Thank you so much Peter! That’s really really nice to hear. I truly hope everyone enjoys this and gets at least some extra fun out of the game for a little while! 😀 I’d love to hear back about any fun games you get from this!
I just played the first game with spider man vs rhino. And I built my very first deck in protection. I took a few of those ideas of yours and I whipped him. It was so fun. I even played expert (I rarely do this) and swapped out bomb scare for beasty boys for something harder. It is a smaller set (only 4 cards to Bomb scare’s 6) but created some interesting moments. I don’t think I took a single damage that entire match! This is so fun. I can’t wait to try the other heroes!
I tried colossus against Magog and won twice but I need to work on that hero more. It was rough. It didn’t help that my random modular was crime. Yikes. That got out of hand fast and I just had to steamroll into Magog. The venom and Drang was sick. I actually tried Expert Drang for the first time and beat him twice in a row. What a great matchup.
I got up to Hulk and man he just is not good. It too me forever to beat him in just standard. I honestly think I would have to build justice or something as aggression was just rough and all those darn boosts kept flipping him back. Even when I had a target acquired out it just couldn’t keep up. Yuck. He is so poorly designed. They really did a poor job playtesting him. He needs something more.
@@psovitzky yeeeeeeep. I played that matchup a few times, and I was very happy with it because it accomplished what I wanted it to do. It made Risky Business a much more interesting and difficult scenario, and it requires you to play Hulk in a way that isn’t just hoping to draw Hulk smash twice and win. But he could be so much better 😕
@@jakobvarsson840 oh, so cool! That really is one of my favorites. Ironheart with time to build up is just such a monster lol, but with the way Hela works you still can’t quite just one shot her out of the water so it’s still kinda a fair fight 😆
I look forward to playing all these. I'm working on a mini scenario that's like Arkham in the way that you proceed on to the next villain even if you lose, but you take a penalty. I have all the villains chosen and the modular sets, but not a fluid way to make the penalties thematic, yet. Anyways, I'll post it in Discord when I finish. Thanks again for the content. Keep it up!
That sounds awesome! I was toying with the idea of adding something like that to this but it was getting to be too much lol so I just decided to roll without it. I still might get around to that eventually. Looking forward to hearing how you go about it! 😀 Thanks for the kind words and I’d love to hear about any great games this leads to!!
What a great idea for a video and a list. I have printed it off so I am going to try some of the match ups. When are we going to see more of "The Multiverse Progression Saga"?
Awesome! I hope to hear about some great games! Hopefully it should be very soon. Shortly after the announcement I came down with something that seemed to hold on for a very long time and I just wasn’t feeling up to filming playthroughs. And then this video right here took up a huge amount of my time. But now that all that’s behind me, as well as a few other videos I wanted to knock out, my plan is to focus in hard on the Saga and Finer Points. If all goes according to plan Pain-Josh will be filming his Valkyrie play this week!
I love how the two heroes that made the last two villains, are the two heroes I'm currently building. I'm giving Ms Marvel Aggression a go before trying her in Justice. Even though my Captain America Leadership deck is a beast, I can't wait to switch him for Spider-Ham and watching the crazy cartoon antics pop off. I love this game
Nice! 2 of my absolute favorites. Aggression and Justice Ms Marvel is some of the most fun you can have imo, and protection is surprisingly good for her as well! And Spiderham is my number 2 favorite, so that says it all about him!
I've always wanted to love Marvel Champions, but something was missing, especially compared to its counterpart, Arkham Horror. That is, there's no sense of progression - even when I read the one page comics included in the expansions. But! Here you are with this guide and you even ordered the list in terms of villain progression. Thank you so much. You made me get up and get out Champions after so long and I've just been having a blast. Subbed.
Well this just might be my favorite comment I’ve ever gotten! That’s so amazing to hear I was able to help you find the fun in this my favorite game! Yeah it’s definitely a different beast from Arkham. They’re going for a more arcade style approach with this one and I can see how that might not be as much to everyone’s tastes. Glad this gave you the spark of continuity you were looking for! And I’m happy to report the second round of matchups including the newest wave is on the way!
