Took me 10-11 months to get to the straddle and I plateau on straddle to full for another 10 months and now I can hold a good form front lever for 2 secs and bad form 5 secs took me 1 years and 10 months to get to the full front lever and form comes with time
Very insightful! I really like the notion of building basic raw strength first and then adding specificity. It may be more monotonous, but it is also far more effective
What a great video, Andrew. Your processes for building skills are very sound and you give great explanations as to your methods. Wish you well on your recovery from the hernia.
I am currently at the same stage bro ;) It took me more time than you but I was not fully focused on that skill. However now I am more motivated to reach the full front lever stage. Recently added dragon flags and body rows (should have done those far more earlier) to my routine. Good luck with taming that beast ;)
It was your recommendation that caused it!!! 😡😡😡 Just kidding 🤣 I went a bit to hard on an ab wheel rollout at the end of a training session. Was silly of me really 😭 Hope you're all good!!! 💪🏿
Awesome progress, I’m working towards full front lever using bands but it’s been years of progression. It’s nice seeing a more realistic progression, rather than the “zero to full in 3 months” that we see all too often (which are still amazing, but not everyone will do the same)
Cheers Mark! And yeah I get triggered by those videos too... It is possible, I know, but for people who aren't students, or train legs or weigh 35KGs, the reality is that more advanced skills will take longer. 👊🏿
I had a hernia repaired almost exactly a year ago (umbilical). I haven't had any issues since and it took me about 3 months before I was back to my full routine (incl. front lever + planche training). Do you know what method will be used to repair it yet? I had mine done robotically and I hear it helps with recovery time and healing overall. Good luck!
Glad you've had such a full recovery!!! I have an ingruinal hernia, but because of the size of it, I don't think keyhole surgery will be an option but I'll have to see. Comments like this are encouraging to read though, and give hope that this will only be a minor set back 👊🏿
That's crazy!! First of all huge congrats on your front lever - I am of course super jealous! 😅 On the point of the back lever, have you spent much time training it? I would assume that you'd have the strength to do it, you may simply need the shoulder mobility and joint conditioning down
@@CaliToTheCrowd Thanks for your response ! I trained a lot front lever with band and front lever with 1 leg. For the back lever, I do negatives and straddle hold, but I can't hold the full back lever for more than 3 seconds while I can hold the front lever for 10 seconds
Bruh, I can hold better a advanced tuck back lever and I'm starting to train to hold a adv tuck front lever, I've been training pure reps and now I'm doing 360 pull and holds
So long for a straddle Front Lever!!! I'm sorry, but I have 3 months Basics Calisthenics and than I locked the Front Lever. No straddle progression and anything else. I do now Dragon Flags for my Front Lever Training ( Supi Wide grip Front Lever). I love Skills Training. My goal is Maltese 💪🏽. Good job young Calister 👍🏾✌🏾
Some may think this is a long time but Straddle front lever in less than 2 years is very good in my experience! Thank you for making a realistic video
It felt even longer while I was working on it!

100% 👊🏿
This is why I love his channel. Realistic time from somebody who isn't just a 15 year old who learns planche in a week
🤣
What a great video, Andrew.

Bro your calisthenics progress in 3 years is more than mine in nearly 9!!!!!
Haha as long as you're improving bro! 🔥
Thanks for posting a realistic video.
Most videos nowadays give people unrealistic expectation in a short amount of time
Agreed! Hoping this will help motivate people that the struggle is worth it 👊🏿

Thanks Baligo! and yeah it is a fun skill to learn, but definitely comes with a load of stress 😅
Excellent work bro!
Cheers Jaxon 😁
Nice work bro! 💪🏿
Cheers 👊🏿
Congrats!
Cheers! 👊🏿
Eyyy glad I could help bro! What caused the hernia tho? Hope you recover soon!

Inspirational stuff!
Thanks! 👊🏿
i just hit straddle too. do you think you can hit a full by the end of the year?
Have you tried half lay straddle? That teaches me the open hip position really well.
Yeah I tried that with my front lever raise progressions, but ultimately banded straddle was what did it for me 💪🏿

I learnt full front lever in 3 months but somehow I can't hold back lever 🤷
That's crazy!!

Not trying to be rude or anything but what's your weight?

Yup!!
