Rob was trained in opera while he was college but had not sung it for 15 years. Austin was trained in Musical theater but his college teachers tried to get him to sing opera. Austin had to push Rob into doing this, they were afraid of how their fans would react. The response has been overwhelmed positive. Thank for your reaction and you have a blessed day.

Heck, they earned themselves a fan just because I grew up listening to opera via my dad and his obsession with it...although I admit I wasn't truly appreciative of operatic singing till I got into "Phantom of the Opera" at 15. My dad's into Wagner. If I were to choose, I'm more into Verdi and Puccini. I'm not much of a country fan, but Home Free crosses a lot of musical bridges, so Rob and Austin won me over. 😁

Rosalie you have just scratched the surface of these guys. As you have noticed, they each have their own "work" outside of Home Free. With all of these talents brought together it is amazing. I STRONGLY suggest you react to "Brothers in Arms" and "Mayday" as a two-for-one reaction since they both start with Tim Foust and show off why each of the Home Free members are stars in their own right. If you want to see Rob explore different genres, he raps in "The Butts Medley/Remix" and sings blues in Home Free's cover of "End of the Road".

Puccini aria’s are incredible, Nessun Dorma is my favorite tenor aria, heard it the first time in the movie Witches of Eastwick, of course sung by Pavarotti. Rob blew me away, he has been hiding his gorgeous dramatic tenor voice for 15 years, I am so thrilled that they did this. Pronunciation is perfect with both, Austin is very good in this, much more lyrical tenor. I have loved Home Free for years, just another reason to love them.

Part of the fun with Home Free is discovering what they will do next. All of their songs and videos are well done. They like you ,give their own spin to their covers. With the release of Rob and Austin singing opera, no one knew what to expect. Again it was a surprise! Not a surprise that these guys are talented, but gee these guys can sing opera too. Tim Foust gives a similar surprise when on a video he sings tenor, baritone, and bass (and all of them between) solo in one song . These guys are amazing.

Some HF songs to add to your list: “End of the Road “, Rob lead, “I Can’t Outrun You “, Chance lead( the baritone/bass), and pure 5 part harmony, “Helplessly Hoping”, more 5 part harmony, “Do You Hear What I Hear “, an amazing arrangement by the percussionist Adam, and 2 for fun; “Champagne Taste(on a beer budget), Tim lead, and he also wrote it), and “Butts Remix”, a hilarious mashup. Actually, I’ll add 2 more…”Cover Me Up”, another gorgeous Chance lead, and “Take Me Home Country Roads”, a beautiful rendition of the John Denver song. Truly, there hasn’t been a bad song yet.

The thing that's great about our guys is that you never know what they're going to do. They very well could have gone a comedic route and they'd have made it a killer version that way too. No matter what they do, the musicality never suffers. Another song from Austin's channel that I would recommend that showcases his musical theater training is Bring Him Home from Les Miserables. It's gorgeous! One of the 1st comment sections that I was reading on this video, there was a man from Italy and he commended them on their proper pronunciation in Italian. I thought that was a huge compliment! Thanks for another wonderful reaction.

As you dive deeper down the HF rabbithole, you'll come to appreciate their range and diversity...individually and collectively....as they evolve and grow their impressive vocal abilities. Even those of us who are long-time fans continue to be surprised.

Great Reaction! I have never been a fan of opera except maybe some Andrea Bocelli & a few others. But I have always appreciated the talent it takes to sing opera. I was pretty impressed with Rob & Austin's version of Nessun Dorma. I have heard this famous song done by Pavarotti. I think I was more surprised by Rob's range & powerful delivery than even Austin's. Pretty good for a couple of country boys! Nice to see them dressed up in suits & looking classy.

You know what I find funny-odd. In their normal range of songs, Austin's high tenor can tend to overpower Rob's lighter tenor sound; however, in this one Rob complete drowns out Austin at the end with that powerful operatic tenor. I honestly struggle to here Austin in the last line.

    • @drieuxkoeppel4157
      @drieuxkoeppel4157 2 года назад

I used to feel the same about opera. My late, great Mom convinced me to see “The Magic Flute” by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (my favorite composer). The clincher is to watch and listen to opera with OPERA TITLES. After I saw and experienced “The Magic Flute”, I then saw another Mozart opera, “Don Giovanni”, with a fantastic singer doing the lead. Amazing. Then I saw Puccini’s “La Boheme”…and I was hooked. “Rent” is based on “La Boheme”…I’ve branched out to others-“The Ring Cycle” by Richard Wagner…which is immensely long but oh my goodness! It was great! Glad I gave opera a chance!!

Rob had sang Opera but he hadn't done it in 15 years. Austin was trained in musical theater but his teacher tried to push him into Opera. Austin had to convince Rob to do this Aria. They slayed it. For an in-depth reaction and Analysis too they're singing I have provided a link to a channel titled bass singer reacts in the gentleman's name is Peter Barber. He is a trained opera singer and because they are doing it so well and he gives them major props for this he reacts to it as an opera singer would so things like diction and carrying a note and mouth position. I learned an awful lot from it. Once again because they did such a good job what the things he points out are little nitpicks to and opera singer would sound like. I loved your reaction I'm going to check your catalog and see if you react to the songs that I enjoy. But I really enjoyed this. As far as When a Man Loves a Woman we will agree to disagree on that. Opinions exist and therefore they have a right to exist even if it is different from your opinion. Here is the link

Thanks for the reaction, just like you, I was floored by this performance... Not that as a home fry I had any doubt about their vocal ability or reach because I know they're fantastic.. but Opera is just a completely different beast vocally. The recommendation of Brothers in Arms I support... But it is an incredibly emotional song, heavy stuff, so reading up a bit beforehand on the circumstances and the why Mark Knopfler of Dire Straits wrote it will be helpful. And you might as well listen to the original... there is pain and suffering in every riff and note coming out of Knopflers' guitar... It's more of a hymn than a song and Home Free do a fantastic job with it.

