Along with a pressure regulator on the supply side of my water hose, I installed a brass quick connect on the Rv side of the hose and it’s mate on the Rv, so no screwing the hose on the Rv. I also purchased quick connections for the tv connections so no trying to screw the Itsy-bitsy tv connections. Harry Holden
Ok we got the zero G hose, I found we dropped in water pressure. You said you have 55psi can you tell me what the pressure is going into the hose? How much pressure you lose?

@@laurastark2932 No. They only provide 12v DC power for your RV. Your air conditioner, microwave, and electric water heater all require 120v AC power which is why you have to “plug in” to use them. Everything else in the RV uses 12v DC power from the batteries: water pump, lights, fans, fridge, phone chargers, etc. You could install a lot of Battleborn batteries (6 would do), a large inverter (inverters take 12v DC power and invert it to 120v AC power), and run the air conditioner using the batteries (batteries->inverter->air conditioner) but the cost for those items with installation is enough to deter most people. That’s why most people end up using a small gas generator to run their air conditioning. The other important thing to consider when trying to run an air conditioner using batteries is: How am I going to recharge the batteries? If you wanted to use solar you would need a large array of panels (1500+ watts) to generate enough electricity to make up for what the air conditioner used from the batteries. So I guess the answer is actually yes, but how large is your bank account? :) Can you install everything yourself? We’re talking $15,000+ if you have it installed. Also, do you have enough physical room for the batteries and large array of solar panels on your roof? Weight becomes a concern at some point. Most folks spend $1200 on a Honda eu2200i generator and Microair EasyStart 364 and then the air conditioner runs great when you’re boondocking. :) Happy travels!

Since most fresh water intake valves on RV’s are plastic and prone to breakage, I’ve found that it is a good idea to purchase a copper 90 degree elbow which you install once. Add in quick connect fittings and you can easily hook up your fresh water hose and minimize the strain on the plastic fitting.

