Thank you so much Feng for this extended video showing us the process from ground up. Really inspiring and informative. Definitely got me coming up with my own design solutions! Like vertical farms. But the most helpful part for me was addressing the misconceptions about the role and how much energy it takes! I did an apprenticeship with Anthony Jones few years ago and it was the first thing that hit me was how tired i was mentally. It really made me feel i wasn’t cut out for the job, but to have you admit this to be the same for you was really a huge relief! I’ve realised I’ve just put too much stress and pressure on myself to create those epic things but each time I wasn’t doing that first step of answering the 5 was and creating hard rules, so ofcourse I was doomed to fail! Thumbnailing and iterations can only go so far if you haven’t fleshed out the hard rules, so designs can go anywhere, which was definitely a problem i had. I only draw for myself atm because I have struggled a long time with losing that spark, but your recent videos are definitely helping to remind me why I chose concept design in the first place! That is priceless and I really am very thankful for that! Maybe one day I will make it after all! :)

Hi, thank you very much because after my two courses in artschool which were not drawing and design I learned alone with the feedback of professional friends. I have only had work for an Australian director for four years alone since then it has not been easy, I am learning to succeed in finding work through passion and have a family to support. I thank you for the time you devote to creating this free content which helps a lot to move forward, thank you very much. Ps: I live in Alsace in France so if you need reference photos don't hesitate to ask me that would be the least I can do to thank you for everything you do to others, have a nice day.

I watched these videos back when I was in uni and I'm still loving them - thank you so much for the continuos drops!
It's funny to see how my brain works - when you mentioned that it is good when we think "Maaaan why are you not doing it like this?" while drawing the houses I was kind like "ok, I like it". But when you got to Airships ( which I love ) I was like "oh you could do this!" and "this would look cool!". It really shows how being a nerd for something helps us design these things and how important it is to look at a variety of things before / while getting into design.

We can draw along side and aswell it avoid us to rush and to beat ourself up about not being fast enough just because for a long time the speed painting were very popular and it was easy to to quickly judge our work. I think that for a lot of people the long format is the best :)

Or like a mountain that actively hunts the monsters for rare bits? what about rain water collection changing the roof designs? also farm lands having to be below clouds for rain? also higher less vegetation and colder, also what about erosion? earthquakes? - just a lot of neat tangents to run around. Thank you so much for the real time video. It's my 4th time watching it since its released. I've been trying to do my own IP as well together with this video, and man I still couldn't keep up hahaha. Mostly it was because I have to stop drawing and look for more references. Gathering reference alone took a lot of time, and it really disrupt the flow. But I think the more I'm used to it, the more I can become more fluent with this process. I really enjoy this type of video because I can comfortably take my time and work instead of thinking of how slow I am compare to other artist who produce stuff in just 1 hour. Thank you for reminding me that design takes time. I really can't wait for the next two episodes! And I hope by that time I can finish all of the sketches ideas for my own IP so I'll be ready for the next step! You're an inspiration!

On listening to music/podcasts etc while concentrating: it depends on what stimulation level you can handle. Studies have been done that show that introverted people do well with less background stimulation, while extroverted people do better with more stimulation. They measured it with how many decibels of noise people felt most comfortable concentrating at. Extroverts higher noise levels, introverts less noise.
