    0:47 "To make BTZ, there's a certain process that you have to go through." Yeah. Be a kiss ass. (No offense to any BTZ recipients out there. It's just a joke.)

    Why do you always say Soldiers when your specifically talking to the Air Force..?

    I was at Osan back in 1987 and for reasons not of my own making was on the outs with the powers that be there (basically someone asked me a question and I told the truth and it revealed a SNCOs lie). Anyway the board comes but I figure they are going to give it to whoever they want so why study, I threw the book in the trash. The board comes, I make myself look spiffy cause I’m not a dirtbag and go. I answered maybe five questions right out of 25. Terrible. At least it’s over. Wait. Turns out a few troops were giving each other the questions in the restroom outside the board and someone snitched them out. I get told I have to go to the board again. I tell the first sgt im not interested, he puts the Chief on the phone and he tells me I will be there, looking sharp and answering all the questions right. I go in but answer everything in the form of a question like I am on jeopardy. The kennel chief is dying but nobody else gets it, they are getting mad at him for laughing. They ask me four questions in a row I don’t know the answer to so I’m getting kind of embarrassed. The ask another, no idea, so I say “ I’d like to buy a vowel and spin again please”. The kennel master is falling over, the board is like “what” I’m like “idk”. Last question, what do I like best about the Air Force? “The early out program”. Ok. So that’s that. Two weeks later the commander comes to guard mount and gives me the stripes. I go to the first sgt and tell him it’s a mistake. He says no it’s not. Unreal.

    +WildBlueYonder Can you go to ROTC in college and become an officer? If so, how does it work? And how does joining the Air Force Reserves and going to college (big name, not community colleges) work?

    5 level in my career field might be a little tough. Dang. Just have to try harder than everyone else from day 1 I guess. Heading out to lackland in January and cant wait.

    I have done 4 years of high school AFJROTC and I heard that if you done 4 years of high school JROTC you can get Senior Airman faster then the ones that didn't do JROTC in high school, so any answer or advice ?

    • @WildBlueYonder
      @WildBlueYonder  9 лет назад +1

      Marcus Martin No you cannot earn SrA faster when you have JROTC experience. The only benefit of having 4 years of JROTC is automatic promotion to E-3 upon completion of BMT. It doesn't affect your promotion to E-4

    How do I prepare for joining the Airforce? I'm currently working out and trying to get in shape before I even contact a recruiter. Also how about the ASVAB? You think it's good if I study for that now?

    • @ret1608
      @ret1608 9 лет назад

      IAm Taco
      Study for the ASVAB now so later it would be more easy. Buy ASVAB for dummies it works and read a dictionary here and there so you know more words. Working out is always good.

    • @WildBlueYonder
      @WildBlueYonder  9 лет назад

      IAm Taco Pretty much just study for your ASVAB, work out, stay out of any trouble, and start deciding what jobs you want to have

      Thank you so much for answering, do you think there's anything else I should prepare for? Or focus on?

    Not related to this video, but I have a question! In my brother's letter to us from BMT, he said that his job is a "unicorn" job so he didn't have the option to switch career paths...what does this mean???

    • @WildBlueYonder
      @WildBlueYonder  9 лет назад

      angelica farrar Hahaha I have no idea, ask him in your next letter :p.

    In regards to CCAF, I already have 45+ college credits and we get college credit for basic and tech school right? Will all that combined get me my CCAF degree

    • @WildBlueYonder
      @WildBlueYonder  9 лет назад

      551223 If your 45 college credits are transferable and are able to be applied to your CCAF, and then combined with your BMT credits as well, you should be close to getting your CCAF, if not, you should have it already. Some credits might not transfer over and you'll have to take classes.

    I took the practice Asvab with my recruiter and got a 72, which personally I was not happy with at all, but they said it was good. Whats a solid score to where you can basically qualify for most things?

    • @WildBlueYonder
      @WildBlueYonder  9 лет назад +1

      runek12 A 72 qualifies you for pretty much every job in the Air Force

    • @freaky_steve69
      @freaky_steve69 9 лет назад +1

      The practice asvab was a lot harder than the actual asvab, well at least for me.

    • @runek12
      @runek12 9 лет назад

      WildBlueYonder Thanks for the quick reply! I have heard no calculator on the asvab is that true? Most of the math is pretty basic, brushing up on my long division / multiplication by hand etc. just to be safe.

    • @WildBlueYonder
      @WildBlueYonder  9 лет назад

      That's true. You won't need it though, it's basically algebra and mental math.

    • @javilamaravilla
      @javilamaravilla 9 лет назад

      WildBlueYonder runek12 Thats not true. Your AFQT score or "ASVAB" score is just to know if you are competent enough to join. So your AFQT score doesn't play a role in what jobs are available to you. Although, your MAGE(Mech,Admin,Gen,Elect) scores and your physical does come into play in what jobs you qualify for. For instance, Someone with a lower AFQT score than yours but with better MAGEs will qualify for more jobs than you.

    This is off topic from the video but. I was planning on suspending my cell phone service while in basic to save about 200 bucks. will i still be able to make phone calls at basic if i do this

    • @Recokulous
      @Recokulous 9 лет назад +1

      I also am kinda in the same boat. I leave a month from today and don't really know what is the best thing to do yet.

    • @WildBlueYonder
      @WildBlueYonder  9 лет назад +2

      Brandon Rowe Yes you can do that. You'll have to buy a phone card to use the phone booths. And if you don't have a cell phone during a cell phone privillage call (they hand out cell phones so we can all make calls) then you'll be able to use a landline or the payphone. The cards are prepaid but less expensive than the average phone bill.

    • @WildBlueYonder
      @WildBlueYonder  9 лет назад +2

      George Adams Oh, no you don't. You get credits towards your CCAF when you graduate tech school
