I’m a 26 year retired Army Disabled Veteran. I can’t work anymore so I have several tortoises that I go to schools and teach the children about these amazing animals. Of course I get asked about having them as pets and I explain to them it is serious commitment. And some species of tortoises are more challenging to raise than others. And I do tell the parents their not good children pets. Now my 8 year old does help take care of them as I am teaching her responsibilities to include taking care of animals. Of course I am there every step when we are taking care of them. I have 3 Red Footed (going to try and breed them), Golden Herman, 25lb African Spur, pancake, Specke Hinge, and a box turtle. Last, big time Milla fan, literally today started watching Resident Evil series from first one to last with my sick daughter (the 8 year old) as one of her all time favorite movies is 5th Element and she wanted to see the RE movies with Daddy. (Plus killing time till Monster Hunter comes out)
I feel that she missed something and that's how pricey they get not including the tortoise itself which is pretty expensive but the supplies to care for it like humidifiers, lights, and décor can all easily get over 100$+
An awesome Stoner pet, you can get stoned and watch them, it's what i do lol, I have an Eastern box turtle named leaf, he's awesome! He has his own side of the house where he digs and walks, got some boulders he can climb, sometimes I sit outside his area with a chair and observe him like a zoo animal, it's California so he sleeps in a huge bin in the house at night and winter, but lives outside basically and is like an indoor cat when winter arrives
