    If at all possible, a Lightburn file for the D1 Pro 20Watt file for cutting and engraving showing the output for better results and less time and material loss. Have tried several Esty test files from different vendors but not really ones in lightburn for the 20 watt. Have purchased almost all of your files from Esty. And the majority are top notch from what you can control when a XTool doesn’t change machine tolerances, like for your alignment jig sets. Please advise and look forward to purchasing it from Esty as soon as possible due to the holiday gift giving. Regards, Dennis

      Best settings is very dependent on your setup. Material, air assist setup and the moisture content of the material all play a role in the outcome. If I made a list, I could not be sure they would always be best. My advise is to test different settings and find what you like.

      I will say this, cutting wood it is much faster than my 10 watt. What took 4 passes before only takes 1 now. If you aren't worried about time, the 10 watt can do most of what the 20 can. I have cut 1/2 inch pine with the 20. My issue is on bulk orders, time is money.

    I took the risk to support Elegoos PHECDA. Currently i took the 10-Watt Model as reward. Does anybody think 20-Watt are better for cutting wood? Some people say a good air assist is more important. Yes that's true, but are am able to cut thicker wood with the more powerful laser?

    • @TheClackShack
      @TheClackShack  Год назад

      Air assist is important for cutting regardless of the output. More output does help cut faster but it can be done with lower power output and more passes.

    • @indiumgalliumnitride5492
      @indiumgalliumnitride5492 Год назад

      @@TheClackShack Thx! So with the more powerfull laser i can cut faster but the maximum thickness will not increase with a more powerfull laser? The focal length of the 20W ist a little bit better than of the 10W of the Elegoo PHECDA, so maybe the power/area is better over the whole thickness with the 20W?

    • @TheClackShack
      @TheClackShack  Год назад

      @@indiumgalliumnitride5492 you can get a slight increase in thickness but the biggest difference is the speed and number of passes needed. Anything over 1/2 inch thick is unreasonable to be cutting with a laser. It can be done but just not practical.

    • @indiumgalliumnitride5492
      @indiumgalliumnitride5492 Год назад

      @@TheClackShack I already assume that a diode laser is an entry-level laser if you want to cut wood with it.
      I just hope, that's "easy" possible to cut 5mm (0.2 inch). My maximum would be up to 9mm (0.35 inch) of typical plywood/multiplex and for the 9mm i assume that i have to use plywood consisting of softwood like pine?
      If that is possible with patience, i would take a 10W and take saved money for a better air assist. Usually i would cut up to 5mm plywood. The case of up to 9mm could be in rare case, but hopfully it's possible if i have patience for the long cutting time and a lot of tests (ideal position of focal point speed etc.)
      I think if i'm really disapointed with a 10W laser also a 20W lase will not satisfy my need. Maybe then i have to buy a more expansive CO2-laser.
      Thx for your answers!

    So I am going to get an Xtool, but I am so confused about whether to get the 10 or 20 watt...I know as a beginner the 10 watt would probably be fine. However, I also own a CNC router, and I bought an advanced machine and am glad I did, because I want to do things a baby CNC would not do. I am NOT sure yet what I want to do with the Xtool. Thus, I am also thinking I may as well get the 20, but do you think I will have more of a learning curve on it? Please, ANYONE who has gone through this decision making, chime in!!!
