Coralines head image in the garden went from having blue hair to having red hair. Also went from looking alive to looking dead. And I have so many questions about why Wybies grandma has that dool, knows it looks like Coraline, knows so much about what's going, yet allows a family with a kid to move in. It's like it was time for the Beldame to feed and she allowed it
I saw a theory somewhere that his grandma probably let Coraline’s family to move in because if she didn’t, the bedlam would’ve eventually taken Wylie instead. I don’t remember the details of that theory, but it might be interesting to do research on it:)
I actually never thought the garden at the end looked like Coraline. I thought it looked like the Beldam in her more grostesque/spider form, which would further prove out your theory about this not being the real world.

Happy to have been on the Coraline journey with you. I've noticed that the Beldam and Karl from the chillogy episodes of the goosebumps tv episodes have it in common that they both have magic powers and like to get kids under their power.
I FINALLY FIGURED OUT WHY THE BUTTON TAPPING IS THE ULTIMATE CLUE! The button tapping represents the timer. The button represents the button in the sky, the tapping is like a timer, and when Coraline looks to see her other mother tapping is now the sink dripping showing. That coraline curiosity is what powers the world and moon. Coraline wondering the dark wouldn’t move the clock but Coraline moving and fiddling be curious does move the clock which is why it stops when she gives up. The other mother doesn’t play nice, but she plays by the rules. Side note: I think the other mother like what the theorizer said, is the OG owner of the pink palace. She used her eyes to power the place. Her powers are seeping out of the world after Whybie opens the well. May explain the blooming flowers at the orchard.
The fangirl question what do you think a Coraline sequel would look like? Do you think the other mother is still alive at the end of the movie, plotting revenge on Coraline, Wybie, and the cat?
Ok, I had to go back and rewatch Whybie's introduction scene to compare the well lids. 😅 For some reason, I was thinking the well lid in Whybie's first scene was a rectangle, while the lid in this scene is very clearly a sewen up button eye, but upon watching again the two lids do look the same, I guess it was just the dirt around it that made it look rectangular the first time we see it. I know the movie and book are different, but in the book, the Beldame never made the well while Coraline was out walking around with the cat.
Hi, can you maybe explore these video ideas? Is The Beldam a narcissist and is Frollo a narcissist? I enjoyed your other videos on that topic. Also I subscribed. Thank you.
What time of night is this scene in? Coraline went to bed, but Wybie's grandma was ringing a dinner bell? I guess she might have gone to bed early, or Wybie's grandma has dinner really late, but it's all weird, and I guess more evidence of the odd timing mechanisms of the other world.
One thing that I thought when you mentioned how she feasts on the love & the affection of a child (Coraline) ; Its worth noting that in the other world when she's trapped and cant go back through the door because the Other Mother barracades it off, Coraline is left scavenging a way out herself when she runs into the other father quoting "Her strength is O u r strength" who's to say its not vice versa? The other puppeted neighbors/father's strength is hers too? The love and affection Coraline coveted to these made up people could have been transfered through to her as well, that could be why she never eats because her hunger is always satiated by the Other Father, Wybie, and neighbors. She's feeding off the love and energy of her puppets, that could also be why when they all start turning. . Its because when Coraline 180's her energy finding out the Other Mother's intentions into hate, that could make the world rot and turn into something nasty, whereas the Joy and happiness they feed her keeps the world content and feasible. Coraline could have corrupted the other world with the opposite of love but agression is another theory. So when we dive into the limbo theory, Coveting, cherishing and loving these limbo neighbors & parents, it could be possible that the Beldam/Other Mother in a way still has won because coraline believes they're the real deal and its just the Other Mother biding her time with gaining trust and love to recover.
@13:47 :No way the garden was already shaped that way", unless you go with the theory that the Beldame was the wife of the original owner, who built that house for HER and that Coraline is somehow descended from the Beldame's family to begin with. Or, she never made it to the Pink Palace to begin with and this is all a coma dream (limbo) after being in the car when Mel had the wreck. Sorry, I'm a writer by habit, I tend to overanalyze myself sometimes.
I watched you back in 2017 your one of my orginal favorite RUclipsrs I haven't watched you in a few years so its good to be back. also you are so CREATIVE these theories are so fun and addicting! also do you think you could do like your own theorize video on what a Coraline part 2 would be about if your theories are correct which I think they most definitely are. I know you did a brief part in a video on corrline realizing shes trapped and decided to take up rock collecting and begins to find clues that its not the real world, basicly another theory video like that but a but longer as I theory enjoyed the last one
