Hello! Do you think the HD500 is still good? I want a helix but can not afford it and want either a hd500 or a hd500x. I would just get the hd500x but I'm worried I won't be able to use the hd500 tones.
As far as I know, the HD500 sounds the same as the HD500x. The 'x' basically means it has more processing power and nice buttons. The presets are also convertible from one format to the other device's format.
I used the most recent HD500 edit for windows (I don't have the 500X), so I don't think I can help you with macOS problems... 😅 Maybe you can uninstall it and find an older version that does work?
I did, but I returned it after 2 weeks. Couldn’t get it to “chug” like the pod. I settled for a Kemper Stage, but I would consider the Neural Quad Cortex if I had to pick something now.

I want to buy the metal HD pack but I'm worried I won't like it. I want the 5150, big bottom, and maybe the marshal. But idk. I also have the mooer brown sound 3 which is a 5153 preamp pedal.
@@MatthijsvandenHoven also would you change any of these setting using actives or just use the pad switch? Also with a real cab. Ive never used a computer for guitar stuff yet thinking of either getting a real 2x12 or a 2x12 frfr. I'm currently just using a 1x12 with a v30.
Aaron Morgan yes I think with any guitar you have to adapt the preset to that guitar specifically. I have a frfr for sale actually, because I don’t like the feel. I prefer a real 2x12.
@@MatthijsvandenHoven thanks. That helps alot. I've been tone questing for about 6 years. Very new to the modeling and kinda guitar in general. I have good guitars and ok everything else. Joyo zombie amp, precision drive, the 1x12 i mentioned, an hd500x, and the mooer preamp pedal I mentioned. I have 8 and 9 string agiles both active (8 string has blackouts and the 9 has emg 909s) and a solar 6 string.
The headphones are the AKG K-702. I connected my POD to my Focusrite 2i2 with simple line cable because windows 10 keeps crashing when I try using my POD as a USB soundcard...
You can do that by picking upward from the 1st string until the 4th with natural harmonics on either the 3rd or 5th fret. I think Whitechapel does that at least 28 times in all of their songs :)
Great tone, problem is that in a live context you're left with no space for modulation effects, etc. Sure you can create individual patches for those but again, you would have to sacrifice some of that processing and by doing so, your tone. If you are only recording who cares.

It's because the HD500 doesn't have the processing power. If I try to use the full models, it says "DSP limit reached". I probably would have used the full model if I had an HD pro x.

Post a link if you can. I don't see that amp listed in the Metal Pack.
You can honestly use the Treadplate or any Hi Gain metal amp head.

hallo.. can you recomend me or witch one is better, this hd500 or hx stomp or maybe Pod Go? for better sounding at gigs and recording. 🙏🏻
For better tones go for the pod go or hx stomp. They both use helix models. For more features and more complex capabilities go for the hd500x

What about a live tone? Are these tones suitable for live? since there is not a lot of mids?
I use the L6 Big Bottom amp with the cab simulation turned off for live sounds.

I preferred the big bottom model when using real cabs.

Why not use the full amp model?
