Glass Sculptures That Can Take Years To Make

- These are glass sculptures made by Cold Glass artisan Jack Storms, He is known as "one of just three standout cold glass craftsmen.
Unlike traditional glass artisans, who use flame & heat to make glass malleable, allowing them to mould it to a desired shape, Jack does not use heat, he cuts, polishes and laminates, until the glass pieces shine like mirrors.
It all starts with that coloured cube glass core. Working with blocks of lead crystal, he cuts them several times, grinding and polishing each slice. Then, with the precision of a surgeon, he inserts slivers of coloured di-chroic glass between them at every stage, pausing to glue and cure them before repeating the process. The end result Glass core, emits a kaleidoscope of colors, which looks like the glass equivalent, of a rubics cube.
This core is then encased, in sculpted optic crystal, he then hand-sculpts the final piece to the desired shape on a cold press lathe. The Optical Crystal helps with refracting the light passing through the sculpture, and creating a hypnotic light show of colors.

You can actually buy a kind of a film that you can put on your windows that capable of making just that. It scatters the light that goes through it.

This man is the most gifted sculptor on the planet. It doesn’t seem possible to create such amazingly beautiful pieces of art. One of my goals is to own a piece of his sculpture one day. He is just so incredibly talented.
It's inspiring that he continues make more and more beautiful pieces in spite of injury.
yeah it's one thing to lose a hand or foot to an injury, but to lose 1 eye from the 1 thing you do every day as a career, I am not sure if I could continue doing it after that as losing your last eye to a similar injury would be too much to take.

Stunning! I want one, actually another. When I was young, I'd one in my collection. It used to sit next to the window & early in the morn the sun used to play with it. Rainbows, lots of colourful lights were dancing in my room. I still remeber those reflexions. My friends believed that lovely piece of glass came from another planet! Those pieces are amazing, they almost look supernatural.
These cubes have a special meaning all over the world, some kind of deep meaning. Even on one of the poles of Saturn looks like a tilted cube. Trippy.
If had met such a beautiful woman as Yamamoto Akane, namely her kirikane designs on glass. Then they could create the truly greatest masterpiece of glass and gold.

Expert Master Class Glass Sculptor - his pieces are like how the Bible describes the floor in Heaven that appears like glass and gold with water, more translucent than the waters in tropical island nations. Those pieces are Splendid Master Splendor.

Only a few people can afford the equipment to do these works of art. Making glass pieces flat, square, and parallel isn't so difficult when you have a half million dollars worth of machinery to help you.

I think it's super impressive that only a handful of people do this type of work and especially this artist who perfected his technique, especially having an injury that made him lose sight in one of his eyes and still continuing to make beautiful sculptures. It's simply Stunning and Amazing work and if I ever come into a lot of money I would definitely buy one of his expensive pieces

they are so beautiful it hurts to think of the price tag and know they are worth every penny if not more . i hope he has a herd of creative loyal dedicated apprentices there learning his craft while he takes every precaution to protect his remaining eye even if it means having a special apprentice that follows him around in full riot gear mask shield and all ready to leap between him and twenty pounds of flying glass perfection at the drop of a hat .

Everyone: There was a series for children, 20 years ago, called "Insektors".
In one of the episodes there was exactely such a thing, in a really deeply impressive, "mystical" szene:

Unfortunately the quality here on RUclips is much to low, to transfere the spirit of this szene adequately, but I can tell, that the quality on TV was much higher and the effect much more impressive!