Here’s what I think after watching through all the videos. I think that the other mother is a dark fairy of some sort(the mushroom surrounded well), which gives her the ability to either use animals(the mice and possibly the cat) or (Voodoo) dolls to monitor Coraline in all dimensions. And here’s another theory that wybie’s grandma made a deal with the other mother to have some sort of surveillance over the original pink palace to take other kids in exchange for wybie since she’s the one with knowledge of the coraline doll at the beginning of the movie.
I believe the beldam's hand going after Coraline wasn't a staged scene. I agree she feeds on love, and thus, she wants and/or needs Coraline. The way that hand attacked her doesn't make sense with these things in mind. It made a noose around her neck that could have asphyxiated her or broken her neck when it dragged her. I don't think even for the horse and pony show the beldam is running to trick Coraline, that she would risk her meal like that. This makes me lean towards this being genuine desperation of losing that key. Crazy alternate theory: What if the black cat works for Wybie's grandmother? Maybe she made a deal with this being after her sister was taken? But the cat itself isn't strong enough to fight the beldam, so it has to resort to messing with her plans. I have nothing much to back this theory, other than some of my evidence that the cat isn't controlled by the beldam, I just thought it was a fun idea.
Little Nightmares and this movie/book actually have very similar plots. Coraline and Six are both dropped into another world, for Coraline it's the other world and for Six its the Maw (Main difference is that Six isn't in an actual other world but the Maw is essentially a submarine that goes under the water so it can be compared to another world.) Coraline and Six are both chased by monsters (though they're disguised in Coraline at first) who are helping to feed children to a power hungry matriarch. For Coraline it's the Beldam and for Six it's The Lady. Both main antagonist have supernatural powers and both their power seems to come from feeding off the life force of children. Also, the Maw is surrounded with eyes that The Lady uses to spy on people and eyes are an important part of Coraline.
okay, so, I haven't watched your coraline videos in ages, but after watching this i decided to go back and watch this scene by scene series. You made a point in this video that it was odd that the garden had the visage of coraline and that it could be the beldam's magical manipulation in the limbo pink palace, but I just watched episode/scene 2 of this series and it does seem to show that the garden looks similar to coraline even in the real world. I've always assumed it was supposed to be in the shape of the beldam's face (it's a bit slimmer than coraline's, more like the skeletal beldam and less like the much more round garden the beldam shows coraline in the other world), but also I haven't watched theories on this movie in ages so I could be just misremembering things/making assumptions without evidence. I just wanted to point that out, but these videos are so fun! I'll definitely need to do a re-watch of all your coraline theories + finish this scene series!
I have a counter-theory. What if the beldame does have power over the real world not entirely, but maybe she can just manipulate objects slightly like with the squid and the radiator and of course Orchard rather than it being a limbo, dimension using slight subliminal messaging? And with the Apple orchard, perhaps the beldame was draining the energy for the Apple trees for so long that when she, and if he started to drain after losing Coraline they would be able to spring up regardless of the season? PS I Hope this is not poorly worded. I’m a little tired while writing this. I just wanted to get it out there since this is the last video.❤
Just recently come across your channel with your videos on Coraline, and I rather enjoy them~ 🙂 I don't know if you'll see this but something came to mind as I watched this one and remembering something mentioned in the last one too. You pointed out the Beldam eye tapping from a comment seen last video, and mentioned that this version of Mel Jones could be the Beldam too, if not a puppet version. What if she tapped her eye giving a hint that she doesn't always appear with button eyes, especially if she was hiding to seem like the REAL Mel Jones in the Limbo Pink Palace?
If the beldam only feeds from the childrens' love, why bother sewing buttons in the other children's eyes before eating away their lifes? And with Coraline?
I think him having tongs wasn’t out of the normal cause he has them when he’s messing with those slugs so maybe he just carries them maybe they’re on his bike
However, I have been thinking about the whole idea crafted by the ghost children and the Beldame, that the Beldame can only get what she wants from the victim if she gets permission to sew buttons into their eyes and then she's free to stop caring and store and eat up their lives, which goes against the theory that Coraline never left the other world in the end and that the Beldame feeds on the victim's love theory, but what if it doesn't, because the whole idea of needing Coraline to have buttons sewed in for eyes isn't true from the beginning? If the theory that the Beldame feeds on their loving energy or something is true, then maybe the souring of the button world, was all a big manipulative plan to get Coraline to truly love and appreciate her world and mother, after Coraline said no to the buttons for eyes...but in actuality it's the other world and now the Beldame has access to her true love and appreciation. Perhaps the buttons for eyes proposition wasn't so much as a binding promise, but a test of the children's love for her/how much power she has over them, and when Coraline failed that test, the Beldame decided to come up with plan B and trick her into thinking the Beldame is her mother and she's in a happier, more loving version of her world, therefore getting what