I have a lithium battery as well I love it! I switched out all my lights over to LED's Even my refrigerator bulb that all cost me a big chunk of cash. But the investment will be a lifetime of worry free RVing
We got a washer a couple of years ago. It does the washing and spin cycle in a single tub, making it possible to do bigger loads. Plus you don’t have to handle the dripping wet clothes to transfer to the spin side. It’s probably a bit smaller than a double sided machine (which I’d been looking at before finding this one) so it will fit in a smaller footprint. Even though we have had it a couple of years already, every few months my wife thanks me for talking her into it.
It's great to find a fellow 1985 owner on YT! We love our Battle Born batteries as well, and spent 9 days off grid in November using our 190 watt solar panel. If you want to get even more capability, especially in winter, add a tilt kit to your panel.
Love several of your recs but heard the breaks screech at the tinkle twinkle. I cant image how much fecal matter is all over that toilet light. What do you do with it when you clean the toilet? Do kids use the bathroom? I would think they would be tempted to play with it. You should never leave a toothbrush exposed in your bathroom and always flush with the lid closed. You still have to wash your hands and make it back to the bed without stubbin a toe. Watch a video of what happens when you flush under a black light. No one wanted to be aware of that science! Pick up a nightlight. It’s on before your feet hit the floor and you can even buy some that project images! So fun! Maybe you’re a car guy or a Disney fan? Go wild! Thanks for the vid! Be blessed!
The washer spinner is a super idea. One time we were in the kananaskis Provincial Park & some people from Germany had rented a C class RV & couldn’t understand English wording. They dumped their sewer into the fresh tank not knowing that they did so. My mother in law did a load of laundry in the common shower/laundry rooms offered by the park... Opening up the washer to find TURDS staining all our clothing!!!! The park had to pay for our cloths. But it was disgusting... Wished we had that little washer! They also work great in an apartment. My daughter lives in an apartment where there is a common laundry. Sometimes its very creepy. It’s for all the floors & in the basement of the building. I got her one of these & she loves it! It works great. We had one for a bit growing up on the farm. My mom loved the ringer side. It really did do a better job spinning out the clothing. Our prior use was an Old Ringer washer with a squeeze roller on the top. Where you had to FEED the clothes through 2 rubber rollers & squish out the water... It was dangerous. Had to be dumped just like the little one of course... but the little washer was easier to dump & refill with fresh water again where as the larger ringer washer we never refilled it with clean water. So darks were always last to get washed & the water was always black.. Oh ya did I mention there was 10 of us? Ya It sucked... we wore out that little washer.... I didn’t like having to move the cloths over to the spinner when they were full of water & so wet & heavy. But the CLEAN ASPECT of it is PERFECT. Better than some commercial washers
@@TravelswithDelaney long term RV.. we haul RV s from Indiana. Every 3 To 6 days looking for a laundry. Truck stops have them too, but there are days I wish we had that little spin washer.. endless! It spins the cloths so dry! & cleans so well! . We end up in Canada & their accommodations is back 50 years. No bathrooms in site, rest stops have a garbage can & the most toxic out houses! Barbaric! In USA you find travellers parked at rest stops making food going for walks benches, phone, water, shade ......in Canada ... not a chance! Some times we have to STAY AT THEM.. no bathroom, no food, no laundry, no water, no lighting, most are gravel, so mud holes galore! Things to be thankful for! That little washer.. is part of my dream pack for retired RV life. The other is an inline wabaso heater.
Batteries, also look at the new heated Renogy battery or the SOK battery for less money. I put a cheap wall mounted motion light in the bathroom to avoid having one that can get gross pretty quick mounted to the toilet.
Another (Got to have) is a portable ice maker. Small fits on your counter, carries its own water supply, can use it outside as well. 24 lb. per day capacity, will not be without one again.
Hughes watch dog is outstanding. I can't tell you how great it is take my word for it. It worth every penny. Saved me big time when the park had several major power spikes and then the power went out. Watch dog cut power Instantly. No damage to any of the electronics. AC UNIT or any other thing hooked to the electric.
We love our Watchdog! I love the fact that I can use the App to know exactly how much power we are drawing at any given time. Helps us mange our power needs.
I'm planning an ambulance conversion and had just discovered the small washer/dryer. What a great thing to have which most people seem to overlook. Sure it needs power and water, but it's gotta be better than having to find a laundromat all the time!
Great list. I have a hard-wired surge protector and was the first upgrade to my RV. The importance of using one cannot be stressed enough. I have been using the toilet glow device for a few years now and all I can say is it's the stupidest best gadget ever.
Here is a 1 1/2 year perspective... We went through 5, yep ...5 of those type of hoses and they all sprang a pinhole leak...should have learned from #1, #2 or Even the third but they cannot effectively be repaired. Did find one good 25 footer and it made it through last season. We plan for a manual washer and we have the clothes line for inside or put and like that. Where we are kinda stuck is we are a low budget couple and solar and battery is a tough pill. We have made it 2 nights on battery alone but have the regular big old batteries and I don't suspect there would be any more than that in them without solar...which is the first big expense and we don't want to do a little of this and that but 4 200amp panels. The hard part is the wiring and the controllers that will give us the best out of the panels. Oh, we are in a 35' Newmar motorhome and love it. With all the advances in battery tech we are hoping the cost of the batteries come down ...ALOT in the next year or so. We are now actively watching and reading reviews on controllers and the panels they will work with etc ... Thanks for the info and sorry we are a year late...LOL
I prefer the Hughes Auto former we bought for our motorhome. It not only works great as a surge protector, it also boost the voltage if there is a drop or the park just has bad power. It will keep the voltage to 119 even if the power level drops to 110. We had been using the 30 amp version with our fifth wheel, but bought the 50 amp version for our motorhome. Well worth the 600 bucks, especially if you have a residential fridge.
We have the zero g 50’ hose, autoformer with boost. We have the washer/spin machine...awesome, and I just ordered the haloview rd10.3 safari 105ah lithium batteries, xantrex 3000 watt inverter, 400 watts of solar on roof, 200 watts suitecase. Could boondock for at least 3 days no sun. We love it! Next a toilet bowl light. Almost time to get out in New England. Have a great day!
Our favorite accessories of 2020 were the Victron battery monitor, the Maxxair Deluxe fan, and not sure it's an accessory, but the rooftop solar installation. Those 3 things have given us so much freedom! Next, I need the hose!
Re: Water hose I lived full time in an RV after Hurricane Harvey for 2.5 years. One of the biggest problems I had using those white "RV" water hoses was green algae (well water). Your hose is opaque and algae won't grow, or at least not as fast.
Actually, because the hose shrinks like it does, there's more water that sits in the hose when stored, and will grow bacteria and algae faster than a typical hose.
I added a macerator pump to my waste water system. So far I love not having a big hose stretched out for waste water. Everything goes through a garden hose although I still carry the big hose in case of pump failure.
Noticed you recommended the portable EMS. The EMS measures voltage at it's location, therefore the most accurate voltage measurements will be when it is placed closest to the load. If the EMS is placed at the power pedestal, it can measure 104V (just above the voltage cutoff threshold), yet due to the voltage drop along the 30Amp drop cord, there may only be100V at the RV. Even worse, if the EMS cutoff voltage is 102V, the RV voltage could be 98V. (depends on EMS cutoff) The hard-wired version would eliminate this issue since it's closer to the load, especially for a 30amp. This is less of an issue for 50 amp unless you're using a 30amp cable.

