Yes 🙌 they should’ve switched up from the book since they already changed some scenes. Instead of her “fixing” Cole, it should’ve been her working on her relationship with Alex and helping him overcome his insecurities over his brother 😭 why do so many people ignore the red flags when the guy is hot 😩😩😩
When will someone write the story that most guys who act like cole don’t actually have a sob story, they are awful people who shouldn’t be trusted just because they pay you special attention for five minutes

Alex is such a sweetheart and he deserved better. This is The Summer I Turned Pretty all over again. I'm sick of shows telling teenage girls that a toxic, oh-so-misunderstood jerk is a better choice than a sweet and unproblematic guy who genuinely cares about you.
And people wonder why we struggle with love so much these days, because we grow up with this garbage 😪 I'm so mad about the ending. Everything was good, why'd they have to go write that kiss in? 😮💨

Can we stop romanticizing a challenging, toxic and competitive love story? Like from enemies to lovers? It’s not supposed to be hard or a rollercoaster with ups and downs. I am so over it. Alex and Jackie have it all: the accountability, the pure love, friendship and attachment that can grow into a long lasting love relationship. Teens are made to believe that THIS is not it, but truth is, love should be stable and the person you’re with should be your best friend. The whole “Cole is her soulmate and Alex is her best friend” thing doesn’t see what’s the problem with men and women being best friends. While this may be possible for kids, it’s quite unrealistic for teenagers or grown ups. One of them is always wanting more. Cole is the unknown forbidden fruit for Jackie. People a good love story is never a forbidden thing
Oh and I did forget to say we have a team Conrad/ team Jeremiah situation here. Brothers. Again. Why?

i knew i was team alex from when they first met and he just stood in silence with a look of astonishment. jackie meant so much to him, and the “cole effect” just threw that away. alex was just insecure since cole was always able to get everyone he desired, alex finally got his chance and then it was trashed. alex always took accountability, he was always there for jackie, he treats jackie so well, hes honestly the best. disagree with me, idrc, but i need this show to end with jackie and alex.

I definitely liked Alex way more before he was dating Jackie. Afterwards, he acted so possessive and showing her off like a trophy..rubbing it in other’s face (ie cole and Kylie were annoyed with his behavior).Alex was also getting into unnecessary fights with Cole…I guess it’s easier to blame Cole for everything as he’s “the bad guy”. Alex jealously and insecurity was getting difficult to watch.😒However, he didn’t deserve backstabbing from the two people he loves.😔Imagine, the rift it will leave in the bros already strained relationship.😔

@@tierraellerbe1802 I watched the first season of that show (summer turned pretty), it was okay..didn’t see the second season. But, in S1, wasn’t Jeremiah the playboy?😂. However,it’s not fair to compare them to Walter boys as they knew belly from childhood and were practically family. Besides, Walter boys has more of a plot than a love triangle. It’s about family and finding yourself. I just couldn’t connect with summer show, it was a bit too cringy for me. Walter boys characters are much better written imo☺️
@@MsBZ-xf8ry he was seen as the player boy but he was single and didn't have anyone everyone besides belly he hooked up with were just flings but ngl I didn't watch season 2 in its entirety but I did keep up with it and yes finally someone said it the summer show the show is about that love triangle and I wish it was more family friend oriented but oh alright I might check out Walter boys but idk a lot of people have been comparing bc of the love triangle and how alike the boys are 🤷🏽😩🙄👍🏽
@@tierraellerbe1802 definitely check out the Walter boys. It’s waaayyy more than just a love triangle. It’s more family oriented and focused on finding your footing in this world. Of course the triangle with bros is there, but it’s not the focus…you will enjoy it and the cast is much better (imo) and plot is wholesome, it’s a feel good show. I just found the summer show bit too cheesy/cringey for my taste as it revolves too much around belly & her drama and that annoyed me sooooo much! At least, in Walter boys the main girl Jackie is incredible & has her priorities straight (she’s not boy crazy😉).

