My first brake job was on my Alfa 156 SW - they told me then, not to do emergency braking for at least 500 Km - but to brake in the rotors and pads on a steep downhill road with multiple slow-downs. Rotors and pads were Ate, and they did do a good job after the "treatment"!
Reminds me the time I changed my pads...the pins holding the pads to the calipers were a royal pain in the butt to get out...so I cut them and got them replaced....changed the pads from Brembo(very dusty) to Ferodo.Nice content btw .
Thx, there is a ton I want to do but I am limited in time and budget haha. There is a new set of wheels on the way which I will combine with lowered springs, and then there is room for more power I guess 🤔
i dont mean to be so off topic but does any of you know a way to get back into an Instagram account? I stupidly lost the password. I love any assistance you can give me
@Emmitt Cairo thanks for your reply. I found the site on google and I'm in the hacking process now. Takes quite some time so I will get back to you later with my results.
Did you bed them in according to instructions? Also when you removed the disc it looked wet on the hub, like oil or grease, perhaps a leaking or holed CV boot?
I was looking at Brembo Xtra discs for my Audi S5, but comparing prices with other performance discs like EBC, MTEC, Kinetix etc, they are more expensive, and thought Brembo was a premium brand, so expected the prices, BUT looking at the discs in your video the cross drilling (perforations) haven't been done correctly and a lot of them are into the vanes/vents so a closed hole. When correctly drilled, they should be in between the vanes so the hole is open on the otherside! This has put me off these discs! I only wanted the holes for aesthetics/looks, but this looks more like a budget cross drilled disc and not correctly designed! Half of the holes are more like dimples like the EBC grooved and dimpled, not proper drilled discs in my opinion. I would save the extra money from the XTRA disc, get OE discs and put the saved money towards performance pads. There will be more benefit.
Very good comment, thanks. I was thinking about ebc or tarox as well, because on my last Nürburgring Video, the brembos started to fade very early. Of course that has to do with stock brake lines and non racing brake fluid as well, but the xtras are clearly not designed for track.
@@itsaboutcarsyt Brake lines like stainless steel braided lines are for pedal feel and won't prevent fade or improve performance. A good brand of brake fluid is all you need and change it after heavy track use as the heat degrades the fluid. If the fluid is old, then it will give fade or a spongey pedal at a lower temperature. I used to do a lot of trackdays I had a big brake 2 piece cross drilled kit, but after a trackday, I got cracks around the holes and the disc actually split on an outer hole. So be careful using drilled discs on track. Small cars like the Mito will be better because of the weight of the car with drilled, but still can be affected by cracking. Don't worry though, the disc won't fail, but may need replacing. I would recommend EBC USR discs and Yellowstuff pads or Ferrodo DS2500 if you take your daily driver on the Ring. It's mainly all about the pads than fancy designed discs :)
@@davewilliams7565 yeah I heard that pads must be more important than the disc itself. I will consider the fact that the fluid may have a larger impact on performance than the steel lines alone. Interestingly everybody I talk to has a very different opinion on these things. So I guess all I can do is try it for myself. Guess what we all need is a straight forward which-upgrade-does-exactly-what-on-track video series haha
@@itsaboutcarsyt The pads are far more important than the discs. As for the comment on the drilling not being done correctly, it's intentional, they are dimples not full drill holes. Brembo did it for strength as drilled discs always have stress cracks, and it's important to note the minimum thickness on the drilled version is slightly more than the grooved version which has the same minimum spec as a standard disc. For pads look at Ferodo DS2500 or something similar, much higher temp range.
@@itsaboutcarsyt Yeah, brakes are very subjective and personal opinion! Research on the internet, pick your poison and hope the setup is good for you. :)
Hi thanks for the video! I was wondering if the brembo xtra are road legal in Germany. I failed the TUV in my mini cooper S as I need to replace brake disk and pads. This will work fine right? thanks!
Hi, die Xtra haben eine Zulassung mit ECE R 90 und sind eintragungsfrei :) - The Xtra Disks are road legal and don't require any additional checkup for the TUV
@@itsaboutcarsyt Thank you for that information. I have a USA 500 Abarth with what I think are either 281mm or 284mm discs and I desperately want upgraded calipers that will fit with the stock disc diameter. All brake brake upgrades I have seen in USA involve going to a larger disc which I want to avoid.
@@zapwatt well probably the brembo system calipers I have would fit your car, together with bigger discs. But I understand that you want to avoid this, would mean a lot of time and money to invest
How much did you pay for set, discs and pads ? Will change my next month, will go with zimmermann discs and ate pads, found them on autodoc.de for good price.
The Disks only in front are 160€ for the Quadrifoglio. Honestly not a fan of the mentioned website, takes ages for them to deliver. There is Alfa Romeo dedicated websites that are faster. The standard Brembo pads in front are 50€, there is a performance version for a lot more, but I didn't go for those. :)
Hello, i purchased a set of Brembo Xtra rotors for my giulietta and Brembo Xtra pads. What is the correct procedure of bedding them in? Some say I should drive normal and use low-medium pressure to brakes for 200 miles, others say i need to do 10 progresive brakes from 60 to 10mph as soon as i installed them. I don t know which one is the right way. What do you recommend? Thanks
Hey there. So I usually go for the first recommended procedure, defensive driving and avoiding any high pressure resulting in a lot of heat. However I am not an expert and the other method is something I never heard before but could make sense as well. If you want to be extra sure call Brembo customer service and tell us in the comments 😅
Let me understand: you changed disk and tablet and didn't do the settlement before the strong frenagenas? Efficiency was not 100% as the discs and pads need to settle.
No, at 01:30 and later in the conclusion I said that the installment has been one and a half months before the tests. Clearly no one should do emergency braking with new disks for the first let's say 500km 😅 (unless you have to to prevent accidents of course)
WARNING I have Brembo XTRA discbrakes and pads on my Golf. The pads are 1mm too big and therefore they make a clonk sound when driving over bumps. Brembo have NO COSTUMER service. I like the pads, but I would not recomend to buy from this brand. Buy from TRV instead. They do no care about you
@@itsaboutcarsyt Yeah, the discs are really cool and is very good quality. The pads? HELL NO!!! I love the discs, but it's not worth the trouble of buying them, installing them, having loud knocking noises to only find out its because its a bad product. Looks awesome though. And sweet mito you've got!

There is 2 variants. The QV and 140tct multiair have 305mm discs. Other Mitos run on 281mm. Both can be bought as Brembo "Xtra"s.