Austin does have a musical theater background. He's from Georgia and most of the time I do hear the South in his voice. This is the second number where I don't hear it. (I wonder what Italian with a Georgia twang would actually sound like.) The other exception is Austin's "solo" rendition of Bring Him Home from Les Miz. Filmed in his house with his friend Sebastian Douyon on piano. Both of those songs give me chills every time I watch him perform them with total fascination.

There is a vast difference between an operatic voice and and a stage and theater voice. Rob's is operatic while Austins doesn't have the same power or command of the genre. Who is the more talented? It all depends what you are asking them to do? As a show band, Austin is your guy; looks, presence, energy, raw talent. As purely a musician dedicated to his craft, Rob is the real thing.

    Great reaction!!!
This is insane. It is extremely good. Fantastic. Both are doing great. But Rob, I'm perplexed. His voice is just magical, so rich, so warm, so powerfull. Chills just ran through my body. It flows into my heart. For me he will be able to stand with the greatest of opera singers. It's not often that I listen to songs by opera singers 5 times and more in a row. But here it is. Of course I hope that both will always continue to do Home Free, but I wouldn't think it wrong that such "trips" are made more often. Opera, country, ballads, soul etc. I think anything is possible..
Listen from Home Free: "How Great Thou Art", "End of the Road", "Take me Home, Country Roads", "Mayday" , "Butts remix". etc. At Home Free there is no permanent lead singer. They try out which voice best fits the song.

In one of their interviews they said usually one of them will bring a song to the group and they will say either "I would like to sing lead." or "I think should sing lead." and most of the time the rest of the group will agree.
When they don't agree, they will usually record different members on the lead, listen to them all and then pick one.
From what they said, the latter doesn't happen very often.

We fries have a saying give HF a phonebook and they will make it a nr.1 hit , they have 150 official music videos [ 151 dropping today ] and there´s not a bad song on that list , i love all their covers but their originals will always be at the top of my playlist here´s a couple of requests for their funny side please react to -- CHAMPAGNE TASTE ON A BEER BUDGET followed by FULL OF CHEER . Much love from a danish fry/new sub ❤❤❤

So glad it was impressive. You're just on the rim of the rabbit hole and I can't wait for you dive in with a dozen or so songs in your playlist. After "Brothers in Arms" "How Great art Thou," "Flowers on the Wall," "Unchained Melody," Are all great and impressive A Capella harmonies to listen to. Great reaction and analysis, Rosalie.

Brothers in Arms is amazing and Mayday also. Any of the songs listed in the comments will be good to react to. In the Blood is a deep and emotional song that might be interesting in your capacity as a psychologist and it's sung so beautifully with Tim and Chance and Rob on the chorus. The percussion is simple & restrained. Helplessly Hoping is also amazing and truly showcased their talents, skill and the harmonies are divine. Great reaction

Enjoyed your analysis/ reaction. One nice thing about Austin, Rob, and the rest of Home Free is regardless of how goofy or how serious they act, the vocals never suffer. It may not be a favorite, but always play tribute to the original, put their spin on it, have great harmonies, and never need Autotune. Because of your psychology background, I would recommend Home Free's cover of In The Blood (originally by John Mayer). Not only beautifully sung, but the psychological aspect of the song deserves to be explored. (Zero humor, as appropriate.) Looking forward to your reaction to Brothers In Arms.

My favourite version of Nessun Dorma is the video that someone merged The Three Tenors and Il Volo , quite amusing that Placido Domingo was singing with the Three Tenors, then he was conducting the Il Volo part, it's worth having a look. But Austin and Rob has had more reactors gobsmacked than I can count, they did such a good job, I love it. Maybe you would like to watch Home Free and Peter Hollens singing Amazing Grace, Tim shows off some of his vocal range

Great reaction. I was stunned (even though I shouldn't have been) that this turned out as great as it did. You said at the end Brothers in Arms is next Home Free review. May I suggest that right after that while the vocals from that song are fresh in your mind, hop onto their cover of Mayday (whether you react or not-although I would prefer to see your reaction). I believe they will amaze you once again!

from "Home Free" to listen to on the first
day of winter. Actually, they have songs for every occasion, so my hope is that you
will react to "Winter's Song". Adam does
wonderful imitation of a winter wind.

So glad you reacted to this piece...they are my absolute faves. They've done awesome IMO, especially since Austin's education is in Musical Theater and Rob studied opera, but has a hiatus of 15 years. Another video they've done that's somewhat different is Brothers In Arms, a Dire Straits cover. My favorite R&B piece by these guys is Boyz2Men's End Of The Road. Have you reacted to anything by Chris Stapleton, particularly Tennessee Whiskey. Chris is actually country, but it's country R&B and he does a great job.