I was SO upset that Jackie kissed Cole. He didn’t love her like Alex loved her. Alex literally tells her he loves her when Cole only said he wanted her. Alex deserves so much better. I really hope there is another season. I also hate how she just tried to run away from her problems by going back to New York. Honestly, I loved the show until til the ending. I was so mad when she kissed him. Like, how can she not see that Alex is so much better!!! But I love how you can see how much Alex loved her from the moment he lays eyes on her. But Cole was so entitles and annoying, I kind of hated him. It was like he thought he could have whatever he wanted. That’s why I liked when Erin put him in his place. I am still so sad that Alex has to go through the heartbreak of losing ANOTHER girl to his brother 😢
Ummm.. sorry to break it to you. Spoiler Alert: In the book, Alex admits to Jackie that he only got with her because he wasn’t over Paige and he just wanted to prove something to Cole.
Also, not sure you’ve seen the short clip of Ashby (Alex) floating around where he said he thought he was Team Alex when he read the script but after watching the show, he even wondered why ANYONE IS TEAM ALEX lol

@@carletabcmz yeah I saw that. I just hope the writers develop these characters and stay to certain truths and don’t fill these teenagers heads with fantasies. Normalizing cheating is never good and it never ends well. They turned Alex into a jerk just to make Cole look better smh. Cole was the worst only to become the softer side of sears in the last two episodes then he stabs his brother in the back again. It was just poorly written. So I hope the writers are paying attention to the reviews

In real life, Jackie stays in NYC, cuts all contact with the Walter’s, goes to a boat load of therapy, and attends the school she went to before her family tragedy. Then a few years later, Alex is in college in NYC, goes to a friend of a friend’s party at Princeton and runs into Jackie there. They’re both more mature and see the blessing in a second chance ❤.

cole crashed his mother’s award show, practically cheated on erin and then when he was at rock bottom tried to win her back but then he moved onto jackie instead bc erin rejected him, he’s constantly disrespectful and rude and purposely provoked his brother by saying hurtful things to him 💀 genuinely don’t understand why people root for him omg

Alex struggled to love her, while Cole only eluded other girls. They sure are the best couple. I don't think it will end with them together, but it was a beautiful love story, of a boy who treated her with fragility and loved her

I find him getting more and more annoying as the show progresses. He is immature, he is insecure, he only opens up to his friend Kylie, when we see a glimpse of him, it is with her, but still we don't know that much about him, but what we know is kind of toxic until now. He is obsesses with love (not even with love for Jackie, but in general it seems)

Alex is the perfect boyfriend, I feel bad for rooting for her to stay with Cole. Alex is all she needs in this difficult phase she's going through right now, while Cole is an emotional mess that she needs to keep her distance from. It's a shame that Jackie and Alex's story had that ending.

@@AdaezeEmeka I agree and the fact that most of the book was covered in season one, the writers will definitely have to come up with new ideas and love interest for the characters in order for them to develop. I would like to see all the characters explore new options. These are teenagers and relationships only last for a few months before they are on to the next. So new flings and love interest is definitely what this show needs for all the characters. Especially Alex and Jackie

Anyone who thinks he's a ray of sunshine is a red flag cause he's cheated MULTIPLE TIMES, ditched his little sister after promising (promises mean nothing to him), and told Alex he blamed him for everything, but Cole always played victim how he didn't know about Paige
My cousin told me she was so happy when Cole and Jackie kissed at the end, and I literally said, are you a monster? Like you're happy that Alex confessed he was in love with her, and then they go make out. That is not okay!!

I think my biggest problem isn't even the cheating (I mean, it's obviously awful and wrong), but the fact that he specifically swore to both Jackie and Alex that he'd never do that to his little brother and then ended up doing exactly that! So not only a cheater but also a liar. Red flags everywhere.

This is exactly what I've been saying all along!! As Erin said, her and Cole's relationship used to be great, but what I got from the show was that Cole was more keen about lust than love. Alex said he loved Jackie, Cole said he "wanted" her. When Alex had a bad day he went riding his horse. When Cole had a bad day he went on to sleep with Erin and hurt her feelings yet again. I'm afraid Cole would just screw Jackie over just as he did with all the other girls.

This story reminded me of the Pear Harbour movie. Alex looks just like Josh Harnett and they are both sweet and the perfect guy. But of course, always the girl chooses the bad one! Awful, in life sweet guys are the best and the ones who really make your life much better and easier.

