    I use Seafoam in all small engines for years, makes a huge difference keeping them running good. It helps the new crap gasoline keep from plugging up the carbs and passages…

    At least the yields at the north farm are substantially better than the south fall meaning there is actually a decent amount of grain to haul .

    Use 1/8" Nylon braided accessory Cord for the key leash on the auger. It holds up MUCH longer than white Zip ties.

    Nice video of the operation at the terminal. I worked for Viterra for years. I helped make the system that your ticket comes from. You must be made of money Mike. Everything you have is brand new. Virtually nothing is used. Expenses must be very high

    That generator shack, you could line the inside with rigid foam board to keep the heat in or when really cold be able to throw a small heater in it to help the engine out. Those doors are terrible to seal they will always fill with snow, thinking they are manufactured that way to have air flow into it if its warm out, cheap fix would be a split pool noodle to block the snow/weather, guy could always cut in a air intake or prop the door open when in use in the cold

    Hey Mike on my hx I have it has scales on the drive tires and will tell you what's on your drives if you scroll through the cluster screen to axle load.

    In the states we load ag trailers like boxcars and dodge the dot scales and run them maxed out....atleast here in my neck of the woods....95k on 5 axles is a regular day.

    Never understood why the heavy spec trucks designed and built to carry more weight are limited like that. I get it, roads and bridges, but still… A heavy built truck is made to carry more weight but you can’t because of the goobermint. You have to pay extra to use the double or triple frame truck with big axles to its potential, meanwhile a truck built to handle less weight can be loaded to the max.

    Mike, regarding grain flying out of an auger hopper- Many years ago, I built an auger hopper with angled flutes that stopped grain from flying out of the hopper. Grain flies out from one side of the auger flighting where the rotation is upward and to the side. Those flutes stopped grain from flying out.     1400 bu. is a nice load. Your not hauling for hire so like you said thatlittle extra tare weight not as big of a deal, Nice video. I see you have no straps running from the front to the rear of your trailers to keep water from puddling up when trailers are sitting. One less thing to dodge when loading of grain & make a mess.

    Are you unloading? Mike reminds me of an old. Story we had a guy come in and unload from our bin on our farm. He unloaded a ride on the green door in the trailer. He busted the green door completely off. My dad and me were pissed. Luckily insurance covered it. We’ve never seen that guy again.

    Also have a question:how many tons or bushels does the grain leg move in one hour?

      Looks like the elevator is taking his grain away as fast as he can dump it. 45 tonnes in 10 minutes, so at least 270 tonnes/hour. One of my local elevators is about that fast, the other is quite a bit slower, maybe 2/3 of that speed.
      Back at his farm the load speed is probably around 100 tonnes an hour.

      Yes,you are right,basicly it's between 200 and 300 tons/h in this size terminal.
      In the co op where i worked it was maxi 300,most of the time they run 200 to avoid problems,not very nice when the leg is plugged.😁

    They should Probe your trailer on the scales. Over a year's time they can steal several pounds of grain

      That's part of the profit margin for the grain buyer, they all sample before the scales. One processor I hauled to would fill a decent sized grain wagon and would have to unload it a few times a day. Some others that were less busy used garbage cans or dumpsters to hold the samples. Double trailers look like a nightmare to back up very far but it would be nice to legally haul that much grain each trip.

    20.5tons? I feel like that's still pretty light, my own rig ( mind you, european driver here running Tandem swap bodies ) is 21t / 23.5t empty, depending on wether or not I have the Carry-on forklift on the back. I would have thought those big B-doubles would be heavier!

      Standard bbtrain gvw in Canada is 63,500 kg.
      Configured as tandem drive truck, tridem trailer 1, tandem trailer 2.

It shows angled flutes in my truck auger hopper that stops grain from flying out of the hopper. Instead of building a whole new hopper with angled flutes, a frame with angled flutes can be built to fit on top of the existing hopper. Then it can be used or not used as desired.

      There's a massive amount of air pressure in the bags when the trailers are loaded, so if you empty the grain really fast, sometimes the bags can't exhaust air fast enough on their own to release enough pressure, and it can cause the bags to overinflate and blow, and then you're screwed/out of service. So if you manually open the exhaust valve on the bags, they release pressure much faster and won't blow.......just gotta remember to air them back up once the load is gone.

