I wouldn't advise using a torch for this as it could possibly damage the rubber bushings. The last thing you want is to rebuild the lower, because it is much harder to take apart, then take off the car.
donttouchmetherelol as the video states, heat only the center where the Allen head goes. You won't heat the bushings up any more than the motor already does. You can cause more damage by not using a torch. It requires less force to break free with a torch
Hey Donny to put the crank pulley back on is there a certain toque spec you should use? And does it go back in the same way it came out ? Anything specific you need to do? My idler pulley snapped from the inner belt system and to put the new belt I gotta remove the crank pulley, I’ve seen many threads on how to remove the crank pulley but they never show how to install in back on.
Yes, it goes on just the way it came off, and get it on tight, but being that it’s reverse thread the engine spinning will actually tighten it up on its own. Just get it tight and you’ll be fine. That’s why they are so hard to get off
is there a good chance of damaging the flywheel? i only have one flywheel and really dont want to damage it. Really wish i would have know how difficult this pulley was before I removed the transmission. One more thing, can the crank bolt be reused or does it need to be replaced with a new one?
racequad9 there is a chance it could warp or damage the flywheel, but ours appeared to be okay..then again it was a steel flywheel from another car and not the factory aluminum one. You can put the transmission back on and re-attach the drive shaft (even heard of someone taking the u joint out of the driveshaft and putting a bar through the drive shaft to hold it still). At that point, seems like more work than finding another flywheel. You're not really taking a bolt out of the crank, so no need to replace it. I have seen people weld the Allen on so it becomes like a bolt
racequad9 yes. That bolt comes out and then you can pull the inner crank pulley off and move on to the timing cover. I also have a timing cover removal video
If you have a Home Depot nearby, the 1/2” drive black impact Husky kit worked for me as you saw in the video. otherwise you can try something like this, but you just want to make sure the tip is long enough as you saw in the video www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00T3M9SWM/ref=as_li_qf_asin_il_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=2004047-20&creative=9325&linkCode=as2&creativeASIN=B00T3M9SWM&linkId=17b877972b6fd0d42c23f4cfd0069f73
Yes. The Cobra gets its own belt system for the supercharger. This allows you to spin the supercharger separately and at different speeds than the water pump, a/c, power steering. Ford put the alternator on the supercharger system so that’s why many alternators have to be upgraded when they do larger crank pulleys on the cobras
Metco Motor Sports has a great replacement kit.Ive owned 2 04 Cobras and installed them on each one.Great parts and great customer service
Every time I look up a problem … you pop up !
🙏🏻
Last month it was a a/c vent !😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Now I got the king daddy problem !
Thank you buddy
Hey Danny! By any chance do you know where I can find some of those bushings that go on that pulley ?
Thank you Danny Johnson’s for that video 🙏
Sure thing!

Danny, I clicked a link from your Terminator COBRA FAQ that said "How to fix the COBRA CLUNK" and it took me to this... lol hmmmm
Thanks for letting me know. I must have had the wrong link. I updated it now.

Danny Johnson oh okay I see well thanks for the reply it helped me a lot! Seems like I’ll be having my car back up and running this weekend!
Savage Habits Good to hear that. Good luck
Very helpful videos for repairs on my 2003. I also have a 2014 Trac Pac. Do you do S197 upgrade/repair videos?
Chris Cook mostly new edge since that's what I and my friends own, but many repairs are similar
Whats the procedure for installing, torque specs ?? Thanks man great channel
Torque specs? Who cares! One WOT and that will be VERY tight since it will tighten up as the supercharger spins!
Awesome Thank you, Thank you, Thank you...
virgil Paul I’m glad you enjoyed it
thanks so much!
danterakin you bet!

the bolt you point at @ 3:25 , is that the crank pulley? Does it need to come out to get the timing cover off?
racequad9 yes. That bolt comes out and then you can pull the inner crank pulley off and move on to the timing cover. I also have a timing cover removal video
Scrun Johnson thanks, bud
I'll check out that video
Where can I get that 14mm hex bit

on my 2001 roush stage 3 the design is very different 😮

No way to use an impact?
John Herron there is if you have space. The impact is good to jostle it up a bit, but don't mess up the rubber bushings doing so