****Spoilers ahead**** I love these two so much and while I am upset at the ending, I think it makes sense for Jackie and Cole - Jackie got the teapot that was reminiscent of her sister. Imagine getting back a piece of your heart, and Cole gave that to her. So I understand why she kissed him. And Cole was lost and taking his anger out on everyone but Jackie grounded him. He truly loves her but he has so much to work on still, but I get why he kissed her as well. It was a momentary lapse in judgment so I get why Jackie escaped lol. Plus she's so young, it just makes sense but I'm still so upset lol. Alex was always behind her, cared for her truly and was so respectful. Him saying no while she was drunk was just the best, and I sobbed when he showed her the Colorado Henge :D I gotta say the comments are giving me life because I'm glad more people appreciate dudes like Alex, he's so rare and they need to be protected lol.

I always knew she’d end up with Cole, from the start of the show, just GOSH her and alex were just perfect. he was always there for her and ready to defend and support her, he truly loved her. Cole is just toxic, he’s always drinking and doing things that aren’t good for him. He was there for her too, but at the end of the show when he kissed her he KNEW his brother was in love with her but still kissed him. Alex doesn’t deserve that and it’s seriously so sad that she ended up choosing Cole. Jackie is low key really stupid for that, but the heart wants what it wants. I seriously hope there’s a season two and a future for alex and jackie 😔
They basically packed the entire book into one season and I’m guessing they did it just in case they wasn’t renewed for a second season. Which is smart and hopeful for those hoping for a Jackie and Alex relationship but the way things ended in season one and I’m sure the show will give Jackie and Cole there time together, it maybe a while before we get Jackie and Alex if I’m being honest. Maybe season 3 or 4 if the show makes it that long lol. I think we need to develop hackies character more and understand what she’s going through after losing her entire family. Tbh she’s too broken to be in love with anyone and fits Cole because he’s broken himself and he’s not looking for love. Jackie was down spiraling the last 2 episodes even though they did a poor job portraying that but the Princeton interview was suppose to be insight into her world. She froze when her dad was brought up and that spoke volumes to me about her. She’s struggling with internal pain and probably feels dark. I hope the show gives us the traumatic side of her so we can understand her and her decision making and why it’s bad decisions with Cole and more goal oriented with alex

These young girls haven’t had there heart broken before so they don’t understand accountability and not to base a relationship on chemistry or attraction but more on a person’s personality, his character and morals. Cole was able to get every girl he wanted because he had chemistry with them and they were attracted to him. So Jackie fell for what every girl who likes Cole fell for him. Because when young base their relationship on chemistry and attraction you can deceive them easily. The will bypass all the obvious red flags just to be with him and those girls usually get there hearts broken.

Jackie and Cole probably regretted that kiss right away and probably told each other it was a mistake.. Jackie KNEW the kiss meant something to her and felt guilty and that’s why she left… upon coming back, she will probably still stay with Alex while avoiding Cole! He, not wanting to hurt his little brother, will probably have a new girlfriend in Season 2… more ANGST!!!

I think it will be best for Jackie to breakup with Alex and be honest to him that she doesn’t love him. Just be friends with both brothers until Alex can make peace with her choosing Cole. But it won’t happen 🤦🏻♀️interestingly, there isn’t a second book yet…so if it’s renewed I assume writers will prolong Jackie/Cole as they are endgame. I feel like Alex and his BFF (Kylie?) are endgame-she’s so good to him and makes him a priority. It’s sad that he doesn’t even see her😕btw, im keen to see Erin/Danny build up in S2. They were hinting at something and would be a nice pair. However, it’s super weird that Walter brothers will be dating each other’s ex girlfriends😬

Also, brothers dating each other’s exes is super weird but let’s just pretend that it’s a smallllllll town and so everyone knows everyone lol

I bet he will act like a playboy again in front of Jackie and will be rude to push her away. I just hope she’s not with Alex out of guilt as that’s worse form of cheating. I want season 2 now but it won’t be for a while. Cole/jackie won’t be a couple for long, but they better be endgame. I do hope Cole got his priorities straight in S2 as it will be senior year and he will be hopefully moving away for college(he always wanted escape this town). Ik sum cole shippers might be saying that alex js wants to have jackie to get back at cole and that he just wants revenge, but theres something that bothers me about that. You could tell in the beginning that Alex had the love at first sight when he saw Jackie. You could see it, and that was even before Jackie had met Cole. Why would Alex think that Cole would get her when the two hadnt even interacted yet?
I believe that Alex genuinely loves her and isn’t just trying to get back at Cole because of the reason I js explained
It’s obvious he’s in love with her and she led him in believing she was in love with him. Then somewhere within the show she changed from the sweet and innocent and caring Jackie to the emotional, heartless, deceitful Jackie that totally wasn’t thinking about what she was doing and how it would affect the one who loved her

