One of your best Eddy, and I am pleased that you did get to the end of Duke St - at Parkhead Cross. As you had passed Tennents brewery the old derelict building next to Lidl used to be Duke St Hospital, the part that is left was then turned into flats but I believe there was a subsidence issue and declared unsafe, however the faced is supposed to be a listed building so it cant be demolished. Straight across from it - the new houses are built on top of what was Glasgow Slaughthouse and meat market. Parts of Dennistoun have beautiful old apartments, but some parts can be a bit dodgy. The Forge shopping centre is named after the Glasgow Forge that closed many years ago - the location that you thought was the end of Duke St was were The Forge covered. Anyway great video and great commentary along the way.
Did you know that Duke St was the first place that Buffalo Bill brought his show in 1891? Annie Oakley also was in the show. Some of the native Americans that came with him disappeared into the Dennistoun ether as they didn’t want to go back with him, and some ended up in Barlinnie for being drunk and disorderly
@Eddy Cheese , Congratulations on completing the UK's longest Street . If you go back 100 years or so Duke St was the 2nd longest in the UK . Sauchiehall Street in Glasgow used to be the longest street not only in the UK but in Europe .
Hi Eddy! Its Andrew Erroch fae Paisley here. I have funny feeling you really want to be Scottish. You are very welcome to join us. I like the Tennents Wellpark Brewery on Duke Street. I visited it once or twice with my wife and my daughters. I hope they still host the cooking classes there. That was a brilliant evening we had. Keep gallivanting! Æ 🙏🚶♂️
I walk up and down Duke St everyday of my life (not the full length!) but I still find it massively interesting watching you here Mr Cheeeeeee. Come back soon!
Duke Street is where the UK's Housing Assosiations were born Eddy, i haven't been up Duke Street in over 20 years. I know it very well...i was born in the old duke street hospital that is no longer there.
Used to drive up and down Duke St. And occasionally set foot on it, when I had reason to, but times change, and I have no reason to go back any time soon.
At 12mins,20secs youre at the traffic lights on Bellgrove street! (200m from St Marys chapel, birth place of Celtic football club) P.s. Ford Kiernan (wee fat guy on Still game/Chewin the fat) comes from Dennistoun!
Coia’s Cafe is good but was better in years gone by. There used to be a women’s prison on Duke St, about a minute into your walk and on the same side you were walking.
I just posted about Coias.im sure their 1st cafe was Gallowgate then they moved to the top of millerston street on the corner then moved again to Duke St.i was born 1970 and rmbr Coias but might be mistaken
I was going to say you never finished Duke st lol but you did at very end I was all ready typing untill I seen you added it at the end lol easy done but
They definately used to do tours, i was on one back in the mid 80's...i got gto pull the pints in the hospitality suite afterwards...got to drink as much lager as possible in the space of one hour...needless to say i was wrecked.
Unfortunately a lot of these beautiful buildings are being left to ruin because the local councils apparently don’t have money for the maintenance or upkeep, quite sad to watch these once grand buildings now derelict, abandoned and forgotten about and its happening everywhere. Easier and cheaper to throw up these tin shed partition jobs instead of proper buildings these days but definitely not as pleasing to the eye. Great video once again eddy 👌
@ if it’s a lane faire enough London can claim a lane but not a Street, also a king is of higher status than a Duke it’s almost a given that the king of all streets would be called King street , also famous RUclipsr across the pond or something mentioned it in one of his videos a few years back , stating it was also the longest street in Europe????
Eddy this was smashing, your enthusiasm for our country makes us love ye more. You are opening eyes and crushing the negativity. 🙏

Duke street is not the longest street in the uk , it’s actually king street in Aberdeen and .2 miles longer , sorry to burst your bubble
Disputed - not only King St that claims it, there is also a lane in London area that claims the title...