@@GetUpandGameWow, thanks so much for taking the time to reply. I’ll be really looking forward to that new video of yours. I just picked Uncanny Avengers back up from hearing about the Fall of X storyline in the comics, and so I started wanting to purchase the newer heroes in Champions like Psylocke, who’s in that team, but not yet in this match-up list. And here you are with the news! Best day of 2024 so far!
@@voltarbear for sure! I really appreciate the comments so I always reply to every one ☺️ I don’t actively follow comics these days but I’ve seen a little of the stuff from Fall of X and it just looks nuts lol
@@voltarbear I’ve done a couple two handed playthrough videos, but it’s not something I do very often. But every now and then I get an idea for a deck that just won’t work in solo so I’ll put in the extra work in those cases lol. I’m sure I’ll do a few more here and there!
Right?? Has to be intentional lol. He also came with a great precon (a ton of reprints to be sure, but the deck works very well). It’s like they knew people might not be drawn to him so they did everything they could to boost him up Thanks Chris! 😊
I decided to try this, I have the whole card pool but still have several heroes I never used, or Villains I have never fought so this seems a good way to try them all, currently completed the first two games, managed to win both times (although Colossus would have lost had the game gone on a single turn longer), I will see how I go for the rest, going to try to complete them all before the next box drops
@@GetUpandGame Round one over, had a lot of fun, ended up facing drang in standard, expert and standard 2 in one go, and i ended up barely flipping to hero on wasp in her game
@@MarkBrook2 that’s awesome! Haha yeah I knew that Drang matchup might lead to needing to jack up the difficulty lol. Some of these matchups favor the heroes even more than others and Venom is so strong 💪🏽 So glad you’re enjoying it! 😄
Finished round 2, had to face Hela twice, she got me good first time, the big suprise for me was i beat master mold first time, mean swing and fusillade came in so helpful, i think i finally understand how valkeryie is supposed to work
Watched the whole vid, and its an awesome resource and will definitely download the pdf. I just got into MC a month ago, have so much content for it now, since Ive pretty much shelved some other hobbies at the moment, so I have so much to still play. Ive only just finished base villains, and still playing mostly hero precon, and testing out each to see how good they are out of the box. Great content and look forward to your next milestone video 😊
Hi! do you have a deck list for the Wolverine against The Hood match? I saw you pushed a bunch to MarvelCDB but didn't see Wolverine's Thanks for the great content
Hello! Yeah Isaiah is doing a great job of loading decks up for the matchups! I don’t think he’s to this one yet though so here’s something I just put together that would be my first pass at a deck for it: marvelcdb.com/deck/view/503854?deck_name=Wolverine Pretty straightforward, the main thing is hopefully you can flip down at least once in a deck pass (Professor x should help with that) and use the Cabin and/or Mutant Education to get the Lunging Strikes back in the deck. You might lose the main scheme at least once, but I would use Wolvie’s basic activation to thwart more often than not. Use Allies to block whenever possible. Should be fun!
