Random fun fact about the Adams family
Everything about the characters is meant to be the opposite of what was/is considered the social norms. Puglsy is a timid, quiet, pushover who is chubby and often bullied for example. Since the ideal social standard of a boy is an outgoing, confident, fit, leader.
Morticia and Gomez have a incredible amount of love and compassion for eachother and love and respect their kids and their kids choices. They never beat their children and always respond with a reasonable reprimand and explanation rather than just yelling or hurting them. And they always encourage their children to do what they want, even when it makes them uncomfortable or they don't understand it.
They're basically the ideal couple and ideal parents. But they were written that way because it's the opposite of the social standard. And I think that says so much about us culturally.
