- Welcome back to The Kneady Homesteader channel, and I just wanted to sit with you today to talk about the Longshoreman Strike, rising food prices, what is currently happening in our country and how I am stewarding my family through this. This is just my perspective, my faith leads me, my trust and love in Yahweh and my Messiah guides my feet in all that I do. It is in Him I find comfort and refuge from life's storms.

A year ago, I got a deal for butter at 2.99 a package it was the Challenge salted and unsalted. I bought so much, I still have it in my freezer and will probably will make ghee with it. My niece is in Hendersonville, NC, a tree fell on her house in her kids room on the opposite side of the bunk bed, I thank God he saved those little ones. It destroyed her fireplace. She has no electricity or water and has a brand new baby. I am grateful she has a fantastic neighbor who still has water and electricty. I am also thankful that God let her see her way to stock up on food and she is breastfeeding the new baby. I pray that things get better for them, but they are going to need if they have already received the board to patch their roof up from the rain. I also pray we don't get another hurricane/rain storm. Praying for your niece and her sweet little baby. I can't imagine. I gave birth to my 4th son during the blackout of 2003. That was rough! Being in a hospital with no power was surreal!
I think we need to be aware of what this will bring in the long term. For several days now I’ve felt and urgency as well as my husband. I’d say things have begun but I think things are just clearer as things move forward. Thanks Ms Heather for sharing.
It's amazing when the Father has you seeing through spiritual eyes. Everything is so much clearer!

If your Faith is not enduring, you will not endure. Faith has carried me thru 2 back surgeries in 14 months. I am VERY thankful to wake up each day, even with pain at least I can feel. Praise God. Continue Praising HIM.

i live in Canada in an area that has no floods, no tornado no hurricanes ect...low crimes. Our radio stations for the pass 5 months has been advertising non stop to stock up incase of urgent emergency. we had never had these before. This is clearly a message to us all something is coming. Be prepared. Please keep cash on hand, stock up so you dont have to be stuck in a crazy crowed during chaos. Be safe!

I am thankful for your balanced approach. I would add - as you prepare look for ways you can help others. Our son has a generator and can run his water pump. His whole neighborhood is coming to him for water. This morning, he and his wife had hot coffee and pancakes on their black stone for everyone bringing their containers to fill with water. They look at this as a ministry❤. Look for was to minister to others❤

Hi, Heather! I am finally in a place tonight that I am able to take in this information. When I saw your post last night, I definitely wasn't. I got tickled when you were talking about paper plates and such. Someone was asking me what things I found I needed most after the hurricane, and disposable bowls and spoons were at the top of my list, of all things. 🤭 Earlier today, i was trying to place an order to pick up a few things. I finally had to send the order a couple hours away from the hurricane area here. Even there, though, i was finding things already sold out or either there were limits. My daughter had to pick up the order. I asked how things looked. She said people were already rushing the store. God is so good, though. I have perfect peace about it all. I am not stressing about it at all. God has never failed to supply my needs. I know He won't now. Such a good, good Father!! 😭🙌😭🙌💖 Thank you for the great information and delivery. 💜
Heather, I was aware of this strike, yes. This might be a terrible time for all of us. We do need to get extra supplies in. I take 2 medications for a severe sleep disorder (among the rest of my health issues) and I've worried for years about what if they were not available. I'm going to Safeway on in 2 days and some things for extra stash. I pray for those already hit in the hurricane areas and now this. Unfortunately, I have a small RV refrig. , so not much of anything gets in there. I'm sending prayers for your sons and family, as I feel the stress in your voice. Now is the time to ask God for a full bounty and to watch over all of us. Love you my dear.

I woke up today, heard that the strike was for sure “a go” ….. immediately called my 87 year old mother up and said “let’s go get you anything you may need, for the next few months”….
She’s already prepared, but I wanted all “T’S” crossed and all “i’s” dotted.
We went to Costco (I picked up extra dog food) and got a few more dry goods…. (We picked up bananas too ❤)
We then went to a few discount stores as well. We will probably go out again tomorrow. I need to top off our water (my only weak spot in our preps) …
I’m ordering extra chicken feed on payday (Friday)
I would like to remind everyone to please not forget your pets. Please buy extra feed just in case this really gets drawn out…❤️💕🙏🏼

Excellent reminder!!!! We grabbed extra cat food at Costco and Geddy our pup needs food with lamb because he is allergic to chicken so i have a huge bag of that coming from Amazon. Headed to the mill today to restock our chicken feed and scratch. We usually do these things in October to stock up before winter but putting by a little extra just in case.