Congrats on 2k subscribers! 🥳🥳🥳 I love this idea😍I'm gonna try as much as I can from this list! But who would you recommend to play vs Crossbones as I don't have Rocket? I have all heroes from first two cycles. :D
Thank you so much!! I’ve been thinking about it and I think Black Panther makes a great substitute for Rocket in this matchup. His Vibranium cards will be very helpful in removing the Experimental Weapons from Crossbones, it’s still a weapon vs weapon theme, and Panther plays very well in Justice and should be able to manage the low threat threshold main schemes 👍 I hope that’s fun for you and feel free to ask about any others! I really enjoy coming up with these lol
Great great job! I've been playing through the matchups and are having lots and lots of fun. Ironheart vs Hela was a blast! Was wondering of you have any thoughts on stand-ins. I have everything through wave 5, plus wolverine and gambit, which creates a few holes in the matchups. Do you have any thoughts on good stand-ins for Master Mold (vs Valkyrie), Project Wideawake (for Spectrum), Spiral (for Gambit), Sabretooth (for QS), another hero instead of Cyclops for Mutagen, and Shadowcat for Klaw, another villain instead of Spiral for SP//DR and Magneto for Vision? thx again 😊
Thanks! Glad to hear it’s been fun for you! Yes I’d be happy to come up with some alternatives for you. Let me think about it and I’ll get back to you! 😀
Ok how about these: Valkyrie: Tower Defense. Lots of minions for her to beat up on. She doesn’t have to worry about losing to threat. Plus it’s on the easy side and she needs easy for solo aggression. Spectrum: this was the hardest one for me to come up with the first time around. Spectrum just doesn’t have any kind of hook. So I latched on to theme for her matchup with the Sentinels and made it an aerial battle. But I’ll solve one problem with another and say that I think she would be really fun against Mutagen. Gobby throws a little bit of everything against you and she’s good at everything. Plus the original Cyke Vs Goblin fight was meant to be army vs army, and Spectrum also wants to build a good army in blue so it should play out fairly similarly. Gambit: for Spiral’s replacement you could always try what Spiral herself is meant to replace: Risky Business. The whole idea for this matchup revolves around the idea that Gambit can store up damage to unleash at the right time, and Spiral hides the same way Norman does. So Gambit can build his board state while Norman is in meetings, but when Gobby comes out to play you can blast him with Charge Counters Quicksilver would make an excellent stand-in for the Klaw battle in place of Kitty. Klaw is always trying to exhaust you with boost and encounter card effects, and he also like to stun you when he hits you. None of that should really bother Pietro too much, especially in Protection Sp//dr: I could have spiral replaced again by Risky Business as I sicced SP//DR on her for the same reason as Gambit: the ability to quickly do massive burst damage. However no one should have to play Risky 3 times so instead I think Collector 2 (Escape the Museum) could be a really good matchup for Peni. She’s a monster thwarter in Justice, and she gets access to so many readies that his many stuns and confuses shouldn’t slow her down much. She can also use Unshakeable to help in that department as well Vision: I think Hela should provide a similar experience to what I had in mind for Vision. You can hang out in Intangible and laugh in Garm’s face while you get Vivian and the house up and running. And with Hela’s high threat threshold you should be able to get back to alter ego whenever necessary to get Viv back Hope those are fun!
Thanks so much for all your content...you really helped me fine tune my deck building with your series on deck building and I cannot wait to take on this challenge list. Do you by any chance have any of your recommended decks on Marvelcdb and if so what is the name they are under? Thanks again man keep up all the great work you help keep the game fresh for us!
Oh that’s so great to hear! I’m always happy to know that I’ve been helpful lol so I appreciate you sharing! I don’t have a deck list for every one of these, but thankfully someone else in the community took the time to play through every one of these matchups and recorded the deck they used to beat them 🤯. You can find a list in this thread he posted on BoardGameGeek boardgamegeek.com/thread/3102511/page/1 I hope you have fun with the matchups! 😀 And thank you very much for the kind words, they are appreciated! ☺️
I did a playthrough of your matchups over on my channel and introducted what you are doing during the video to send some people over to say Hi and subscribe to your channel if they are Marvel Champion fans... while I have a love hate relationship with this game mostly it is a hate... so I am hoping your match system inspires me to give it a play and hope to enjoy it more... thanks...
I honestly have to disagree with you on Rocket in terms of best aspect. I think he wants tech pieces just much as Tony and can make massive use of them with his Tinker ability, etc. And they've released a lot of great protection cards that play off of that. So, my preferred way of playing Rocket is with Protection.
Hey you won’t get much argument from me! I think Rocket has a great build in every aspect, I just happen to prefer Justice both for solo in general and this matchup in particular. But protection is definitely great for him!
I didn’t forget about you,I could’ve sworn the previous owners had some paint cans in the shed or basement but I haven’t been able to find them. So I can’t confirm if it is antique green, but looking at images online it sure is close!
For crying out loud! Thanos! I do NOT like that scenario. Can you kindly share the deck you used to best Thanos with Gwen in Protection? I could NOT get it to work. I need guidance please!
It would’ve looked something like this! marvelcdb.com/deck/view/520386?deck_name=Ghost-Spider Classic perfect protection strategy, trying to weather all of his big attacks. Then getting bonuses for avoiding damage. Night nurse to counter the constant infinity stone status effects. Cheap allies to help with extra attacks. Hopefully this works for you!