I noticed you put your hose in the under body compartment. I think I will do the same. That way if there is residual water in the hose. It can only go on the ground. Thanks for another Awsome video.

Our apartment doesn't have a washer hook up, I came across this type of washer a few years back. Totally LOVE IT. It's my everyday washer. We plan to take it with us this summer to Ft. Pickens. I'm surprised more people don't use them.

Usually because of all the idiots with those string lights and morons that leave on their awning, porch lights; we have enough light coming thru our sky light to read a newspaper.
Nice list! Have the 30amp Autoformer, I cut the shore line just before inverter, added male & female connectors, and plugged the AF in between. And we have the motion detector potty lites in 3 bathrooms at home - one is on the shower door, one on the tub faucet, & a 3rd on a towel rack like that they change color.
I stumbled across your video while browsing. I am now a subscriber. I like your easy going style and our needs/desires in our RVs are similar. Our RV has a built in rear camera, so we haven't upgraded it to recording. In 2020, I bought a portable compact washing machine too, I just recently decided to purchase the collapsible water hose (no more fighting with a hard-to-coil white water hose in cold weather) and Battle Borns are on my Spring buying plan. We installed one of those inexpensive, battery operated, bar motion-detector lights on the wall behind our toilet last year. It has been great to have the light I need without turning on the glaring bathroom light and waking the rest of the camper inhabitants. So, we are right behind you. Thanks for the ideas. One tip, I highly recommend that you use a 90* brass elbow at your city water connection (trailer side). This will take the strain/weight off that connection. Safe Travels.

