I had a sparring partner that was VERY good at timing this kick and not telegraphing it - had me on the mat gasping for air more times than I care to admit - he always used the heel, and he always aimed for the thoracic diaphragm. It was the complete extention of the leg - that extra push described in the video that did it, I'm convinced. Get the wind truly knocked out - fight is over.
Thank you :) My advice if you are struggling is to watch the most basic version of the kick and learn that before advancing to a more advanced version of the kick. Good luck :)
Great tutorial. I am practicing this kick daily and using it in sparring often. I'm finding it very easy to land off of a punch (since I am obviously in range).
It makes more sense to aim for the body as it's a bigger target but you can kick to the head as i say in the tutorial :) Appreciate you saying that. Thank you and greetings :)
It can do yes. Normally you will have a slight bend in your punches and kicks but it is very minimal and your leg should be extended close to full for better range and maximum power :)
Just started WTF Taekwondo in February. Because of the different levels in our class our master can't always take time to explain the moves in detail. I've been watching your videos to get the details down. Thanks for the time and effort you put into them!
Thank you :) My advice would be to practice your jump without the kick to strengthen your legs, plus you will learn how to take off and land on the ground safely. Most people struggle with jump spin kicks because of the amount they have to think and do during them. Practicing this way will give you awareness, stronger legs and a safer take off and landing until you are ready to add the kick. Hope that helps and good luck :)
No problem :) It depends on the person and the position of them when you launch the kick. It is very effective but i do like to target the plexus and ribs too :)
No problem. I'm glad you liked it. One word 'plyometrics'. Type it in youtube and look at some drills. Not just martial arts ones either. Basketball ones are great. Good luck :)
I recently started watching all of your tutorials, and I have to say you have cleared up a LOT of the technical questions I've had about certain kicks. I can see almost an instant improvement on my technique when performing these kicks. Now that I have the right technique, I can continue to grow as a student! Thank you for the informative Tutorials and keep them coming! :D
Thank you,i really appreciate you,if you wouldn`t think about do these tutorials, now i wouldn`t be good in tkd,but a good man taught me on youtube, thank you a lot
This kick is one of the best kicks, I don't know why ppl don't use this kick in mma. With good accuracy and timing this kick will take out someones ribs no matter what size they are.
Awesome! When I practice Taekwondo, I imagine myself doing the techniques as well as you do them. This is probably one of my best kicks, and you still do it much better! Respect
GNT i watch alot of taekwon-do itf and taekwondo wtf videos and u are by far the best teacher. Love to see u focus on sparring techniques with a partner in future videos. Yes ive seen your past vids but i d like to see more.
You are a true source of inspiration man! Your tutorials makes me wanna work harder to improve and be the best i can be! I train in WTF- Taekwondo and just started Asihara-karate as well! Thanks a lot! OSU!
It's a good kick and that's true but when you are at a high level, the person you are against are very skilled too so it is quite risky for them to try in MMA, hence why it's rarely used. Good luck with your training :)
Hey ! i must say thanks alot for the tutorials that u make, it has improve my teakwondo. I wonder if u could make som poomsae tutorials so i can preform it much batter =). Btw thx again !

Hi. To help people that are struggling with techniques. It doesn't ruin my business, people will always need motivation and want to be taught by a person so they understand it even better. Also, where is the sense of achievement for someone that learns just off the internet and doesn't grade? Plus, there's a lot more that i haven't put on here and most of you i will never see so i might as well help a little :) I appreciate that you care, not many do these days so Thank You :)
Haters going to Hate. Some people are even childish enough to dislike because of an association but we can't change them so i don't lose any sleep over it and carry on enjoying my life :)
For real, I am so impressed with your teachings. I am almost catching perfection in kicking. You have made me to enjoy martial arts and to see it easy to accomplish. Thanks

I do it too, but I can't throw the kick, why do you think?
Not that I do TKWD, but this looks like a really good teacher and practitioner.