      As you load the trailer, the air pressure in the air bags increases. When you unload the trailer that quickly, the air bags can't exhaust the air fast enough. Its possible to blow an air bag.

    U have to use none Ethanol gas. Ethanol attract and absorb moisture. So u might have some water in ur gas making it hard to start and keep running. So u have to pay that bigger premium for Ethanol free and it will last longer. Takes twice as long for it to go bad

    Don’t know how much your business rates are for electricity in Canada but in the UK some users are installing generators and switching off the mains as it’s too expensive 😳. It certainly wouldn’t be worth paying thousands to have electricity installed to a remote farm

      @@flemmingnielsen5989 until they make def reliable people will delete it.. Infact, why is there no def on emergency vehicles, army/military or school buses?
      Also if you are talking about climate change, let's talk about that and the fact that the largest polluters in the world are not required to have def... 1 single 737 Commercial Airline runs approximately 10.5hrs per day and burns 750gal per hour. That jet would burn more fuel in a couple days then I would burn in a single year.
      Locomotives also are not required to have def and those engine only ever shut off for servicing - that's right, they nearly run 24/7 belching black smoke with no def.
      What about all the cargo and cruise ships? They are actually measured not by miles per gal but by gallons per foot 😂.. Also no def.
      What about the navy, fighter jets, air craft carriers, or the 10,000 planes/jets in the air at any given minute all with 0 pollution control. So instead pointing your finger at an industry that accounts for less than 1% of the fuel usage, ask your self why is there no def on airlines? Because the government's and industry know its unreliable and run on the moto "do I as I say, and not as I do". Imagine the deaths with airlines dropping out of sky per hour because of def code that shut the engines down. 🤣 That would be news worthy.

    The jet on those vanguards is too small. EPA goofs make it smaller so small engines will meet the new standards they impose. Only hand drill one drill size up. The bigger hole will not get plugged as much as the epa one. That'll get rid of the surging. Fuel filters are made in India and are of poor quality, and will let particles through.

      At the north farm there's like terminals everywhere 😆 like 70km any direction... They don't know how good they have it up here!
      Back home we only have 2 terminals, and the closest is 160km one way.

      You can keep your automatic transmission in big trucks… I’ll take my Kenworth with a CAT 3406E and 18 Speed all day Iong over a foreign truck, with all the bells and whistles that will eventually wear out and leave you stranded.

      Allison automatic transmissions have been around for decades. But they cannot (currently) handle the power necessary to move 63.5 tonnes, but that will change. I actually heard of a guy pulling Super-Bs with a 500hp Allison 6-speed and he says it does amazingly well, but probably not good for a long haul. The 10-speed looks good but so far Allison is loath to sell it to anyone it seems. Constant, uninterrupted torque should increase fuel efficiency.
      Automated manuals have been around for decades as well, but only recently have they really become good enough for truckers to be comfortable with them. I suspect in another 10 years, automated manuals will be out-selling the manuals. Even long-time truckers I talk to have nothing but good things to say about them and as their bodies age, with bad shifting shoulders, the automated manuals start being pretty sweet.

      @@rempellegacyranch4965 it’s hard to find any Fuel without any Ethanol at all. It’s not going to run right anyway Premium is less volatile than 87 which is probably why he has running issues. They make premium less volatile to combat Knock so when your Engine is Tuned for it as in a Sports Car, etc, you can run more timing.

      Premium (in Western Canada) has a much longer shelf life than regular or mid-grade. Small engines start noticeably better after sitting with fuel in the tank. The fuel even smells much better. The price is much higher but saves the hassle of dumping and finding legal disposal of stale fuel that stinks and won't burn in the engine after sundown.

      @@wssides Premium is less volatile than 87 that makes no sense since 91+ already burns worse than 87. You can’t take 91+ and think it turns into 87 as it ages it doesn’t work like that.

      Kohler's no better. Have an EFI kohler and it hunts all over the place at half throttle. Pretty much has only two speeds. Idle and full throttle. Nothing in between.

      I have that same vanguard on an auger. It is terrible. Changed the EFI modules on warranty. Still running terrible.