Many things can be true at once, Alex can like Jackie and still use her to compete with Cole. That’s exactly what happend. There is no denying Alexes infatuation with Jackie, he can be kind, caring and thoughtful. But but bitterness, resentment and the actions that come with it is hard to ignore. When Alex uses Jackie to make Cole jealous or when rumors spread an he assumes Cole spread them. Proceeds hurt and humiliate Cole about the fact that he can’t play football anymore. Alex can be borderline cruel. He got mad that Jackie wanted to help Cole and save his mom’s awards dinner. It is clear that Alex likes Jackie but some red flags are hard to ignore. I think if he loved her he’d take her more into consideration, he seems more infatuated. Cole may be very flawed but it’s clear that he loves her.
@@khwezi9576 I agree with everything you’re saying about Alex in your critique of his character. But you’re being biased in your analysis by only pointing out Alex flaws and none of Cole’s. So let me advocate for Alex and point out what I saw as red flags in Cole. Once Jackie had made her choice why would he make it his mission to interfere with Jackie and Alex in public? While still being platonic with Erin? The hallway encounter, the restaurant encounter, the bonfire encounter?? I was fine with him confronting Jackie because she was the one giving him mix signals but confronting Alex was childish also and very immature. Yes Alex was being immature and insecure and behaving like a 16 year old who’s had his heart broken before. The only thing about that is he was a 15/15 yr old who had his heart broken. The only reason there isn’t much remorse for Alex is because his story wasn’t fleshed out and we don’t understand how traumatic his heart break was. Also Cole throwed temper tantrums when he was rejected by Jackie and became very toxic. Getting drunk, missing his sister game and not being there for his family. I think both brothers have obvious red flags about them that were caused by traumatic events. I just notice alot of criticism of Alex and sympathy for Cole cause one story was fleshed out more than the other. But I fault Jackie and she deserves to be criticized also and in comparison to Kylie. It’s not even close. Kylie is the clear choice for me

I can feel a brother sister connection to be honest i feel like she is mistook the chemistry since he's her first comfort person who she fully trust since her family passed. But I never felt like there was an attraction or real romantic interest from her side. Other than that it wasn't healthy for him either since he was too obsessive due to his insecurities and because he deep down knew from the beginning that there was a spark between her and Cole.

(⚠SPOILERS, IF YOU DIDNT WATCH IT!!⚠) It was so sad to see Jackie cheat on Alex like that. They were so close but Alex didn't even come close to kissing Kylie (I had my doubts). Alex is so sweet and gentle wth her, while cole is just toxic. He cheated on Erin and he hooked up with Olivia, her best friend. And I know the Paige thing was messed up and It wasn't Cole's fault he didn't know. I really hate that side of Jackie's character. Alex did everything for her, and one nice gesture and she flipped to Cole so quick. I really really thought Enemies to Lovers love stories were really cute and I still do but this one is just toxic and so dumb. I'm so heartbroken for Alex he deserves better. They really had no right to hurt him like that. Alex also hurt Kylie so there is no excuse for him on that one but he don't even know she likes him soo..

I liked Alex, but i didn’t feel this connection between them like I did w cole. When they’re with each other something is missing; there’s no sparks within looks, no “omg what’s going to happen” moments. I loved Jackie and Alex, Cole was literally a massive red flag who didn’t like relationships at all, meaning when he got into with a girl, he could also be fking around with another girl at the same time.
Whereas, Alex was a gentleman who was just hurt because his brother was a damn gf stealer.
I know we established that he didnt know it was Alex’s girlfriend, but it was still a dumb thing to do, kissing a random girl you meet at a party? Be serious. Nobody does that except for massive red flags, annnnd cole seems like he would be a bad bf anyway, and would rush things. Erin deserved more than him, and Paige was just a complete ass. Alex was probably the most hurt though, she chose COLE, over him, and that would be the second time his girlfriend betrayed him.
No matter no damn “cole effect”
Cole and Jackie were in the wrong when it came to being together, thats the type of relationship that I bet only lasts a month or two 🤦🏼♀️