@@GetUpandGame man! Knowing how much you have on your plate and yet you take the time to share a deck!!?! You are the man! Thanks Josh! I hope you and the fam have a good vacation. Take it easy, bud!
Ugh. I give up. I don’t know if I will play Thanos true solo. It just isn’t fun. The only times I ever win are in leadership and ally spam decks. I tried your deck like 3 times. Could never keep up with him. I would LOVE to see a playthrough and see what I am doing wrong. Thanks again for the deck to try!

Thanks bro The new 5 villans (lets admit it we have more due to maruders) means we can exact those match ups even more We can do 7 differnt on the run with more 7 heroes!! Thats crazy cant wait to see those
@@mabos555 hey that’s a really good point! Maybe we won’t need so many duplicates next time around 🤔. Well, technically On The Run would still be a duplicate I suppose but you know what I mean lol
@@GetUpandGameyeah that's why I wait for your update Same scenario different main villain for me it is still OK Imagine the battle between greycrow who just hates upgrades and a hero who love it a tons like rocket for example Or maybe even full nemesis battle between harpoon and Angel (especially when the nemesis comes out all the shit against him comes as well)
This is amazing! For the last 2-3 years, I tended to just play 2-3 quick games with each Champion in their pre-Con as I tried to keep up with new releases. Or one might get picked to play through a campaign box. Self-isolating with Covid this past week, I got to spend a bit more time with the X-Men (my favourite team) and your channel. Both have helped me rediscover the joys of a constructed deck. All this is to say, Thank you for putting so the time and effort into these videos. I’m going to print out this list and enjoy experiencing the heroes and encounter sets in a whole new way.
@@rorydoconnor I’m very sorry to hear you’ve got Covid 😞. But I am happy to know my stuff has got you more interested in the game at least! I’m loving the X-men myself! I played the colossus matchup and the cyclops matchup today and they were so great. So excited to see which ones we get next! Thank you for the kind words and I hope you feel better soon!
Yeah I know that one sounds weird lol, but I’ve really enjoyed it. Sometimes the matchups heavily favor the hero, and sometimes it’s more about giving the villain a chance to show off what they like to do. And both whenever possible. For this one it’s good for Wasp in that she has the opportunity to go back and forth to alter ego without losing the scheme since it goes so high. Plus since I have her in Leadership she should easily be able to obtain the free allies and be able to interact with them in interesting ways. And it’s good for Tasky because he gets to do his flipping damage more often, making him more of a challenge than he usually is. Especially when facing leadership which takes such great advantage of his free allies. That’s what I was thinking anyways! 😊
@@GetUpandGame I guess you did say perfect matchup, not easiest matchup… otherwise everyone’s easiest matchup would be Absorbing Man/Wrecking crew type villain.
@@TheVlad1616 haha yeah that’s true. And realistically there are a lot of different ways you could go really. Like Nova or Rocket could be perfect for Ultron, but I needed somewhere for War Machine and nothing else was really jumping out at me for him.

Haha me too! Now that the bottle neck that was all the work put into this is behind me I can finally get those jokers back into business 😆

This is one of the best mc videos out there. Love
@@jl3612 thank you so much! This is my favorite thing I ever made on here ☺️
So so worth the wait! What a GREAT idea! Can’t wait to play these! Congrats again for the big 2k!!!!
Thank you so much Peter! That’s really really nice to hear. I truly hope everyone enjoys this and gets at least some extra fun out of the game for a little while! 😀
I’d love to hear back about any fun games you get from this!
This is excellent! Thanks
Thank you so much!
Still the best marvel champion video ever! Many thanks for this!

Haha no worries! I’ve got each round time stamped so it’s easy to watch in 10 minute or so chunks 👍
Finished! Wow, this was amazing Josh! Congratulations! 🎉❤ Whenever I buy new cards I’ll try out these combinations 😁
@@carlosfreitas6790 thanks Carlos! ☺️
Because of your video, I just did an Ironheart Leadership vs Expert Hela match, a ton of fun, thanks! :)
Thanks for the kind words and I’d love to hear about any great games this leads to!!