Good Video. We love our Zero G hose! They are fantastic hoses. And we have the little Toilet light too.. it really is nice to have in the bathroom and getting up in the middle of the night and not needing to turn on the lights is a plus. We are looking at a battery upgrade, but not really looking into solar, so we need to pencil that out and see what we need and what we want to spend. Thanks for sharing.
I’ve got 2 Battleborn batteries with a 1500wt inverter and I agree that they are a game changer. 👍 I wish I had the system more integrated into our trailer but it’s working so I guess I’ll stick with it. Once my 2 lead acid batteries go I’ll replace them with the battleborn units. Thinking about 2 portable solar panels as whatever I get I’d like to be able to use them in another trailer if we got on plus at home in a emergency situation. We have one of the camco surge protectors that I picked up when we got the trailer and have been looking at the watchdog units. Also the Progressive industries one I’m looking at both are close to the price same so I’m trying to determine which one to get. Thanks great list. I would like to add I have old school acid flood batteries. Have been off grid over a month using solar charge system. I would switch them out if it were not for the expensive price tag for the lithium Batteries. Also might be good to point out some equipment not suitable for lithium batteries. That being said . You missed the best feature of the Hughes surge protector. It has a replaceable surge protection board. Instead of buying a whole new unit, you can just get a board and replace it. The board is around $30.
A friend of mine set up in a park that was being renovated down here in Florida. The idiot electrician wired the 30 amp outlet like the 50 amp... TWO hots and a neutral (240 volts instead of 120). It blew EVERYTHING in his motorhome: both flat panels, microwave, Hi-Fi equipment, invert/charger, auto-transfer switch, power awning. You name it... it blew it. And of course, the park had in its contract that it was not responsible for any damages to any equipment. That was in the fall. He has spent over $2,500... and still hasn't replaced everything. I ALWAYS check the pole with a multi-meter before plugging in!!!
@@stinkstick17 Well yes... and no. The neutral leg is grounded at the nearest step-down transformer. And, in places where the breaker panel is close to the meter box, the neutral buss bar is bonded to the grounded box with a green screw through it and into the box. That ties the neutral and the local grounding rod together at that point as well. So technically, ground is ground... but a neutral is a grounded neutral. Even on old two wire outlets, there was a hot lead, and a grounded neutral. The reason for the three wire system, and one lead being wider on the plug and outlet even on two wire equipment; is to ensure the correct wiring on whatever is being plugged in. Just imagine an old two wire metal electric space heater being plugged in backwards. Happened all the time. And, if the heater was wired wrong inside, standing in water and touching it could electrocute someone. Then came the GFI. A GFI measures the current between the outlet's ground and neutral back to the box, or in the box itself in the case of a GFI breaker. If it senses the slightest difference in the two currents, something is wrong and it trips. Sadly, in the case of unscrupulous electricians updating a panel in an older house... they simply wire the ground and neutral connections together at the GFI outlet so it's impossible for it to trip other than with the test button . This electrician would be the type to pull a stunt like that. :( In this case, I doubt he even bothered to check how RV outlets are wired. He just hooked it up the way he thought it should be. Back in the day, an electric range or clothes dryer only had a three wire plug. Two hots and a neutral, and the neutral was also used as the ground and attached to the frame. It was only recently they went to four wires with the added ground. The electrician was probably old, and retired, and a friend of the owner, and doing him a favor rewiring the place. Or... he was one of the many that just don't give a damn. And, of course, the owner did a CYA in the contract... so he wasn't out any money regardless of what happened.
When we replace our pvc type old style water hose we are going with one of these. We definitely advantage of any bit of we can gain. Omg!! We love, love the light up toilet!!!!! Lou & Angie

I just paid for a 2016 Lance 1685. Just waiting on the hitch to arrive si I can install it and the wiring. THEN I will be installing battle born batteries and Victron components for off grid. And solar once I measure the roof to figure out what will fit.
I put a bidet on my RV toilet, less than $100, can get a heated one, I didn’t though because I wanted to see if it would work. It work’s awesome, use only a couple sheets of tp, less junk in black tank, and cleans your hind end better. Really don’t need the heated one, but would be nice, I have them on all our house toilets, heated ones that that is.

We have the Hughes product and the Bluetooth feature is marvelous, especially with a 30 A service. With the water heater cranking away, blowers on the heat, etc, it is easy to push the button on your fast heat tea kettle and put yourself in the dark. I definitely wish getting 50 A service was an option on small trailers. We also use a Zero G hose but as our utility hose. Once they showed up at Lowe’s, buying one was a no brained. Still looking for motion activated lights for closets. I want ones without a light sensor. If I open the door, turn on the light! Keep up the good work!

