Airstream remodel with custom couch

  • It was time to make some changes to the main "living room" of the Airstream. The big change we made was to remove the pull-out sofa-bed and replace it with custom couch, actually bench seating with storage. By removing the sofa and starting from scratch, we were able to also reorganize all of the solar power electronics (solar charger, converter, inverter) and six Battleborn batteries that were underneath the sofa, into a more compact arrangement. After we peeled away the original mouse fur away from the walls, we decided to replace the aluminum that was underneath.

    Thanks for posting a video for us. I’m sure it’s very hard with three little kids to look after at the same time. I had three little kids so I can’t imagine being able to do something like this. Good job and I love Linden‘s haircut.

    Can't wait to see the new living room. It looks amazing so far. Have you thought about making the back bedroom into a bunk room/play area for the 3 girls? Their current bunk area could be converted to a desk/craft area, plus storage for adult clothing, etc., and Mom and Dad could have the living room as their sleeping area. Just a thought. I love the aluminum walls!

    • @ThreeLittleTrees

      We were just talking about that very same idea of making the back into a triple bunk! Would be a big project but also our family probably won’t fit in the current layout for too much longer. 💙❤️💚

    Yaaaay, did you read my mind? I thought it would be the perfect Sunday if you would upload today just about 30 minutes ago!
    OK, I finished watching. 🙂
    Now that you made the covers for your sofa yourself, you know what it takes to make *exactly* fitting ones for paying customers out of whatever material they ask for. And multiple ones that are exactly the same.
    And why custom made is pricey.
    My hobby is sewing and I'm my harshest critic. I'm one of those who sew a seam in 4 seconds, don't like it, open it up again for an hour just to sew a new one in 5 seconds. 🤦🏻‍♀️
    But it's my personal high standards, my hubby won't even see, what's wrong. 😂
    And I don't sell my pieces. I want to be comfortable with the work I'm gifting to friends and family, colleagues etc.
    I never make exactly the same piece twice.
    OMG does anybody remember the McDonals commercial with the kid and the haircut? 😂😱🥳😳🤪
    At least Linden is honest right away. Very charming!
    I hope you are all healthy!
    Greetings from Germany 👋👋

      Sewing is pretty hard!! But very rewarding I must say. Also calming - after I get in the zone. And yes I see why custom upholstery costs so much! I don’t remember the McDonald’s commercial I don’t think… what happened? Thanks for being with us for our adventures 🥰

      I can't find the commercial anywhere. 🙄
      What I remember:
      It showed a mom and a daughter. The daughter asked, when they are fiiinally going to MD. The mom said: first we go to the hairdresser, then to MD.
      Next you see the girl with a horrible hairdo and scissors in her hand: We can go NOW! she says.
      This commercial brought trouble into my country, a lot of parent were not amused!
      A friend of mine took her daughter (with a self-made haircut 🤦🏻‍♀️) to MD and said to the manager: this should be worth a free kids meal! (She was sooo mad).

    You should consider locks for love next time you have that much hair. Our youngest grandson did not get his 1st haircut until he was 4 1/2 years old and he did that. Funny how dramatic that is for some kids.

    • @ThreeLittleTrees
      @ThreeLittleTrees  2 года назад

      We have actually never monetized our channel. We’d rather folks are able to watch our videos without any ads. We do have a Patreon though.

    • @myfairladyj325
      @myfairladyj325 2 года назад +1

      I know how much time and energy it take to create like you do. And with a family 😅 Some folks do both monetizing and Patreon. I don’t think it’s selfish or unkind of you to get paid for your hard work through YT, even if it means a few commercials for your audience. I’m not sure how much time one of your videos takes, but most of mine are at least 40 hours of recording/editing. I have two YT channels but stopped creating content because it was too hard to squeeze it in with our other family priorities. Then YT changed some monetizing rules so one hit wonders couldn’t cash in anymore. Pretty sure you qualify though. That’s just my personal journey and opinions. This can be, and is a primary source of income for many folks who create regular content. I can appreciate if that’s not a huge motivator for your family though. I do enjoy your content. We are renovating a 71 Airstream right now. No video documenting for me… just going to get the renovation done. I’m always hunting this platform for other Airstream stories. Have fun!

    • @ThreeLittleTrees
      @ThreeLittleTrees  2 года назад

      It’s amazing how much work renovating an Airstream can be all by itself. And then trying to film and document the renovation process on top of it felt like it was just too much and would slow the work down. I’m always impressed by those who can manage both.
