How would you grade that wheat penny? I used an app to check my wheat Pennie’s and they all came up as Very Fine and I know they can’t be. A couple of my wheat Pennie’s showed up as up $12,000 but that’s in Very fine condition. And I only checked out one roll of Pennie’s so far!
@@buck7477 I don't know which wheat penny you are asking about. The truth is I don't try to grade them other than recognizing that one is in very good shape or very poor. I liked your idea of putting 154 pennies in a baggie as a pound of copper. Do you have ideas for nickels? Should I save ALL nickels? Or just certain date ranges plus silver of course?
Certainly the silver, at the moment nickels are just barely over 5 cents each in value. I think if the price should start going up, you would have plenty of time to buy them up. Pennies being nearly 2.5 cents each in value, plus the newest one you can find is 1983, I would concentrate more on the U. S. cents personally. I only keep the nickels 1959 and older as you have probably seen in my videos. So, I'm hoarding, but I'm also collecting.
Do you check your 2009s? I heard that there are some in circulation that were minted for sets that were made in the original metal composition and the ones meant for circulation are the zinc ones.
Also, a minor correction for you. The 2009s in TOTAL were minted in the same amount as years prior and after. It is when you break it down into each design per mint that the numbers are "less than " the other mint years.