They are great recommendations!! So.....we've finally got down to business on selecting some sort of RV set up. On the consideration was a small 20ft couples trailer and struggling with the Tacoma, getting a new full size truck and a mid sized trailer, or a Class C. I really appreciate the washing machine you highlighted as when we were considering Class C's, we focused on ones that had a washer/dryer combo. Anyways....we've decided to get a new truck for towing and to get an Outdoors RV travel trailer. The truck will be a crew cab long bed gasser. The ORV trailer will be one of their "smaller" rigs, the 21KVS. Like with all the ones you guys looked at, there is always pluses and minuses with every one of these things. We'll be doing 1-2 week trips here in CO and the surrounding states that focus on boondocking in the national forests and BLM lands, as well as the national forest campgrounds. This particular rig has a center bath that takes up more space in the middle than I'd care for. But, the tv angle is ok for both sides of the dinette and the kitchen is a home run with tremendous storage and windows. Ha....this "smaller" ORV rig is still 25ft long. If I wasn't averse to bigger, I could add 6ft to the length and have a house on wheels. I like your battery set up too!! Does your rig have an inverter (or converter...I'm not sure of the terminology) to run some of your plugs off of your batteries? This will have to be something that we dive into a bit more when I get my trailer order in next week. ORVs don't offer inverters; I'd have to get one installed. Safe travels and know the offer for moochdocking in Ouray is always open for you two!

Our Zero hose is great. Have a 25'' & 50'. Suggestion, when not in use or stored, screw the ends together to keep the portable water hose clean.

You don’t want to screw the ends together. The hose needs to breath to dry out other wise your going to get bacteria growing

Plus you don’t have to handle the dripping wet clothes to transfer to the spin side. It’s probably a bit smaller than a double sided machine (which I’d been looking at before finding this one) so it will fit in a smaller footprint. Even though we have had it a couple of years already, every few months my wife thanks me for talking her into it.
It's great to find a fellow 1985 owner on YT! We love our Battle Born batteries as well, and spent 9 days off grid in November using our 190 watt solar panel. If you want to get even more capability, especially in winter, add a tilt kit to your panel.

Love several of your recs but heard the breaks screech at the tinkle twinkle. I cant image how much fecal matter is all over that toilet light. What do you do with it when you clean the toilet? Do kids use the bathroom? I would think they would be tempted to play with it. You should never leave a toothbrush exposed in your bathroom and always flush with the lid closed. You still have to wash your hands and make it back to the bed without stubbin a toe. Watch a video of what happens when you flush under a black light. No one wanted to be aware of that science! Pick up a nightlight. It’s on before your feet hit the floor and you can even buy some that project images! So fun! Maybe you’re a car guy or a Disney fan? Go wild!

The washer spinner is a super idea. One time we were in the kananaskis Provincial Park & some people from Germany had rented a C class RV & couldn’t understand English wording. They dumped their sewer into the fresh tank not knowing that they did so. My mother in law did a load of laundry in the common shower/laundry rooms offered by the park... Opening up the washer to find TURDS staining all our clothing!!!! The park had to pay for our cloths. But it was disgusting... Wished we had that little washer! They also work great in an apartment. My daughter lives in an apartment where there is a common laundry. Sometimes its very creepy. It’s for all the floors & in the basement of the building. I got her one of these & she loves it! It works great. We had one for a bit growing up on the farm. My mom loved the ringer side. It really did do a better job spinning out the clothing. Our prior use was an Old Ringer washer with a squeeze roller on the top. Where you had to FEED the clothes through 2 rubber rollers & squish out the water... It was dangerous. Had to be dumped just like the little one of course... but the little washer was easier to dump & refill with fresh water again where as the larger ringer washer we never refilled it with clean water. So darks were always last to get washed & the water was always black.. Oh ya did I mention there was 10 of us? Ya It sucked... we wore out that little washer.... I didn’t like having to move the cloths over to the spinner when they were full of water & so wet & heavy. But the CLEAN ASPECT of it is PERFECT. Better than some commercial washers

@@TravelswithDelaney long term RV.. we haul RV s from Indiana. Every 3 To 6 days looking for a laundry. Truck stops have them too, but there are days I wish we had that little spin washer.. endless! It spins the cloths so dry! & cleans so well! . We end up in Canada & their accommodations is back 50 years. No bathrooms in site, rest stops have a garbage can & the most toxic out houses! Barbaric! In USA you find travellers parked at rest stops making food going for walks benches, phone, water, shade ......in Canada ... not a chance! Some times we have to STAY AT THEM.. no bathroom, no food, no laundry, no water, no lighting, most are gravel, so mud holes galore! Things to be thankful for! That little washer.. is part of my dream pack for retired RV life.
The other is an inline wabaso heater.
Batteries, also look at the new heated Renogy battery or the SOK battery for less money. I put a cheap wall mounted motion light in the bathroom to avoid having one that can get gross pretty quick mounted to the toilet.

