I mow 3 yards in my small town making around 85 dollars a week. The people I mow for supply the lawn mowers because I still have a couple years until I can drive.
Keep it up I started pretty much the same way and I am growing and planning on buying a commercial stand on mower later this year. Just be ready cause at a certain point you start growing at an insane rate
I started where we would walk our mowers down the block and get rides from our parents. After 6 years in business and only one employee. We now have over 28 clients at 19 years old. Trust me, it will go fast if you intend to grow!
Great video! I’m just getting started and have 7 lawns so far. I’m still working my full time job just trying to grow my business. Thanks for the motivation.
Mr, Brian, this is good advice even for veterans of the community sometimes we can get caught up into purchases other than for business well into our years of experience, 🤟👍👍🤙✌
I’m learning a lot from your channel. I’m in the process of starting my own mowing business so I’ve been watching a lot of your videos for some tips. I’m 40 years old and going for it. Ive ran an excavator since I was 15. Thought I would try something different on my own.
Nice vid we just started our business this Feb it's been going really well with about 16 accounts. I know it's not many but we hope that next season gets us more busy👍🏼
Great points I been in business 8 years and this year by God’s grace I’m finally making a small break through. Still have a ton to learn but I’m super siked and it’s guys like you , Stanley, lawncaremillionare and a couple of others that have given me a boost to keep going to be better and better. Thank Brian really appreciate all you do.
Good timing. Retired my audacious truck for the business and picked up a proper work truck. Thanks for the video. In three years I'll go back to an audacious truck.😉
Apples are roses, all roses are 5-merous ( meaning 5 carpels-old botany term), 2 seeds per carpel, apples have ten seeds. You can awe your clientele with those tidbits.
I always keep myself clean, appearance is everything. Always blowing the grass off and using a brush. Can't help pants getting stained so I use chaps when i weedeat and in the winter I put my bibbed overalls
Brian, I'm fairly new at the landscape/snow removal business. Your videos, and some of your fellow You Tuber's, have been so helpful and insightful for a beginner. Not only on the practical aspect of doing the job but you also touch on investing on yourself and your business. Awesome bro. Much thanks form Ontario, Canada.👍
I have a rule of thumb for mowers or main equment, purchases that will set you back thousands, if you can’t pay it off in 4-6 months then it’s too expensive 👍
Perfection Lawns i think he meant don’t buy something if you can’t save the cost of the equipment in 4-6 months. If you’re financing it for 24 months at 0% that’s fine as long as you’re able to make what the item cost in 4-6 months. Not trying to come of as rude, have a great day!
Last year me and my boss would bust out 50 small yards in a day . They were trailer sized homes but they yards were decently sized. we would be going for 12 hours straight without breaks
Always enjoy your videos Brian, I know how much work goes into them and most take them for granted! You are right about the dry states Buddy... I'm in Anadarko, OK (SW OK) and we're really dry. I haven't mowed my own lawn in almost 3 weeks! Praying for rain.
That Apple line was 🔥🔥🔥 You’ve got a hell of a concept of killing shit. I work thirds and just started my own services. Your videos are my work tunes. Nothing id rather listen to more than someone with self success and looking to help others. Thanks
One thing that try to watch out for is where the mower is shooting the grass. 80% of my yards I catch year round but the 20% I don't catch I try to avoid shooting the grass towards buildings and vehicles if I can. If I have to mow one pass in reverse because I don't want a car getting covered in grass (I don't own an OCDC) then I do so. It is one thing that I feel ups the quality of the service provided. It shows to the customer that the lawn service provider cares about the customer and their property. Another thing that helps me out, that is more useful in small town lawn companies, is word of mouth. If you don't need to spend on advertising cost then the money you would have had to spend can now be reinvested into the company to produce a higher quality service. I plan to get a pickup upgrade by next season then maybe in a few years upgrade from a 48 in to a 60 in ztr. I will probably keep the 48 in since it still has its place for tight quarters but the 60 in will increase my production rate by quite a bit. I wish property density was easier in my area but in small towns you don't get the luxury of subdivisions.
My Saturdays are the worst, only 12 yards but they're giant and it's two people working, 5 bunched up and 4 bunched in another etc.. so it definitely sucks to not have the truck ride in between lawns for a break but good because you knock them out.
Thanks Brian for all that you do for us. I just purchased my first commercial mower last week. It's a 44 inch Proline floating deck. Sure you caught that, they don't make a 44 inch anymore. This one's over ten years old. It ate all my 2019 profits for the mower and new belts. For the size of lawns I cut, under 50" is perfect for smaller in town, 3k square foot lawns. Largest I cut is around 8k square foot. Brings on the question of pricing, Do you have a set square footage price sheet for your business? If so, I've not seen that video. I get tired of looking at lawns and being like, $30 or what have you. Keep up the hard work, it's paying off for you.
It's been raining like crazy in my town in Oklahoma!! Cool to hear you say Oklahoma!! Funny 2 because we are starting a huge move coming up next month!! Oh we are also going to get the back pack blower rack from equipment defender next week! We will be using Brian's 10!
you know everytime i hear your Lazer it sounds it its surging bad but then i remember its that R.E.D Technology pretty funny lol keep up the great vids man now time to hop back on my Walker ;D
I gave you a like. I love your content.always. But honestly, and no offense, I don’t get much out of watching people mow. Not trying to take the wind out of your sails. You asked for feedback. I truly love your channel and appreciate you giving so much of yourself and helping others. Thanks man!
Thanks for investing time into us. That zero turn leaves beautiful stripes. If I was to cut it with a different zero turn it mower, would the stripes be the same? Im at push mower level so I'm curious when I go to the big boy league if it's the condition of the lawns that produce a nice after product, the engineering of the mower, combination of both, or just one of these variables. If you can clear this up for me I'd appreciate it Edit: I'm on the fence from cutting with a 21" hrx217 with a big league stripe kit, to a timemaster. I have 1k saved up. However the reviews on cut quality on the timemaster have me stalled. Do I sacrifice cut quality for faster production? Or do I keep grinding for a used 36" zero turn/stander. This is the decision I need some veteran feedback on cuz I'm overthinking. Most of yards are pretty average in size.
Personally, it just depends on your goals and what you’re trying to accomplish. But I will say, a good used stander could do you a miracle for time and productivity. But that’s if you’re going the business route and trying to expand!
Brian's Lawn Maintenance thanks. I plan to make this my bread and butter. Can you address the first question as well in regards to cut quality on yards w/different mowers. Looks like that exmark turns thos3 blades into powder
does your trailer have the added height? I just bought an 8.5x16 with 6 inch added height, just curious about yours. Great channel man keep up the great work!