Thank you for this reminder for everyone to gather together and pray for one another, as I was watching the news this morning seen a lady that was effected by the hurricane was begging for food for her children that hadn’t ate for 5 days my heart was breaking for her I wish I could hug her thankful someone was giving her food at that time on tv but sure there so many getting nothing it hurts my heart deeply we never know what will happen in this life always have to be prepared as we can and trust the lord in the storm not just in the calm, I pray for peace and calm and healing for all god bless❤

Watching this go down in Australia, I started to learn natural medicines since the vid happened in 2019. I now have my family off all medicines from big pharma and all our medicines now grow in my garden. God has given us a herb for all human needs. Prayers for USA and our world. I know cashiers don’t make a great deal of money. Still self checkout takes a good job away from a person.

I've been slowly gathering survival things over the past few years that I thought I would need in times like this. I only needed a few items to restock, and it's taken care of. Gas tank is full. I'm a one woman show in my household, and I only have me... there is no one else who will protect me (other than God) and I'm okay with that because I'm a confident and secure woman. Also, don't forget the pets.
Me too!! Always remember the pets! I have 8 adopted dogs and 4 cats and I'm a one woman show too!!
@@jerseystotler3615 Eight dogs and four cats...bless you for adopting the 4-leggeds. I always adopt shelter pets or take them in when people can't take care of them for whatever reason. I have 3 dogs and 3 cats. My newest cat is a stray polydactyl kitty. She's finally allowing me to pet her when I feed her. It's taken a few months to get this far with her. I pray that this strike doesn't last too long, but that people realize just how fragile our country is and have a future plan in place.

I buy firm bananas, peel them & lay on a cookie sheet till frozen then seal in ziploc bags. A wonderful frozen healthy treat. Leave them in fridge overnight & they are perfect for banana bread.

I own a small bakery. I was worried about containers so I ordered hundreds of them for the holidays. Just in case. Much more important Is what I saw at Sams today. Every single buggy had toilet paper, paper towels, water. I mean stacked up buggies! Every pickup spot was full. The pickup line was 4-6 deep. There was something in the air. People were antsy. It’s the only way to describe it. I didn’t feel safe. Like one wrong word would set something off.
Being in tune with the energy around you is a blessing and a curse.... I am glad everything stayed calm....but yes, you can definitely feel it.

I’m in Canada and am dealing with shortages of Carbamazepine-CR . It was supposed to be in stock back in July but here we are in October and I am having to take a non controlled released option. It is not working well for my chronic pain/ disorder(Trigeminal Neuralgia).

I overheard one of the managers in Walmart talking to an employee about how they would be effected, the last thing she said was as long as people don’t start panic buying she thought the warehouse could handle it as they have tried to prepare. The sad thing is all that food sitting out there is just going to spoil. The price of chocolate is what I’m flabbergasted over, I buy at Sam’s but the local grocery wants 4.50 for a 12 ounce bag. I’m not happy over the butter prices either, I just made some with a quart of heavy cream that was getting ready to expire, easy and plus you get the buttermilk from it, waste nothing today.
Usually when I go to Costco, I will pick up a container of their M7M's for the candy dish......girl....$18.99!!!!! For M&M's!!!!! Priot to 2020, they were $6.99! Last time I bought some, quite a few months back they were $12.99. NO WAY am I paying almost $20 for them now! And nobody else is either. The stack was full and high. Not one missing. Nobody can afford that!

I was at the Midland, Costco tonight and the Saginaw, Sam’s Club, I know we live fairly close, but I couldn’t find any toilet paper, my allergy medicine, along with a few other things. I guess I’m going to have to check Meijer, Kroger, and maybe Dollar General and see if I can stock up on a couple things that I will need. Thank you for keeping us aware about this and trying to protect us all. Hugs 🥰

The truck drivers went on strike here not long ago. Haven't had vitamin D milk here in 3 months!! I can't imagine what this is going to do to us in Puerto Rico!! We rely on some foods shipped. They sure don't think of us when they stike!!

