    Cane Corso and Presa Canario are two different breeds of dogs originated in two different European countries. If someone is not very familiar with both these breeds, it is possible to confuse the breeds. The similarities of the breeds doesn't stop there. Both breeds have similar history and performed similar work. Both breeds were reimagined in the 1980s.

    The aesthetics of a Presa is just more appealing to me. They have more of a handsome face and athletic build. Their stride when walking is graceful as of a cat. Not a fan of the droppy face of corso’s and their height/width body ratio. I have a 3 year old black brindle Presa and about to get two more in reverse brindle.

      that's because the majority of the supposed corso's of today are americanized and have hardly any traditional italian cane corso blood in them,they are mostly neapolitan,rottweiler,bull mastiff mixes and they just call them cane corso,no way you will find an authentic italian corso male weighing more than 120lbs and these american versions go up to 150lbs and sometimes even more,the real italian ones have far less bulk and bone mass and are lean and athletic...also i have seen many presa's that look like pitbull mixes just like some shown in this vid E.g. 1:35....i higly doubt that's 100% presa...looks like a pitbull mix to me,short legs and stocky

My friends all want to get one but have advised them not to unless they are able to take the time for one. Not a dog for everyone, ive raised numerous breeds form great danes, springer spaniels to Cane Corso. All amazing breeds with different unique skills, personalities to temper.

    These dogs are not even comparable, they are totally different in temperament. Presa is so much harder and aggressive dog and especially much more dominant. I like both breeds and have experience of both, and of course the line of the dogs matter. But in these case its to big difference. I love Presa but its a serous dog, that can be very dangerous in wrong hands. My friend have a company that secure industrial places in night time with dogs, mostly Kangal and Alabai but even boerboel and mastino mixes. Hes female Presa have already killed 3 of those dogs. She is from very hard working line. You might compere Cane corso with a Rottweiler as best. But a Presa is from another planet.

      We own a female Malakli, a female Presa Canario, and a male Boz Shepherd. Our Presa is definitely intense and plays really well with the male Boz whose a giant. Our Presa ended up with major genetic issues and is a dwarf so she is much shorter than she should be. However as for intensity to protect and absolute fierceness nothing compares to our Malakli. She’s very calm and stoic and much more serious than the other two. She doesn’t play like they do. She’s a wonderful gentle giant, as they all are. However, when she thinks there’s something she needs to be “on” about you’ve never seen anything like it and the other two get told to back off as it’s her job first. They’re both intense but in completely different ways, and the Malakli reigns over all imo.

    Love both Breeds.
    Cane Corso are a Formative Breed for Family as Guard Dog and make great Companions for Family.
    The Presa are more work to dail them in. My family has had 3 of them. I currently own Female PRESA around year old and She is coming around. I'm familiar with Breed. There at a different Level from my experience. They have Switch like a Dogo Argentino. Presa are a Serious Dog. Corso is as well from my experience earlier. My friend has Cane Corso. My Female is Dominate
    And Confident at year old at 110lbs and growing. Mother is 140lbs . Father alittle shorter at withers but 150lbs. Alot Dog. Presa are Lovable and Sweet towards my family and have been Socailized which is vital. As far as Protection.

    • @butkusfan23
      @butkusfan23 7 лет назад +2

      Israel Nieves Um, no. "most" dogs cannot be happy and actually thrive in an apartment.
      Border collies, heelers, and tons of other hunting/herding/working/sporting breeds were bred to cover miles and mikes a day over rough terrain. They need to run and most need to have a job.
      Some dogs, even some big dogs, can live in a small apartment. But many will be miserable. And most will get bored and frustrated and destructive.
      Actual breeders, dog experts, and animal lovers will tell you that dogs need space. "living" and "thriving" are very different things.
      A human being can live in a tool shed. That does not mean they will actually thrive, be physically and mentally healthy and happy, and live up to their potential. Juat becauae you can get away with keeping a dog in a small space does not mean you should.

    Its like comparing processed American cheese slices to the real cheese.
    Simply put the presa canario is a more functional dog(can be used for hunting, guarding/defence, cattle work, etc.) than the cane corso, the presa canario is also looks better in appearance due to them having a more natural looking, powerful and functional head ( they have full scisscor bite and very strong and thick jaws and zygomatic arches, but cane corso has a slight undershot from the boxer dog influence during the breed recovery years in the 80s and 90s). Thats why some of cane corso breeders have used presa canario in their bloodline in the early days to fix their problems, and bandogge breeders using presa too. Cane corso and bandogge are often influenced by having Presa Canarios in their bloodlines.

I have had many breeds in my lifetime and I just recently lost my 8 year old Cane Corso to cancer and I know in my heart I will never know another dog that loves me as much or is as loyal as he was. I disagree that these dogs do fine outside. The Corso needs their humans and experience anxiety and depression when separated for long periods of time. They have a tremendous need to please and impress their owner. They love their family but bond specifically with one.