@@GetUpandGame sounds excellent. I can’t wait
lots of fun ideas to try!
😁😁😁
I love how the two heroes that made the last two villains, are the two heroes I'm currently building. I'm giving Ms Marvel Aggression a go before trying her in Justice. Even though my Captain America Leadership deck is a beast, I can't wait to switch him for Spider-Ham and watching the crazy cartoon antics pop off. I love this game
Nice! 2 of my absolute favorites. Aggression and Justice Ms Marvel is some of the most fun you can have imo, and protection is surprisingly good for her as well! And Spiderham is my number 2 favorite, so that says it all about him!
Great list :) Im gonna try most of them for sure !
Thanks! I hope they’re super fun! 😀
Nearly at 3,000 now!! 🖤
So close! I can hardly believe it ☺️
I've always wanted to love Marvel Champions, but something was missing, especially compared to its counterpart, Arkham Horror.
I really appreciate the comments so I always reply to every one ☺️
I don’t actively follow comics these days but I’ve seen a little of the stuff from Fall of X and it just looks nuts lol
It is! Also I am a solo Champions player as well, and I enjoy two-handing sometimes. Is that something you’d consider making a video of?
@@voltarbear I’ve done a couple two handed playthrough videos, but it’s not something I do very often. But every now and then I get an idea for a deck that just won’t work in solo so I’ll put in the extra work in those cases lol. I’m sure I’ll do a few more here and there!
A great to do list of challenges to complete, while we wait Next Evolution drops in! Thanks Josh!
Hey yeah happy to do it! I’m sad we have to wait so long but hopefully this can help pass the time a little! 😀
Great video! Thanks for the match up suggestions! Really want to get Kang/Nebula on the table. Had never thought of that!
Thanks! And I forgot to mention the most important part of their match-up: they’re both blue wearing purple! Truly a perfect match-up 😆
I find it hilarious that with all the heroes released to date Spider-Ham is arguably the second most powerful hero in the game. Great video Josh!
Right?? Has to be intentional lol. He also came with a great precon (a ton of reprints to be sure, but the deck works very well). It’s like they knew people might not be drawn to him so they did everything they could to boost him up
Thanks Chris! 😊
Thanks for this video!
Oh very cool! I hope they are very fun for you!
I hope you’ll let me know how it’s going from time to time ☺️
@@GetUpandGame Round one over, had a lot of fun, ended up facing drang in standard, expert and standard 2 in one go, and i ended up barely flipping to hero on wasp in her game
@@MarkBrook2 that’s awesome! Haha yeah I knew that Drang matchup might lead to needing to jack up the difficulty lol. Some of these matchups favor the heroes even more than others and Venom is so strong 💪🏽
So glad you’re enjoying it! 😄
Finished round 2, had to face Hela twice, she got me good first time, the big suprise for me was i beat master mold first time, mean swing and fusillade came in so helpful, i think i finally understand how valkeryie is supposed to work
@@MarkBrook2 nice! A good game with Valkyrie is a VERY good game lol
Thank you so much! I really appreciate the kind words and I hope these games are a good way for you to get to know all your stuff!
Thank you!
Hi! do you have a deck list for the Wolverine against The Hood match?
I saw you pushed a bunch to MarvelCDB but didn't see Wolverine's
Thanks for the great content
Hello! Yeah Isaiah is doing a great job of loading decks up for the matchups! I don’t think he’s to this one yet though so here’s something I just put together that would be my first pass at a deck for it: marvelcdb.com/deck/view/503854?deck_name=Wolverine
Pretty straightforward, the main thing is hopefully you can flip down at least once in a deck pass (Professor x should help with that) and use the Cabin and/or Mutant Education to get the Lunging Strikes back in the deck. You might lose the main scheme at least once, but I would use Wolvie’s basic activation to thwart more often than not. Use Allies to block whenever possible. Should be fun!
Congrats on 2k subscribers! 🥳🥳🥳
I love this idea😍I'm gonna try as much as I can from this list! But who would you recommend to play vs Crossbones as I don't have Rocket? I have all heroes from first two cycles. :D
Thank you so much!!
