  • The Allen Telescope Array in Northern California is a 42 antenna array designed specifically for radio SETI - the detection of technosignatures from extraterrestrial life. But in 2011 the program's funding was cut short. This is the story of a team of researchers who have since revitalized the array and conduct daily SETI searches on site.
The ATA and this film are made possible by generous donations from Franklin Antonio.

I came here after watching video "My Demons" by Starset and learned a lot of new and interesting things. Thanks for your story.
    I want to believe!

Great production. :) Here's a thought. The center of the milky way is about 25,800 light years away. So, if someone sent a signal from there in our direction, they would have had to send it 25,800 years ago. Now extend that line another 25,800 light years further away, and now another "Earth" in the same location in the milky way as us, if they sent a message out toward us, they would have had to send it 51,600 years ago for us to receive it today. And this is just in our own galaxy! So you can imagine how long it will take for our signals that were sent out, how long it could take for another world to receive it.

Yeah, I was thinking about that too, but it seems there is so much I don't understand and that is an understatement. Our concept of space & time may be skewed perhaps from our vantage point on Earth. And although what you say is true, what is there to say that another civilization might have the capability to send messages FTL. Who knows? In any event, it is still worth searching. I willing to bet that we will discover intelligent life and hoping within our lifespan unless we annihilate the planet first. We humans have a propensity of deliberate self-destruction and hatred and I can't understand that aspect of our humanity.