she needs from Coraline. Decline the Beldame's offer of button eyes and a lifetime with her, and she gives you a manipulative, yet seemingly loving world to keep getting your love, but accept her cruelty in the name of your love for her, and she traps you forever, casting you aside because she knows she can do nothing and you will still love her until she eats up every bit of love in you....hmmm also kinda sounds like a toxic, narcissistic mother who treats her children differently based on the amount of the power they let her have over them, because all she cares about is herself and what she needs from them. I think if you look at the movie in the way I just explained the video's theories fit...but the cat not being able to talk in the end doesn't fit, or does it? If theory that Coraline never left the other world in the end is true, then it is very possible for the Beldame to make a lifelike cat puppet (meaning normal cat eyes), perhaps the distinction of the other world being so because of the buttons was all a manipulation in case Coraline failed the test, so that the Beldame could switch to plan B. But idk, it's just a theory, a film theory, lol.
in regards to other mother tapping her eyes. This was after Coraline asked for a hint about her parents. What if the other mother had consumed them somehow? Or has their aouls inside her? Im not sure how but in regards to the doll of the parents, perhaps while she was lurkng coraline she had a separate lure for the parents?
What is a child moved into the pink palace and they didnt have a mother? Like they only have a single father or even two gay fathers. Could the bedlam become a man? What if they don’t have any parents at all for example a crush buys the building and sets up and orphanage? Does the bedlam just become a nun? So many possibilities Also I think you should analyze Willy wonka and the chocolate factory, the Tim Burton remake and the new prequel I’d love to see your take on it and any theories you make about it
I was watching a video about the cat, and I came up with this theory, enjoy. What if the cat is a puppet? Before Coraline goes through the door the first time, it acts weird, but maybe its just a weird cat. But it doesn't "help" her until she goes through the door. The Beldam obviously know how to make real eyes. The Beldam would have used real eye on it to make Coraline think she had someone to trust and answer her questions. Coraline would never know the difference, because she couldn't talk to the cat before, therefore she could easily be deceived by the cat. If the beldam used Wybie, it wouldn't have worked, as Coraline would know something is off with him.
Just a little something I noticed but it's also entirely possible my eyes were playing tricks on me, if you really squint at the few seconds Wybie is on screen during the garden party it kinda looks like he has bandages where the beldam hand got him, does anyone else see that or is it just me?
this has been one of my all time favourite youtube series ever 🥹💞 thank you so much for all the effort and love you put into analysing this incredible movie - I’m going to watch it when it’s back in cinemas for the 15th anniversary, can’t wait to rewatch with all the new knowledge I’ve picked up! 💓
I really like your theory about what the beldam eats, but I have one problem with it. if the beldam eats love than why did she try to kill Coraline (like in the garden when she was trying to find the eyes) I've been wondering about it for a while and hope you can answer, I love your theories and videos.
It's kind of a cat and mouse game, in my opinion. I don't think the Beldam would actually have hurt Coraline, but she needed to make Coraline so afraid that she'd never open the tiny door again (because Coraline locks herself into the Limbo Pink Palace that looks like the real world, but isn't). And the buttons blind the children and make the Beldam's work easier, because she doesn't have to generate the surrounding any longer. Coraline could be existing in the white void and only THINK everything was awesome all the time if she was blinded and had her eyes taken.
I just had this thought, what if Mrs. Lovat isn’t a twin. Before Coraline goes into the other world Wybie just says that the doll came from his grandmas trunk. But I don’t think it’s ever mentioned outright that it was her sisters until after Coraline goes into the other World. So mrs Lovat could be the “little rascals chick” who the Beldam is still keeping alive but now that’s she’s older it’s time for a new kid
To make her think that she is no longer in danger. If she just throw away the key casually, how does she know that she is safe? Even though Beldam is "defeated", the ghost still mentioned that Beldam will search for the key. Throwing away the key without any "problem" could make Coraline second guessing herself later whether Beldam would come to her or not. Meanwhile, attacking Coraline before she throws the key proves to Coraline that Beldam is really going for the key, and making Coraline defeats her again will further reinforce Coraline that she is safe for once at all in this (what she thought) real world. Just like what Beldam planned.
I've had a theory about both the other mother and the other world for a long time, I believe the other world, wonderland, and Oz are all the same place and that the red queen, Glenda the Good witch, and the other mother are all the same entity.
@TheFangirlWatches i just started to watch ur vids i watch secene 35 and this vid in my tv and a lot of the lore of coraline but idk know if u know that on the cake that she gets in the other mothers world aka the other world as a double loop in the word home but not the word welcome a double loop in a O means the person thats writeing it is lying witch means shes not really home but she is welcome.

