I visited San Francisco recently. I had a wonderful time and I'll return, god willing. Like every city, it has problems. But it's far safer than many cities that I've been too.
Visiting someplace and actually living there are two totally different things and perspectives.
I'm glad you enjoyed it though.
@rockycvs3 You're right. I've lived in many places in North America and Europe, but l've only visited SF. Wherever you go, there you are.
I bet you were careful with your belonging and where you went.
If an employee can work & be productive at home, they should be allowed to.
When they're not driving twice a day, it saves fuel & the environment.
"But the ecoMony..."
I lived in SF for six years (2006 to 2012). It breaks my heart to see what’s happened. I still ❤️ SF. 🇬🇧
Don’t Believe the Hipe ... ( Its a Lie ) Watch Dolores park in 4k, thats STILL the way we are Rolling Today ~ 80% of the News is a Total lie...
If he is pressuring the city to focus on 3 day events rather than long-term livability, then he is not part of the solution.
That was my first thought. Also, what arrogance. It's like listening to a 16th century aristocrat
Talk about not being able to read a room!
@@Weemadaggie "Let's turn San Francisco into a Potemkin village for fly-in fly-out technocrats!!"
Return to office means, work clothes, gas, vehicle maintenance, lunches, etc. etc. etc. It has nothing to do with productivity. It's easy to keep small satellite offices to meet clients etc. Its an overall conspiracy amongst corporations to forcefully stimulate the economy by people struggling just to get by. If someone can't meet their deliverables working from home fire them and hire someone who can be self motivated and productive.
For 30 years now I've worked for companies where bosses rarely come into the office. They work from home, or their vacation homes. No one's buying their nonsense about return to office. I'd have more respect for them if they were just honest and stop gaslighting us. I'm in corporate finance. I don't meet with clients or collaborate. I work alone with my portfolio crunching numbers and doing spread sheets. Far more productive in the peace and quite at home and put in far more hours when I dont have to deal with a 2-3 hour commute. But yeah told collaboration and team building was vital and i had to return. What collaboration? What team? Save be the BS.
spot on
Why is this CEO so slovenly? Why is Stephanie interviewing this person? Why is the Salesforce tax rate 5.7% when mine is 22%? It's nice that she gives him some free advertising. Hum, is this like Under Armour?
I wish they would quit with the generic answer to solving homelessness and crime. " well, the city needs to address their issues", "The city needs to enforce their laws" "more police presense" i seriously doubt these rich people have given it a second thought. 6:29
What would you propose?
@@333jjjjjj I propose any of these masterminds who seriously give a darn to brainstorm with city and state officials via their remote locations they brag are so efficient, repeatedly until they have a plan. They have the resources to at least gather some social and economic experts. Officials and big business do. They can even open a public forum for suggestions to be submitted, there are many unofficial citizens who are great thinkers as well. This crisis is in all major cities across America and continues to grow.
Stop peddling lies about our City.
Corporate greed is the problem. Tax the rich!
Amen if these Corporations are so concerned find solutions and pay your taxes
Tax the people who create employment for others...
Eat the rich.
@@userjoe4321no! Don't tax them !
If you Tax them then they will leave and take their money with them…. Then who will you tax?
When are americans going to learn that you can't police your way out of your problems? This guy has nothing to say about the root causes of the problems of poverty and homelessness, which are tied to housing affordability, lack of mental health infrastructure, among other connected issues. But we shouldn't be surprised, why should this billionaire be different from any of the others?
Answer to your question: when the police identify you as the problem, even the most callous billionaires will question to solution of criminalizing the victims of capitalism. But then, capitalist societies don't incarcerate billionaires...
Not a true society. The original CA gold rush destroyed many people, as will the proposed coming of AI's 'golden age'.
Maybe, just for starters, these uber wealthy and privileged mega-companies should pay a fair share of taxes to the community they inhabit in order to fund police, infrastructure and the homeless issues. They see the problems each and everyday but from on high care little about them.
Yesssssss👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼🇬🇧
If we're grading on a curve, California companies are more likely to do that than in any other state.
Agree. His startlIng callousness - that the answer to SF’s homelessness is more police - suggests no deep thinking.
what would be a fair share
It doesn’t matter how much money San Francisco gets because it will be mismanaged and misappropriated
Please don't call it San Fran.
Okay "Frisko"
Many of these companies caused a lot of this. You ran the regular working class families out, caused an affordable housing crisis, increased the wealth gap but want the city to fix it? Some nerve!
Take all the empty office buildings, re-zone them as commercial properties, renovate them into small apartments, and take the homeless off the streets. It will be a hard task, and cost some money, but so does homelessness. Once they are on their feet and can start working, knowing they are in a safe space, you can charge rent on a sliding scale. How is this not already happening in every major city in America right now?
