These yellow toned roses are so stunningly pretty David, absolutely beautiful!!! Thank you so very much once again for sharing your teachings to us,still love the sound of your voice and the way you can make us all smile which brightens the day immeasurably ❤😊🤗
I am truly loving the Alla Prima videos David. You pack so much explanation into them I think I am beginning to see more from the beginning (as opposed to just the final stages). Thank you so much for helping me to open my eyes more. You are a fantastic teacher!
Wishing you all the very best for your birthday and the New Year. Your lessons have kept me inspired and sane during the madness of 2020 - I look forward to following your lessons in 2021.
happy belated birthday i just turned 61 aug 27th wow time flies .i love the way you say boom its cute.i say if its safe put your fingers in it.thank you for all your videos .im still in the habit of one stroke i want my own strokes .realistic is what im going to try .painting the beautiful rose is why i started painting 26 years ago
I love your paintings and love how you explain the steps. I learn more from you than any other artist. Have to order to place another order and get your paints and mediums. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. God bless.
Yeah thank you so much , I love watching your videos I’m learning so much , I just bought your set of paints and a bunch of your brushes can’t wait to get them 😊
Happy Birthday!!! I have to get real honest with you...you are brilliant! And, you crack me up! I can't tell you how many times I laughed out loud...loudly!😄 I feel you...it's so hard Not to use your fingers! Besides your entertainment value 😉, I learn so much every time I watch you. But, this time I think for me was even a more instructive video. I think it's because you slowed down a bit because of the open medium. I could (and will again when I rewatch this) see clearly how you put down your marks and the why and half tone colors of it all. You are a born INSTRUCTOR! You explain things so well that even a total novice like me can understand the why's and how's of it all. Plus, I can clearly see where I've been going wrong. Some of my favorite parts of your teachings is when you have a beautiful petal and you add just the slightest mark and it changes it completely...it's even more perfect. EVERY rose you paint looks different just like in nature. I love that your roses have so much life and vibrancy. And, I adore your soft (still full of life) impressionistic flowers. The rose that you added at the end, I like just as much as the queen. You really have taught me how to see a rose...they have so many faces and feels to them. I'm going to keep watching and practicing so one day my roses will all have their own personalities 😁. I have been painting some of your seascapes so I totally get what you were saying about that helping you paint a better rose. Really, every time I watch you, you help me with whatever I'm painting at the time. Have a Happy New Year David! I'm looking forward to watching more of you this coming year.😊🍾🌟🍾🌟🍾
Happy belated Birthday and Happy New Year!! This is fantastic. I might not live long enough to totally learn it, but golly I'm sure gonna try!! Thanks David Hope your wife and family are doing well.
Hi Dave first of all happy birthday 🥳 and Happy new year 🥳. Thank you for sharing this video it was really useful and good knowledge to share. Thank you Dave 🌹
Happy belated birthday! Love all of this 😍 so beautiful as always your teaching is fabulous. Kids helped me with web site. Not very good with mewe yet. Thank you sir love the reference of a bank. Mine's old and Dusty with cobwebs but I do try to remember. The way you used your hands in this particular video is how I have to stop and stare at people's faces. I look like I'm filming a movie. But I don't see the whole face so I have to center and try to find a part to follow and go around. However I do not ever see a person's whole face. I did love the extra teaching on this again as I said my bank is well it's been closed for about a hundred years lol. But the half tone again that helped immensely reminding me. God bless you and your family have a safe new year and thank you thank you thank you
Hi Dave I meant to mention in another vid that I love you using Derivan mediums as I use Matisse here in Oz and don't always know what to do with them. Shanks so much. Still have to watch this one
Thank you for another great tutorial and all the techniques, my question is, why do you use the hard boards vs the canvas panels or canvases? I’ve looked on your Amazon and your janson art studio and I can’t see where your selling the hard boards
Hi Deanie, Click this link you will see the hardboards on Amazon. I use these boards so the canvas weave doesn't distort the edges of the flowers. jansenartstudio.com/index.php/supplies
I'm Australian and I find some difficulty with a word you're using while painting roses. Is it 'bowl' or 'ball' or 'bulb' of the rose? I absolutely love your teaching, thank you for your generosity!
I too was taught to ‘break the edge’ with my finger while turning the form....Once u get a feel, its very difficult to let go of. I felt ur pain every time u resisted the urge lol. My acrylic paint has none of the old school toxins such as cadmium, so my question is: Since u were poisoned by the oil paints but continue to use ur finger in these particular acrylics, can I assume u r very confident that u r not being over exposed to something else that may cause u harm?? Thank u!
I know for a fact what I am using will not hurt me. I have been a paint chemist and paint system designer for over 35 years and since I made the formula for the Heritage paints that I use and control what is inside them I can use my hands with no worries whatsoever. The company that makes them for me is also a "green" company and believes in making environmentally safe products. One of the reasons I use them. When I started painting we still didn't know all the reactions to these chemicals. Now we do. My wife is a cancer specialist RN and my son is a surgeon. So together we are always talking and checking everything.
David Jansen Thank u for the reply & information. I know the internet is full of trolls....I was sincerely asking for myself as well. I know u r not speaking on behalf of every paint manufacturer....so I will consider these products, they really peak my interest. I too would love to keep using the finger technique while doing so safely. Thank u!!
Hi an art teacher of mine shared this video with me and normally I *don't* have the attention span to sit through such long videos but this has me hooked it's extremely interesting and informative and I was wondering I live in a country where it's basically impossible to get a good range of supplies so what would *you* recommend for doing this technique if *the* only brands that are available daler rowney, winsor and newton, and maybe Senneiler ( I have the Senneiler slow drying medium)? . Which would you recommend for this?and mediums
Hello sir... Anjana from India.. Happy birthday🎂🎉🎁 party and happy new year.... God bless you I tried to make flowers... Like you but sadly ..... 🙂 not successful
HI DAVID Where can we find this medium in France ? or by internet in europe ? because i bought you brushes last week but the customs fees and shipping costs are very very expensive....
Yes, I understand. They have different suppliers than we do. You can contact them directly from their website. I know they have a couple distributors in Europe. www.matisse.com.au/
Yes, I understand what it would do, but who makes it? Not all acrylics are the same and with many of the newer products you can not mix different brands of acrylics together. I never mix different brands of acrylics unless I talk directly with the company chemist to make sure they work together. Derivan who makes this new medium also manufacturers the Heritage acrylics I use so they will work together. It may not work with other brands. You have to check.
@@JansenArtEducation I understand, yes, different brand acrylic my paints belong to the same brand are slow drying. Heritage acrylic is not sold here, so I can't buy it. thank you very much for the answer .. :) congratulations on your new age, happy new year ☺