One of the reasons I’m so very excited to finish the cabin is the cost of everything has almost doubled here and has taken over 3 years to complete ….and I want to try and fill my new pantry! We don’t have tax on essential foods here in Canada but our butter is high as well -now on sale for $4.77 regular is probably closer to $7-8..

My son works for Denso in East TN. He is seeing it more and more in the factory at where he works. Walmart has been moving into more also. It’s coming.
I’m in south western Quebec and I’m hoping this doesn’t affect us BUT I do most of my groceries in upstate New York! Went to Aldi’s yesterday and butter is now $3.99 there and $4.49 at Walmart
it's crazy high, right? I pray we dont see $8/lb butter!
If we don't get produce, like at our country store in march 2020, they had nothing,..I ordered #10 lb cans of augason farms freeze dried (mango, bananas, apples, peaches, raspberries, ...) ... might be a good time to order some, and the price is right today, might not be next week nor be able to afford them... thanks, Heather! Good thinking ahead!!!! I have some freeze dried food tucked back in my pantry....pray we never need them. Really feeling called to buying a freeze drier soon!
I live in southeast Georgia affected by Helene. My local Kroger was without power enough that by law and safety, had to throw out ALL the meats, perishable foods, think luncheon meats, pre packaged pizza crusts, milk and dairy (cheeses !) when I saw the carts of food being thrown out, I was heartbroken. Everyone commented “why not give away or sale instead of throwing it out?” By law and safety, Kroger had to destroy it. 😢

yeah, I know those laws are in place an.....under normal circumstances, like a power outage I understand it. However, this is NOT a typical power outage or storm.....I guess it depends how long everything had been sitting at room temp too. The last thing you guys need is to be sick HOWEVER they could have gave away all of that food prior to the hurricane, knowing the power outages were coming. Its better than being thrown away. You know the one thing I talk about a lot on my channel is the fact that we waste so much food. I really try to work hard not to do that. Being good stewards of what we have been blessed with is so important. ugh. I am so sorry for all your community is currently going through, and I am praying feverishly for all of you. The rest of us are feeling so helpless. All I can do is donate.....which I know if we all did it would help so much....but at some point you just need boots on the ground. Our government again is failing us...bankrupting FEMA.... girl, I am so sorry. Please keep me posted on how you are doping, ok?
Thank you so much for info I didn't know about. I knew about the strike but not the full impact. I am doing a WM delivery order for tomorrow...and it includes bananas. I think of my mom who always said she needed her bananas for potassium. I carry on with that also. Take care!

I found butter on clearance on local grocery store a few weeks back, it was still high but I bought it and stored it in the freezer. plus we buy from Sams

One other point, those of us in florida aren't safe to stock up on freezer and refrigerator foods until hurricane season ends Nov 30th because when we loose power we loose our food that are perishable.
YES!!!! I think of that every time I see a video with content creators telling people to stockpile to the ceiling.....some people CAN'T do that! And what good is it if it can all be washed away? Destroyed by tornado? You can only prepare for so much.....and what you do "stockpile" you need to be a good steward of. Don't buy more than you will use. Don't buy so much that it goes bad before you can eat it. Be mindful. Prepare for life's emergencies but dont be a hoarder. Coveting food. Turning your pantry into an idol. Thats my opinion at least. You can never prepare for your home to be wiped out. You can try your best, but unless it happens to you, you just can not full grasp it. God bless you all down there......you are all in my prayers.
I was hoping that in the wake of the devastating hurricane, the union would have postponed the strike for a few weeks to make sure supplies get to those in need.
This is horrible 😢, they want 69.00 and hour , they already get 40.00 , and its at a bad time in our country Helene destroyed the south 6 states , i agree their pleas about robots , but this administration is pushing this 😢, sad yes i have cousins in this industry especially at the ports , its a family thing passed down

I have pain relievers stocked up and make elderberry syrup for daily use in the winter. I have plenty of ingredients for that. I do have my prescription medications but if this were to last for awhile that could be a problem. Unfortunately you can only have your prescriptions filled at a certain time. I’m trusting that God will help us all through! ❤️