Remote work is awesome. If you have a job you can do from home, why then spend 40+ hours a week at in-person work when you don’t need to? That's time in traffic, paying for gas, clothing, etc. while also paying a mortgage or rent on an expensive property? I don’t get it. You get more time with your family, your disabled spouse or elderly parent, or your children, and you help with not furthering to destroy our planet by driving hours each week.
These problems have solutions but people don’t have the (political) will to follow through. 🤦🏼♀️🤯
"Take all the empty office buildings, ... renovate them into small apartments, and take the homeless off the streets." Sounds simple but a little bit of research on your part will reveal why that's not a solution.
You need to train homeless people so they get the job and can afford to rent.
Well, thats an Amazing idea.... but are you going to be the one who Babysits them?? they need a place .... but they will basically behave the way people do in Prison... so you have to supervise them...
@@michaelwells7348 Who supervises you?
@@celestialnubian you're part of the problem. let's not have perfect get in the way of good. it's clear you're the one not understanding.
There is no such thing as a completely self made man in a complex economy, we all contributed to their success and we should all get a return on our investment. Businesses benefit from roads, transport infrastructure built with your tax money, with employees educated in schools funded or partly funded by your tax money, there are many ways in which businesses benefit from paid taxes. It's time that rich individuals and wealthy businesses paid back their fair share of those taxes so that we can continue to keep our infrastructure/environment suitable for business and people to thrive in.
I gotta say I've never seen a self-made billionaire who made all their money in the middle of the desert cut-off from civilization. Gee, it always happens in a city. I wonder why 🤔?
You can’t possibly be this stupid bro. My goodness!
There are many cities in the world with less companies and they have beautiful infrastructure! This is about corruption. We get what we vote for. Both parties/sides are corrupt.
Tax the rich and fund social services.
Wait till you make more money. Then you’ll see how much more you get taxed. For people capable of working living off your tax money.
What is wrong with this reporter? She wants to disparage SF. Why?
Because of the obvious if you live here, genius.
Because S.F. is trash
It's always a "gold rush" for billionaires who pay little to no taxes and receive big subsidies and stimulus checks.
Please don't call it "San Fran," Stephanie! Love you, but...just don't say it.
Please don’t call it “San Fran”
San Francisco- one of the most unaffordable housing markets in the country and has been for decades. Has a homelessness problem that has also existed for decades. This guys solution? Invest in cops and enforce the law. Okay, you know what is cheaper than mass incarceration? Public housing. For such a "smart" guy, you would think he might at least mention the role of housing in the problem of unhoused people in a city with unaffordable housing. Talk about not being able to see the forest for the trees.
Nobody should accumulate that much wealth. The system is grossly unbalanced.
You want everyone to be equally poor?
Another narcissistic CEO who thinks he can solve civic problems. "We should enforce our laws." Oh gosh - no one else ever thought of that! He's a genius!
Another gold rush - as in a few people get rich and the rest get crushed?
Work harder... do expect others to hand you wealth
I'm fine, it's just historically the gold rush meant that a few got rich and many got stuck in the mines working for next to nothing.@@userjoe4321
There are six empty homes for every homeless person in SF.
No there aren’t!
Dreamforce has already made several moves to relocate in the near future. It’s all over our local news here in California.
This guy makes so much money off of fear. Listening to him stoke it on AI while pocketing so much cash just burns my ears. 🇬🇧
Nobody calls it San Fran
2:29 "we have other issues too" oh, like root issues? Like horrible and gross wealth inequality and the greedy ultra wealthy stopping our representatives from enacting any sort of spending to rehabilitate and house people? "Not in my billionaire/millionaire backyard, not with the wealth I've siphoned off exploited workers". The "problem" of homelessness starts at the ultra wealthy paying their proportionate share and for our representatives to actually represents regular people, like those who are unhoused or suffering from addiction, instead of just themselves, corporations, and their wealthy donors.
Every generation has unfortunate people hit by economic unfairness. Empowering solutions are not hard, there just needs to be a WILL to fix it! Greed and Denial are the reason the problems escalate.
If billionaire boy hear don’t feel confident, who should? This man is reaping millions from this fear and is either unethical or just stupid. I’m going with both. 🇬🇧
Salesforce is the worst CRM. Tell your company to consider better oroducts.
3:10 Wow I see how comfortable MSNBC is in showing how corporate this station is.
Money. Power. Politics.
I love " Her" was his most revealing statement.