Another (Got to have) is a portable ice maker. Small fits on your counter, carries its own water supply, can use it outside as well. 24 lb. per day capacity, will not be without one again.

Hughes watch dog is outstanding. I can't tell you how great it is take my word for it. It worth every penny. Saved me big time when the park had several major power spikes and then the power went out. Watch dog cut power Instantly. No damage to any of the electronics. AC UNIT or any other thing hooked to the electric.
We love our Watchdog! I love the fact that I can use the App to know exactly how much power we are drawing at any given time. Helps us mange our power needs.

I'm planning an ambulance conversion and had just discovered the small washer/dryer. What a great thing to have which most people seem to overlook. Sure it needs power and water, but it's gotta be better than having to find a laundromat all the time!

Great list. I have a hard-wired surge protector and was the first upgrade to my RV. The importance of using one cannot be stressed enough. I have been using the toilet glow device for a few years now and all I can say is it's the stupidest best gadget ever.

Here is a 1 1/2 year perspective...
We went through 5, yep ...5 of those type of hoses and they all sprang a pinhole leak...should have learned from #1, #2 or Even the third but they cannot effectively be repaired. Did find one good 25 footer and it made it through last season.
We plan for a manual washer and we have the clothes line for inside or put and like that.
Where we are kinda stuck is we are a low budget couple and solar and battery is a tough pill. We have made it 2 nights on battery alone but have the regular big old batteries and I don't suspect there would be any more than that in them without solar...which is the first big expense and we don't want to do a little of this and that but 4 200amp panels. The hard part is the wiring and the controllers that will give us the best out of the panels.
Oh, we are in a 35' Newmar motorhome and love it.
With all the advances in battery tech we are hoping the cost of the batteries come down ...ALOT in the next year or so.
We are now actively watching and reading reviews on controllers and the panels they will work with etc ...

I prefer the Hughes Auto former we bought for our motorhome. It not only works great as a surge protector, it also boost the voltage if there is a drop or the park just has bad power. It will keep the voltage to 119 even if the power level drops to 110. We had been using the 30 amp version with our fifth wheel, but bought the 50 amp version for our motorhome. Well worth the 600 bucks, especially if you have a residential fridge.
We have the zero g 50’ hose, autoformer with boost. We have the washer/spin machine...awesome, and I just ordered the haloview rd10.3 safari 105ah lithium batteries, xantrex 3000 watt inverter, 400 watts of solar on roof, 200 watts suitecase. Could boondock for at least 3 days no sun. We love it! Next a toilet bowl light. Almost time to get out in New England. Have a great day!

Our favorite accessories of 2020 were the Victron battery monitor, the Maxxair Deluxe fan, and not sure it's an accessory, but the rooftop solar installation. Those 3 things have given us so much freedom! Next, I need the hose!

I lived full time in an RV after Hurricane Harvey for 2.5 years. One of the biggest problems I had using those white "RV" water hoses was green algae (well water). Your hose is opaque and algae won't grow, or at least not as fast.

Actually, because the hose shrinks like it does, there's more water that sits in the hose when stored, and will grow bacteria and algae faster than a typical hose.
I added a macerator pump to my waste water system. So far I love not having a big hose stretched out for waste water. Everything goes through a garden hose although I still carry the big hose in case of pump failure.

