Greetings! Is it possible for a cockatiel to diabetic from birth? One of my boys has always had polyurea and we can't seem to find the cause. He's over 5 years old now and slowly becoming more lethargic and showing mild some neurological signs. My vet suspects chronic metal poisoning but it doesn't align with him being like this as a young baby in an appropriate cage and diet.
My conure is 2 and has been exactly as you described. After all this time, he was finally tested (has been to the vet SEVERAL times in his short life), and diagnosed with diabetes. I wish I had pushed harder to have him tested for it sooner (when asked, I was told it was unlikely the cause). Get your baby tested if you haven't already. Good luck!
@@CarLene1 Yeah I also had my borb tested. So far they haven't found diabetes. They think he has some gut imbalance or something : / Hopefully... your conure will be fine!
Poor Larry, I’d be cross too. I’m glad he is your wonderful Avian vet clinic. Hope he’s feeling better soon.
Larry.❤