We really do need a sequel to coraline! And maybe even a prequel too so we find out how everything came to be especially other mother.

Them re - covering the well is a lot like how the shadow cast across the moon when coraline got the last eyeball

Thank you.
Have I really not talked about the Beldam being a narcissistic mother as it's own video yet?! I'll have to work on fixing that!

😆🥲😣🥲😣🥲🥲
made it all the way through ! :3
Wooh! Thank you so much for going on the journey with me!

The buttons aren't real. It's all deceit.
Does anybody noticed a patches with stars on Coraline's pj? They look like a sweater she got from other mother. Is she still in other world?
What is a child moved into the pink palace and they didnt have a mother? Like they only have a single father or even two gay fathers. Could the bedlam become a man? What if they don’t have any parents at all for example a crush buys the building and sets up and orphanage? Does the bedlam just become a nun? So many possibilities

I really like your theory about what the beldam eats, but I have one problem with it. if the beldam eats love than why did she try to kill Coraline (like in the garden when she was trying to find the eyes) I've been wondering about it for a while and hope you can answer, I love your theories and videos.
And also, if she only eats love, why bother sewing buttons in the other children's eyes before eating away their lifes?
@@Lopeznunez2230 yes that's true

Anyone ever found a world map for Coraline? Like a real map, I wanted to know how far is the well.
I don't believe Laika ever put out anything official.
wold Coralines mum and dad didn’t told Coraline the truth about the accident she had in the car crash and blamed Coraline for talking to her
why would the hand act shocked if coraline couldn't see it
I don’t think the missing child is manipulated Coraline they did say that the beldom is manipulated the ghost chudren
None of this explaines why the hand tried to stop coraline from getting rid of the key. Why not just coraline throw it away?
To make her think that she is no longer in danger. If she just throw away the key casually, how does she know that she is safe? Even though Beldam is "defeated", the ghost still mentioned that Beldam will search for the key. Throwing away the key without any "problem" could make Coraline second guessing herself later whether Beldam would come to her or not.
Meanwhile, attacking Coraline before she throws the key proves to Coraline that Beldam is really going for the key, and making Coraline defeats her again will further reinforce Coraline that she is safe for once at all in this (what she thought) real world. Just like what Beldam planned.
^ What he said. Coraline has to be too afraid to ever want to open the little door again.
