I just heard Asia singing a few seconds of the sax part of the greatest yacht rock song, Gerry Rafferty's Baker Street, and her voice is oh so beautiful. Powerful, yet soothing at the same time. Perfect. Good for you, BJ.
I remember the 90s version. Think it came out my first year of high school. I remember the Spanish loving it. Me, my family, and my extended family went to spain when the song released. When i hear it, all i can picture is walking around the market and all the Spanish folk working on the stalls singing and dancing to it while it was blasting out of a stereo.😂
LOL this song, so fun to dance to at dances. Fast paced and energetic, haha shoot. Please listen to the original version as well. It's a country dance song lol.

The origins of the song "Cotton Eye Joe" are rooted in American folk music, specifically from the American South. The song dates back to the 1800s and was popularized during the era of American slavery and Blackface Minstrelsy in the late 1800s. The original lyrics of "Cotton Eye Joe" were racist and utilized harmful stereotypes about Black people. The song tells the story of a Black man who comes to town and steals people's wives, and no one knows where Cotton Eye Joe is except for the singer's dad, who apparently murdered Cotton Eye Joe for sleeping with the singer's mom. Over time, the song evolved and became a staple of American culture, particularly in square dance and line dance traditions. In 1994, the Swedish band Rednex released a popular dance version of the song, which further popularized it worldwide.