Noticed you recommended the portable EMS. The EMS measures voltage at it's location, therefore the most accurate voltage measurements will be when it is placed closest to the load. If the EMS is placed at the power pedestal, it can measure 104V (just above the voltage cutoff threshold), yet due to the voltage drop along the 30Amp drop cord, there may only be100V at the RV. Even worse, if the EMS cutoff voltage is 102V, the RV voltage could be 98V. (depends on EMS cutoff)
The hard-wired version would eliminate this issue since it's closer to the load, especially for a 30amp. This is less of an issue for 50 amp unless you're using a 30amp cable.
I have a portable washer in my small mobile home, they are GREAT for apts, any small living space.
They work very well and can be used in so many places.

Zero replaced my hose free after the connector failed. All I had to do is chop off the ends and take a photo 📸!!!

Our apartment doesn't have a washer hook up, I came across this type of washer a few years back. Totally LOVE IT. It's my everyday washer. We plan to take it with us this summer to Ft. Pickens. I'm surprised more people don't use them.

Nice list! Have the 30amp Autoformer, I cut the shore line just before inverter, added male & female connectors, and plugged the AF in between. And we have the motion detector potty lites in 3 bathrooms at home - one is on the shower door, one on the tub faucet, & a 3rd on a towel rack like that they change color.

Our RV has a built in rear camera, so we haven't upgraded it to recording. In 2020, I bought a portable compact washing machine too, I just recently decided to purchase the collapsible water hose (no more fighting with a hard-to-coil white water hose in cold weather) and Battle Borns are on my Spring buying plan. We installed one of those inexpensive, battery operated, bar motion-detector lights on the wall behind our toilet last year. It has been great to have the light I need without turning on the glaring bathroom light and waking the rest of the camper inhabitants. So, we are right behind you. Thanks for the ideas. All good stuff!, The Power Watchdog "Total Electrical Protection" unit is by far the best in the industry, I love the Zero-G hose as well. One tip, I highly recommend that you use a 90* brass elbow at your city water connection (trailer side). This will take the strain/weight off that connection. Safe Travels.

Good Video. We love our Zero G hose! They are fantastic hoses. And we have the little Toilet light too.. it really is nice to have in the bathroom and getting up in the middle of the night and not needing to turn on the lights is a plus. We are looking at a battery upgrade, but not really looking into solar, so we need to pencil that out and see what we need and what we want to spend. Thanks for sharing.

I’ve got 2 Battleborn batteries with a 1500wt inverter and I agree that they are a game changer. 👍 I wish I had the system more integrated into our trailer but it’s working so I guess I’ll stick with it. Once my 2 lead acid batteries go I’ll replace them with the battleborn units.
Thinking about 2 portable solar panels as whatever I get I’d like to be able to use them in another trailer if we got on plus at home in a emergency situation.
We have one of the camco surge protectors that I picked up when we got the trailer and have been looking at the watchdog units. Also the Progressive industries one I’m looking at both are close to the price same so I’m trying to determine which one to get. I like that both of them have a replaceable module in case of a major surge.

Thanks great list. I would like to add I have old school acid flood batteries. Have been off grid over a month using solar charge system. I would switch them out if it were not for the expensive price tag for the lithium Batteries. Also might be good to point out some equipment not suitable for lithium batteries. That being said . You missed the best feature of the Hughes surge protector. It has a replaceable surge protection board. Instead of buying a whole new unit, you can just get a board and replace it. The board is around $30.

