  • Fancy me
    Thought I had my degree
    In life and how love
    Ought to be a run
I had a one step plan to prove it
Guide in my pocket for fools
    Folly and fun
Love had to show me one thing
I was so right (so right)
    So right
    Thought I could turn emotion
    On and off
    I was so sure
So sure (I was so sure)
    But love taught me
Who was, who was, who was the boss
    I'd defy
    Anyone who claimed that I
    Didn't control
    Whatever moved in my soul
    I could tempt
    Touch delight
Just because you fell for me
    Why should I feel uptight
Love had to show me one thing
I was so right (so right)
    So right
    Thought I could turn emotion
    On and off
    I was so sure
So sure (I was so sure)
    But love taught me
Who was, who was, who was the boss
    Love taught me
    Taught me
    Taught me
    Taught me
I was so right (so right)
    So right
    Thought I could turn emotion
    On and off
    I was so sure
So sure (I was so sure)
    But love taught me
Who was, who was, who was the boss
(Taught me who was, who was the boss)

That’s the way it’s done boys and girls. No backup dancers all over the stage, no auto-tune, no flashy gimmicks. What you have is the high energy and commanding stage presence of a wonderfully talented singer and entertainer, loving what she’s doing and knowing she has the audience eating from the palm of her hand. And kudos to Ashford and Simpson for writing this song for Ms. Ross!

    • @you_can_call_me_T
      @you_can_call_me_T 2 года назад +9

Just a 100 piece orchestra, audience members dancing on stage, and a guy roller skating all over the place lol. I agree, more performers back then could stand flat footed on a stage alone and own the room. But this particular performance wasn't without gimmicks.

@@you_can_call_me_T 😂🤣🤣 You are too much! I wasn't paying attention and even went back to the beginning. She came out in that big time sparkling flowing outfit. It at first sounds like the audience is thinking some guy got on stage (as he didn't have a light at first). This is disco and definitely gimmicky

This was perfection at it's finest and best. Untouchable, unpredictable Ms. Ross worked the entire stage and her vocals were just unbelievable for a live show. Her body flawless, makeup was just beautiful and any hand gestures were just inspiring for feature divas to know how to do it. This was the blueprint TV concert and it looked and sounded amazing on all levels. Lady Di is just one of the Queens of entertainment. I love her so much.....American Royalty

My favorite song by her, and she NAILED it , the sound was excellent, the energy was empire state building high, and i wish i was there. Fantastic. And her back up singers, the Eddie Kendricks singers were off the chart. Amazing vocalists. That was a time when there was no such thing as lip syncing during a concert. You had to deliver and Diana Ross delivered and then some..

Just saw Diana in Atlantic City NJ and I will tell you at mere months away from her 80th birthday, she is still absolutely amazing. She still commands the stage with her beauty, elegant style and yes, still powerful voice. She is the voice of a generation. The truth is, there were so many amazing and talented people who came out of Motown. If you have not seen Diana Ross live. You must do it. It is worth every penny to see music royalty.

If you've never heard Ashford & Simpson sing The Boss, look it up on RUclips, they sing it live. Valerie Simpson clearly influenced and guided Diana Ross on how to sing the song. In their version they literally take the song to church. One of my all time favourite songs.

Yes Miss Ross is the Boss. Her charisma and stage presence is just contagious. She was so energetic and had this ease in connecting with her audience and took them on a journey with her. Not everybody can do that. It was those qualities that made her a star. I read many people saying she wouldn’t have been successful had she not got together with Berry Gordy. Sure, he may have given her opportunities - but it was Diana’s tenacity as a woman and her work ethic and stage presence that kept her successful for so many years. Berry may have got her a seat at the table, but Diana’s star quality kept her there. No-one can take credit for that, you either have it or you don’t.

Every last one of my Barbie's were named Diana Ross; even the white and Hispanic ones!😄 I remember watching the concert in Central Park on our floor model tv with my coat hood on for hair and a brush for a mic. Couldn't tell me nothing!😄😄😄
