"Getting Kyrie involved"...? He is involved. He has shot 18/19 shots a game. This isn't the OkC series where he only had 6 shots in a game. Actually, it might help Dallas if he did only have 6 shots a game if he is going to hold the ball, waste clock and shoot 35%.
The Lakers offered what they could afford and hoped that all the ancillary benefits (living in LA like a celeb, raising profile, massive bankable notoriety) would make up for the lower direct $$$. Why drag them? Hurley has an amazing job, is on the verge of making history, and all of that will have future value. That’s hard to beat anyway.
