It's not just the slap, it's the lack of remorse and realization that he never thought and would understand that he was wrong. In the end, it's about about her dignity as a woman and human. She was slapped in front of everyone. It's easy to swallow pain and even humiliation BUT it's hard to swallow your dignity. I don't know why but this movie reminded me of "The Overcoat" by Nikolai Gogol. It's a great story.
It is the slap as well. Nobody can hit their partners, gender apart. And all kind of DV cases start just like this, with one slap.
He did regret it at the end and did apologise although very late. Mistakes do happen, everyone is human. Ultimately it boils down to a choice and both have to live with it both the dumper and the dumpee.

just like he tried to buy her initially with some jewelry...thats the reason for this escalation..he never felt like to sincerely apologize and accept what he has done...infact this reminds me of my gf...she is a great person but when i am not sincere in my apology or try to evade something for which i am truly responsible, she gets absolutely mad and she will not forgive until she is convinced that i am truly apologetic...

Bruh in your India only 22% women are allowed to work and less than 1% own property. Also she gets custody because the child is not born yet. Literally all work till now is done by her. Plus he is doing DV which automatically makes him unfit parent. FYI 33% women in India suffer DV and divorce rate is only 1% meaning most women don't divorce abusive husband

Sometimes such wounds never heal up. Whenever you look at yourself in the mirror, that incident haunts you and attacks your self respect. I have earned so much respect from the society but I was hit by my husband twice and recently l refused to accept it and come out of it but couldn't as my parents have that typical Indian parents type mentality , fear of social stigma and then the thought of keeping my toddler devoid of his father's love stopped me from taking that decision but trust me once someone attacks your self respect , you can not forgive that person easily

@@tgarriivmea Yes but the reaction should be proportinate and Domestic Violence is not gender specific. A lawyer, whether male or female should maintain professional decorum. Going ballistic in such a manner, as the woman's lawyer did is not just unprofessional and mean , but also has the risk of portraying women in a poor light.