May the force be with you
Good message I am CEO, I love remote work but employees need to make it work 😅
he blamed low earnings on remote work
So scary this man talking about AI whilst answering what could solve SF’s problems. What is he saying exactly? That workers should stay home and AI watch over what’s going on outside? Sounds like a Black Mirror episode I would so skip. 🇬🇧
Benioff “We have a homeless problem “
Also, Benioff “Companies just don’t need as much real estate anymore.” 🧐
Benioff ruined the ending of Game Thrones. Unforgivable. 😜
2:08. He is wrong and he knows it. Homelessness is just a symptom of the intense selfish greed in that City. Don't treat the symptoms treat the problem.
God bless Benioff for telling S.F. to get it together
anyone feel Benioff's answers seemed like a campaign speech? or find the interview suggestive of a potential mayoral run in 2028
This is not how gold rushes work. Everyone thinks AI is the next big thing. Even if that's true dividing up that pie with "everyone" means everyone gets crumbs. The only way to make serious money in the next big thing is by seeing it before everyone else does too.
Well, you could have found a far more interesting subject to interview in SF.
People who want the police to solve all their problems dont deserve a solution to any of their problems
FYI, nobody in or near the city says "San Fran."
This man is not a movie reviewer. And he could point to only one AI movie not scary? That’s scary to me. 🇬🇧
For a guy with so much power, he seems to dump all problem responsibilities upon elected officials.. he doesn’t seem to offer any solutions! Sot sold!
Actually, he's very philanthropic donating money to build a children's hospital here in SF along with donating tens of millions to education and homelessness
Tech ruined San Francisco. At least I don’t have to drive six hours from LA to see friends anymore. Most of them moved down here after they were Ellis Act evicted. Thanks, Google!
I'VE WORKED IN IT FOR 35 YEARS NOW - I still go into the office 5 days a week (sometimes on weekends). I get so much more work done in the office than working from home. I even came into the office and datacenters 5 days a week during the Pandemic. Been promoted twice in the last 4 years for not complaining and just getting the work done.
😅😅😅
I assume you have no kids.
I may be confused but if you want to see a woman disappear, have her work from home...1st...
The reporter has serious drinking problem and she does a terrible job of hiding it.
the sketch was always there in SF, the nerds crying about it all the time is the only thing thats changed
This reporter did a great job keeping him in check. You can’t sprinkle magic on everything and she was quick to remind him
Elen musk and the tech ceo need make there own Tech city.
Hilarious that a New York anchor has the audacity to speak about a dirty city. She clearly never walks the streets of New York.
Sales people need to be in an office to do their job?
Salesforce is a tech company focused on software, cloud computing and artificial intelligence
Pretty much all the higher paid ppl can stay home all the low income workers still need to show up n risk their safety for minimum wage smh this guys a clown
Typical billionaire talking about square footage of commercial space leased to AI. They would lease to Godzilla I bet too. 🇬🇧
He forgot I, Robot
So your solution to a decades long homelessness problem in this city is to increase the police force - yah we should keep letting the rich dictate how to govern for the good of the people 🙄
We must....lol this group of people could easily fix homelessness in a couple days with their money.
I love how his solution to solve homelessness are :
- enforce laws
- add more cops
Brilliantly inhumane 😂👏
But the special places the world comes to see, is usually filled wIth tents and no-porta potties. Don’t forget!!!!!!OAKLAND …..!!!!!
Another empty account that doesn't have clue about America and it's internal workings commenting from another country. 😂🙄
Melinall Man. Robyn Williams. Watch the movie.
every democrat voter asked for this...
Defund the police worked out well for you?!
4th Genneration sf .... Ok, you just got some Clout ~ ill think about that every night when I look at that Tower ~ we enjoy the light show...
I appreciate hard hitting questions, but this interviewer was just going for the annoying cheap gotcha questions. This interview could have been much more informative.
I'm starting to think SF would be a great candidate for a 15 minute city. It can't be any worse then it is now.
This woman looks drunk
I have more faith AI will be ethical then the people who program it. Just look at the GOP to decide. 😂😂😂🇬🇧
Yeah, I would be trying to work from home if I lived in San Francisco as well. As far as the problem solving from home, I would be happy I'm not stepping in feces and or on used syringes all over the place. So that's another problem solved by working at home.
I worked downtown SF for 30 years until COVID. It's a beautiful city. The media makes it sound worse than it is. I took the ferry to work every day. Absolutely gorgeous trip. Never saw syringes or feces.
bobby doesn't live in America.
He is describing exaggerated propaganda that's bandied about by his misinformed fellow propagandists.
Or the trailer park that he resides in.
@@gailflanagan1214- stop lying. It’s an absolute wreck right now.

Defund the police
