Wow over 40 books! That’s a lot! And wow your number one is a book I tried and couldn’t get into at all. The cover was so cool I thought it would be awesome. I just couldn’t read that writing style. But that’s awesome that it inspired you!! There’s so many types of books and writings. You should totally write however and whatever you want and put it out there for others to be inspired. That’s cool.
I'm glad you had an amazing reading year, so did I! Practically all I read in the first half of the year was Robin Hobb's realm of the elderlings books (she's now become my favourite author, I highly recommend this series. I heard someone once say "her books are fantasy for literary fiction lovers" and its so true! She does the best character writing of anyone I've ever read and her prose is delightful. I know you favour first person povs so I think you are bound to get on with her books following Fitz. It starts off when he's a little boy sent off to a castle and we see him grow up to adulthood. The point I'm at he's in his 60's, she makes the progression so believable. (The first book is called Assassin's Apprentice if you are at all swayed by my recommendation hehe)) I'm going into this year with more hope and excitement than usual, Idk why but I feel that good things are coming. Still in awe of your youtube videos, you have such a commanding prescence while being so comforting to watch, all the best for this new year 🤍
My three favorite books of the year were all books I discovered on your chanel. Little weirds, The Once and Future Sex, and Galatea. I also listened to Lifeforms, and Modern Love is on the reading list for this year. Another favorite for the year is Wicked which is not much like the movie, and I am still listening to Emily Willson’s The Iliad. Finally Bernadette Banner’s Make, Sew and Mend which is a book on traditional hand sewing techniques despite sounding like it is a collection of introspective personal essays. Happy New Year 🎉
I went down a magical realism rabbit hole and found your channel. *In the Distance* is the one you've painted into my thoughts. It finally releases on Audible this Tuesday. Pre-ordered. Thank you! Happy New Year, S.
Hi Saoirse, and Happy New Year! I'm so excited to share your video with my reading group. We do something a little different in that we select a theme instead of a specific book to read, and for our next meeting, we're reading from Daphne du Maurier's collection of works. Shockingly, I'm the only one who has read her! For book group I'm reading one of her lesser known works: "Mary Anne". It is based on du Maurier's own great-great-grandmother and set during the Napoleonic Wars. As for my favorite books in 2024 (in no particular order), American Notes by Charles Dickens, The Garden Party (collection of short stories) by Katherine Mansfield, David Nicholls' You are Here, George, A Magpie Memoir by Sylvia Plath's daughter, Frieda Hughes, Mala's Cat by Mala Kacenberg (this book was AMAZING!), and The Housekeeper and the Professor. 🙂 I'm very interested in the book you mentioned: "In the Distance." I very much enjoy stories that take you on a journey.
Thank you for sharing 🙏 you inspire me to read more books

Good list… I appreciate the wide variety you read! Methinks you should be a bookseller…❤️
Methinks I need a bookselling partner 👀👀👀

I've watched the TV series of Modern Love and liked it so much. Didn't know there is a book. I'm definitely picking it up
