D.P. Gumby (Michael Palin) enters the office of a brain specialist. He bangs on the desk's bell in order to get the specialist's attention, and when the specialist fails to arrive Gumby starts banging on the desk harder and harder until he smashes it. At that moment, the brain specialist (John Cleese) arrives, and turns out to be another Gumby, wearing a white coat over the standard Gumby attire. Doctor Gumby greets D.P. Gumby, who asks to know whether he's the brain specialist. Doctor Gumby thinks it over, before telling D.P. Gumby that he isn't the brain specialist, before remembering that he actually is the brain specialist a few moments later. D.P. Gumby then complains that his "brain hurts," which prompts Doctor Gumby to try and diagnose him by opening his trousers. When D.P. points out that he means the brain in his head, Doctor Gumby "diagnoses" him by slapping him on the head a few times, then decrees that the brain must be removed, "All the bits of it." Dr Gumby then yells "Nurse!", despite the nurse (Lyn Ashley) appearing behind D.P. Gumby.
D.P. is rushed to a brain surgeon (Graham Chapman), who initially appears "normal", i.e., not a Gumby. He puts on his gloves, then his glasses, then his moustache, and finally his handkerchief. Now looking and acting like a Gumby, the surgeon leads his team in operating on D.P. Gumby. The team (who seem to share Doctor Gumby's belief that the brain is located somewhere in the abdomen) briefly work on him with a variety of hammers and other tools before D.P. wakes up and happily greets them. The team realise they've forgotten the anaesthetic and call out for the anaesthetist (Terry Jones), who swiftly arrives by crashing through the wall of the operating theatre.

Our dental care is better than the US, not only is it free but we don't have to wait an excessive length of time for an appointmen AND the wait times at the dentist are actually fantastic, because they do their job efficiently and professionally... for FREE.
I see a doctor in the UK when I want and it's free I don't go bankrupt homeless and in massive debt like in the US
@@I_Crit_My_PantsYou are living in the past. the NHS has been wrecked. In my area it impossible to get to see a National Health dentist unless it is an emergency. To see a doctor you will run the gauntlet of the receptionist and end up with a nurse or a telephone appointment after a fortnight. For a face to face consultation you typically have to wait three weeks. Hospital routine surgery waiting times are 6 months to a year or longer.
Ten years ago I could seen my local doctor without an appointment it I was prepare to wait, typically about 15 -20 minutes AND they were on call. Now if you ring you are told to ring 999.

I've always wondered about this clothing. It looks more like Bavaria than England, I've never seen an Englishman dressed like this. I haven't seen a German dressed like this either to be fair.
The Python costume designer Hazel Pethig said she based the Gumby costume on what the old men wore to the beach in the seaside town where she grew up, with a handkerchief to keep the sun off their heads!