A friend of mine set up in a park that was being renovated down here in Florida. The idiot electrician wired the 30 amp outlet like the 50 amp... TWO hots and a neutral (240 volts instead of 120). It blew EVERYTHING in his motorhome: both flat panels, microwave, Hi-Fi equipment, invert/charger, auto-transfer switch, power awning. You name it... it blew it. And of course, the park had in its contract that it was not responsible for any damages to any equipment. That was in the fall. He has spent over $2,500... and still hasn't replaced everything. I ALWAYS check the pole with a multi-meter before plugging in!!!
WOW! That had to be a complete nightmare for them.
Then that 30A wasn’t grounded either if he hooked up two hots and a neutral. 30A only has three terminals when you wire it, hot, neutral, ground.
@@stinkstick17 Well yes... and no. The neutral leg is grounded at the nearest step-down transformer. And, in places where the breaker panel is close to the meter box, the neutral buss bar is bonded to the grounded box with a green screw through it and into the box. That ties the neutral and the local grounding rod together at that point as well. So technically, ground is ground... but a neutral is a grounded neutral. Even on old two wire outlets, there was a hot lead, and a grounded neutral. The reason for the three wire system, and one lead being wider on the plug and outlet even on two wire equipment; is to ensure the correct wiring on whatever is being plugged in. Just imagine an old two wire metal electric space heater being plugged in backwards. Happened all the time. And, if the heater was wired wrong inside, standing in water and touching it could electrocute someone. Then came the GFI. A GFI measures the current between the outlet's ground and neutral back to the box, or in the box itself in the case of a GFI breaker. If it senses the slightest difference in the two currents, something is wrong and it trips. Sadly, in the case of unscrupulous electricians updating a panel in an older house... they simply wire the ground and neutral connections together at the GFI outlet so it's impossible for it to trip other than with the test button . This electrician would be the type to pull a stunt like that. :( In this case, I doubt he even bothered to check how RV outlets are wired. He just hooked it up the way he thought it should be. Back in the day, an electric range or clothes dryer only had a three wire plug. Two hots and a neutral, and the neutral was also used as the ground and attached to the frame. It was only recently they went to four wires with the added ground. The electrician was probably old, and retired, and a friend of the owner, and doing him a favor rewiring the place. Or... he was one of the many that just don't give a damn. And, of course, the owner did a CYA in the contract... so he wasn't out any money regardless of what happened.

Got one for Christmas. Fits in our shower with a shower seat. Love our new bigger shower. Great for husbands physical needs.
I just paid for a 2016 Lance 1685. Just waiting on the hitch to arrive si I can install it and the wiring. THEN I will be installing battle born batteries and Victron components for off grid. And solar once I measure the roof to figure out what will fit.

I put a bidet on my RV toilet, less than $100, can get a heated one, I didn’t though because I wanted to see if it would work. It work’s awesome, use only a couple sheets of tp, less junk in black tank, and cleans your hind end better. Really don’t need the heated one, but would be nice, I have them on all our house toilets, heated ones that that is.
We wondered about those. That may be something we might want to try. Any brand you recommend?

We had a great time and the weather was perfect for us. Sadly we are back in Indiana now.
We have the Hughes product and the Bluetooth feature is marvelous, especially with a 30 A service. With the water heater cranking away, blowers on the heat, etc, it is easy to push the button on your fast heat tea kettle and put yourself in the dark. I definitely wish getting 50 A service was an option on small trailers. We also use a Zero G hose but as our utility hose. Once they showed up at Lowe’s, buying one was a no brained.
Still looking for motion activated lights for closets. I want ones without a light sensor. If I open the door, turn on the light!

So.....we've finally got down to business on selecting some sort of RV set up. On the consideration was a small 20ft couples trailer and struggling with the Tacoma, getting a new full size truck and a mid sized trailer, or a Class C. I really appreciate the washing machine you highlighted as when we were considering Class C's, we focused on ones that had a washer/dryer combo.
Anyways....we've decided to get a new truck for towing and to get an Outdoors RV travel trailer. The truck will be a crew cab long bed gasser. The ORV trailer will be one of their "smaller" rigs, the 21KVS. Like with all the ones you guys looked at, there is always pluses and minuses with every one of these things. We'll be doing 1-2 week trips here in CO and the surrounding states that focus on boondocking in the national forests and BLM lands, as well as the national forest campgrounds. This particular rig has a center bath that takes up more space in the middle than I'd care for. But, the tv angle is ok for both sides of the dinette and the kitchen is a home run with tremendous storage and windows. Ha....this "smaller" ORV rig is still 25ft long. If I wasn't averse to bigger, I could add 6ft to the length and have a house on wheels.
I like your battery set up too!! Does your rig have an inverter (or converter...I'm not sure of the terminology) to run some of your plugs off of your batteries? This will have to be something that we dive into a bit more when I get my trailer order in next week. ORVs don't offer inverters; I'd have to get one installed.