You have a chute blocker on your zero turn. Just wondering how ya cut between beds without throwing grass in them. Customers here in Maryland would have a stroke. Lol.
Mr. Brian, My name is Timothy and I am 11 years old and I want to start a business. I have two lawn mowers. I have not mowed any people's lawns yet, but I have mowed at the campground. Set up a Yardbook account, you can accept credit card payments through there. Since you’re just starting out you can’t be too picky on how you receive payments. You need to accept, cash, check, PayPal, Venmo, cashapp, Venmo, and credit card. Thank you all, so much for the advice!... i really do Appreciate it...I do appreciate cash, check, PayPal and google pay... so thank you all! I’ll definitely start using all the ones you Suggested.😊
Here is a tip for you if you want to reduce the grass clippings on you to where you don’t have to use a blower to blow yourself off.... leave the bagger system on your mower and allow it to blow the grass clippings behind you as you cut the grass!
Hey @Brian's Lawn Maintenance! I'm really enjoying your videos and would love some advice on valuation for a bundle of residential accounts. There are several businesses for sale in my area with equipment + anywhere from 30 to 60 accounts included. These yards probably bring in an average of $45 to $50 each per week. What do you think a fair price per yard would be if I were to purchase one of these businesses?
I’m looking to get into the lawn business. Due to I have to deal with seizures which is controlled by medicine (I have the type of seizures where I don’t black out, I can tell when I’m going to have one before the physical evidence appears). So I’ve been looking to do something where I’m not around people. So I figured if I was in the lawn business & have a seizure, I will be able to hop off the mower, wait out the seizure & then get back to work and not have to worry about someone freaking out thinking they will have to call 911.
Great video you give good information to old And new lawn care enthusiasts. I had a question about the size of the lawns that you're currently cutting in today's video to me they look like they're 200 by 300? Am I close? Keep em coming. Thanks, NE PA.

You should invest in matching uniforms for your employees. Like nice work pants and a collard button up shirt. With high vis stripes.
We do with shirts. That’s all I want at this time! Good tip tho

I don't even need cable anymore 🙂
I haven't had cable for around 5 years now
When you moved the crap on the tree lawn with the mower! I felt that personally, love it

If you can pay it off the day you buy whatever equipment it is then, that way you won't miss a payment at all.
I agree and I don’t at the same time.....for example I get a new toro 52 commercial lawn mower every 3 years with a 0% interest card