I’ve been thinking about it and I think Black Panther makes a great substitute for Rocket in this matchup. His Vibranium cards will be very helpful in removing the Experimental Weapons from Crossbones, it’s still a weapon vs weapon theme, and Panther plays very well in Justice and should be able to manage the low threat threshold main schemes 👍
I hope that’s fun for you and feel free to ask about any others!
Ok how about these:
Valkyrie: Tower Defense.
So Gambit can build his board state while Norman is in meetings, but when Gobby comes out to play you can blast him with Charge Counters
Quicksilver would make an excellent stand-in for the Klaw battle in place of Kitty. Klaw is always trying to exhaust you with boost and encounter card effects, and he also like to stun you when he hits you. None of that should really bother Pietro too much, especially in Protection
Sp//dr: I could have spiral replaced again by Risky Business as I sicced SP//DR on her for the same reason as Gambit: the ability to quickly do massive burst damage. However no one should have to play Risky 3 times so instead I think Collector 2 (Escape the Museum) could be a really good matchup for Peni. She’s a monster thwarter in Justice, and she gets access to so many readies that his many stuns and confuses shouldn’t slow her down much. She can also use Unshakeable to help in that department as well
Vision: I think Hela should provide a similar experience to what I had in mind for Vision. You can hang out in Intangible and laugh in Garm’s face while you get Vivian and the house up and running. And with Hela’s high threat threshold you should be able to get back to alter ego whenever necessary to get Viv back
Hope those are fun!
@@GetUpandGame Wow, thank you so much! Sounds like very good (if not perfect) replacements indeed! 😁
@@erikalnemo4066 no problem! Haha now I wanna try some of them myself!

I did a playthrough of your matchups over on my channel and introducted what you are doing during the video to send some people over to say Hi and subscribe to your channel if they are Marvel Champion fans... while I have a love hate relationship with this game mostly it is a hate... so I am hoping your match system inspires me to give it a play and hope to enjoy it more... thanks...

Lol yep. That’s my plan for when I get to that campaign in the multiverse saga. I feel like he gives Bro Josh his best chance of getting through it
@@GetUpandGame Bro Josh, lol. I hear that guy has mad skillz.
@@mattr.9825 here’s hoping 😅
I honestly have to disagree with you on Rocket in terms of best aspect. I think he wants tech pieces just much as Tony and can make massive use of them with his Tinker ability, etc. And they've released a lot of great protection cards that play off of that.
So, my preferred way of playing Rocket is with Protection.
Hey you won’t get much argument from me! I think Rocket has a great build in every aspect, I just happen to prefer Justice both for solo in general and this matchup in particular. But protection is definitely great for him!
I’m decorating my new house atm. Is that antique green in your living room?
That is a really great question that I don’t know the answer to lol. But I should be able to find out and I’ll get back to you!
I didn’t forget about you,I could’ve sworn the previous owners had some paint cans in the shed or basement but I haven’t been able to find them. So I can’t confirm if it is antique green, but looking at images online it sure is close!
@@GetUpandGame That’s awesome thanks for looking! I’m back painting (yet again) all weekend. 🥹
For crying out loud! Thanos! I do NOT like that scenario. Can you kindly share the deck you used to best Thanos with Gwen in Protection? I could NOT get it to work. I need guidance please!
It would’ve looked something like this! marvelcdb.com/deck/view/520386?deck_name=Ghost-Spider
Classic perfect protection strategy, trying to weather all of his big attacks. Then getting bonuses for avoiding damage. Night nurse to counter the constant infinity stone status effects. Cheap allies to help with extra attacks.
Hopefully this works for you!

The new 5 villans (lets admit it we have more due to maruders) means we can exact those match ups even more
We can do 7 differnt on the run with more 7 heroes!! Thats crazy cant wait to see those

Taskmaster the perfect matchup for Wasp? Not sure I’m buying that one.
The green madman vs the green, mad, man 😂😂😂
Lol when you’re talking about 43 matchups you gotta come up with some fun intros/segue’s 🤣
Wow how crazy is it that the hardest boss in the entire game meets his match with the silliest hero lol?
Haha right?? I guess it takes an indestructible cartoon character to get the job done 😆