    I am very fond of the CC and am looking to get one in the future. However I live in an apartment and I’d like to ask the opinions of owners who’ve successfully raised these beautiful dogs in apartments. Also I have a Maltese. Would there be any potential dog aggression?

    • @HimalayanBat86
      @HimalayanBat86 4 года назад +2

      Yes there would be a lot of aggression

    • @hrobert745

      I agree. First, only have dogs of opposite sex, second, dogs must be about equally matched in size and strength. Your little dog could be badly injured even in play with such a big strong dog.

    Mighty fine video. I reckon I'd fancy the Cane corso over the Presa canario. That’s not to say that the Presa isn’t a fine dog also. It just seems to me that the Cane corso has the better design in body structure. They seem like they are better built. Presa canarios seem to be a bit too wide like at 0:50. But then we see the cane corso at 1:04 and can see nicely put together dog. The Cane corso is straight-legged and lean with no exaggerated features. They are built much more like American Pit bulldogs, which folks know are mighty fine working/purpose dogs especially for gripping/catch work. I don’t mean to stereotype, but it is usually more agile dogs with no exaggerated features that tend to be the more swell working/purpose dogs than those that are wider/bulkier with exaggerated features.

      Static Surge: I suppose it might depend on what you're looking for. I'm not the ultimate expert on these breeds, but the Corso is obviously a bit more slender and athletic and the presa a bit heavier and more powerful, by the standards anyway. I read a post from a rancher on another site who had had both breeds and he contended that the presa worked better for him because he described it as being a bit harder, which I took to mean tougher, for what that may be worth.

      @zareth-shahar 7 лет назад +3

      I know what you mean but the Presa shown at 0:40 are really the "show" type. Try checking out working Presa such as Coe de Casa Del Presa - a more realistic body type for work and athleticism/balance. The one at 0:50 is wide because it is large and short.

    • @Prime_Legend
      @Prime_Legend 7 лет назад +1

      True, there's two type of presa's. Working type which care about how the dog functions and the show type who care about looks so make them shorter and less healthier, just like the American bullies

    • @danpit2001
      @danpit2001 7 лет назад +1

      Pressa's are built more for the intended purpose of catching and holding thats why they have a broader chest and a more "bulldog" like front end where Corso's are built more for running distances while hunting its right there in the name Cane (dog) Corso (course) as in coursing the running down of prey with dogs like rabbits with greyhounds its like the difference between a Olympic wrestler (Pressa) and a gymnast (Corso) both are strong and powerful athletes its just a different sport

    I had 4 st.bernards 2 male and 2 female they all met death due to old age, they were of the warm temperament towards the strangers but very loving towards the family. Due to their big size we used them as a guard dog and a faMily pet. Are these dogs family friendly as I am planning to buy them

    • @NicolePoliskey
      @NicolePoliskey 7 лет назад +3

      I would say the Cane Corso. I raised mine with 5 children and if you ask most owners, they will tell you they are loyal and loving. The Presa is a bit more inconsistent because of it's young history, but I am sure with a responsible breeder you could get a dog with a good family temperament. I am biased to the corso because mine was the love of my life!

      depends on the dog's character, but if you want to have a peacefull relationship I advice the opposite sex and get a pup (a real italian corso is costly though) so you can socialise it properly, but a cane corso is not a household pet , they need a job to do, if you can not give them a job , better of getting another dog, in my personal experience this is not a city dog unless if you are a very experienced dog owner, I am talking about cane's , don't know alot about presa's but I imagine this will also apply to them.

    I do not think it is fair to either of these breeds to ask them to live in an apartment- no matter the # of walks. It is like asking us to live in a cardboard box and to be happy with it. It is not responsible to have either of these breeds live in an apartment setting- ever. If you need a couch dog- get a French Bull dog and leave these beauties to someone who can give them what they deserve- a large yard they can run around in....please do not ever have one of these in an apartment...it does not bring out the best in either breed...great videos!! The Presa was owned by a psycho lawyer team in San Francisco. The one that ate that poor woman. My mother is very good friends with the vet that testified. He tried several times to tell these people that they are a liability living in an apartment- it will not end well for anyone...sadly he was right....people can be such idiots about dogs...

    I have an Italian Cane Corso and she is better than the US version as true CC owners know our dogs have no Bull Beiser (Boxer) or Rottie added. As for the Presa i can not comment i don't wish to own a designer dog. If and when i do it will be a Lurcher, maybe a Cane Corso cross Galgo. Or a Cane Corso cross Villano and since Villano is of ancient lines and very rare that would be for me.

    • @adoggdog3988
      @adoggdog3988 Год назад

      Why would you cross a corso with any of those other breeds? The villano fine but the others would look ugly asf
