress have the coiled springs in them? I am thinking of using your method for my purple mattress
No, I have to original purple mattress so it is the memory foam base with the purple material on top.
@@liketheyogurt well great. What are supposed to do if we have the coils? Do one with a coil so others can know how to move it.
@@Jh-xs1og you’re joking, right?
@@Bolero6879 Yeah I’m sure he was joking lol. That sounds exactly like the type of comments I make when I realize I might be shit out of luck with something lmfao
RUclipsr: “How to survive drowning:
…Carefully swim to the edge of the pool and get out. Thank you all for watching. God bless.”
Me: “Does this work if you’re trapped out in the middle of the Pacific Ocean?”
YTer: “Idk I’ve only got my pool here in Kansas.”
Me to myself: oh fuck, god damn it
*Anxiously typing*
“Could you make another video in the middle of the Pacific Ocean?”
How did you get it in the plastic?
I was able to do it all by myself. I just laid the mattress down and slid it over the mattress. You just have to make sure the vacuum piece is on top.
What kind of machine was that
It was a rigid vacuum, like a shop vac. It was the largest vacuum I had.
Where can I find this
I have a non-affiliated link in the comments for the one I used.
Was it purple 4 or 3 ?
The one in the video is one of the original purple mattresses. It doesn't have the springs. What I did t share in the video is me rolling up the mattress. I don't think that's possible with the 2, 3, or 4.
@@liketheyogurt thanks for the info
@@liketheyogurt Dang I have the purple king 2! Why won't the vacuum seal effect work on the 2 and newer?
I can’t believe you didn’t include how to roll it or fold it
I know. To be honest, I wasn't sure I could get it in by myself. It took me a couple of tries to get it where I wanted it to be.
This method is good ONLY for the regular purple mattress which has no coils
@@butterpecan5642 that is correct. This is only for the original purple mattress.
@@butterpecan5642 I don’t see why this wouldn’t work when they delivered my hybrid 3 it was vacuum sealed and rolled into the purple bag
@@shelbyclark-herkelrath5115 did you end up trying it with your mattress? Does it work with 3 or 4?
I won’t ever buy this mattress again, over rated
Your mama 🤏🐓
I love mine
